Performance E-hybrids are such a niche market segment, I wonder why Mercedes/AMG is investing in it. Porsche is selling hybrid models since 2011 (plug-in since 2013?), but what you see is, that Panamera sales took a hard hit with the SOP of the pure BEV Taycan. I can see sports cars like the Ferrari SF90 or a RS hybrid model of the 911, but 4-door luxury sedans will go pure BEV by 2025-30.

If you’ve ever walked between electric cars charging or went from boot to front door of your own car on charge you often hit the open charging flap . It’s a bad design this is maybe not as bad from a practical point. Side charging points are not a practical idea.
I wish there’s a greater focus on weight because of the batteries. I would think there’s a business case to use much more carbon fiber than aluminum and steel.
I guess as long as its still got a v8 still makes it great! Wasn't sure how I was to feel about it... It loses some practicality in the boot... May still lean towards just the v8, if its still an offer below the e- performance
Insanity. I'm going to have to go back and rewatch how the entire system works as it's quite complicated. It took me a bit to understand how the 48V mild hybrid system worked and now there's this system.
Every car manufacturer going down the route of big power but big weight. I know we are moving away from the combustion engine but it doesn’t make sense.
Mercedes CEO: i want to have a better handling in our cars than bmw and faster too. Engineer: but thats impossible sir. CEO: just fucking mixed everything together. Engineer: yes sir. GT63s E CAME OUT.
It’s a nice looking car and probably quick ask heck but your face says you’re disappointed with the sound. I don’t blame ya. I imagine the 4 cylinder would sound a step above an F Series M4. I will never trade my W205 C63S.
Love the review, very happy to see some brutal honesty. Quite a few head scratchers with this car: all that extra power over the GT63s but only 0.2 seconds quicker to 60? Extra weight that ruins the handling? Absolutely baffling spot for the charging port? Call me a cynic, but ever since Tobias Moers left, Mercedes-AMG seems to be going downhill.
I think it’s down to managing the traction. MB always seems to be slightly slower than the competition for similar power levels. Gotta be gearing or traction as there is no lack of power.
Do you think they will stop making this car? Or will there just be a facelift in 2025? You said this one is the facelift version but it looks the same.
I think I would just go with the regular non hybrid version or just go full electric at this point with an RS etron gt, taycan turbo or turbo s and go as fast or even faster (in the turbo s) than this car. This AMG hybrid and the taycan/etron gt weigh the same but the taycan/etron gt has better balance and lower center of gravity and will handle better (and look better).... Think this car only makes sense if you want that electric boost but you have to commute long distances without any charging infrastructure.
M5 CS all the way. Too heavy, too cumbersome, too compromised. That weight cannot be hidden. Most criminal of all is that due to Mercedes’ approach in terms of giving all their cars the same face, this could be mistaken for a C63 AMG in your mirrors rather than a £200k special. And to make matters worse, the charging port flap is positioned in a way that destroys the lines out of the box. A few hundred closes later and it will look like you’ve taken a minor knock and not got it fixed. Disappointing. Standard version or CS for the purists.
All they needed to do was put the charge port where the gas opening goes on the other side of the car. Instead they slapped it on the butt on the car and it looks terrible

I'll pick the m5cs which does same performance times and cheaper also
I hope they offer this system in the E class
The electric pump is in perfect position, chargers are usually at the back of the garage and well designed. Car: monsters!👌
It looks shit.
Always feel these type of set ups work better with fewer cylinder engines.
Best car reviews by a mile 👌
is this 2023 new generation 'mild hybrid' version??
I guess as long as its still got a v8 still makes it great! Wasn't sure how I was to feel about it... It loses some practicality in the boot... May still lean towards just the v8, if its still an offer below the e- performance
Insanity. I'm going to have to go back and rewatch how the entire system works as it's quite complicated. It took me a bit to understand how the 48V mild hybrid system worked and now there's this system.
9:09 what if a car hit it in the back, how is it gonna be fixed
Portland, JAMAICA in The Building !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Catching up to the panamera e-hybrid ?
Every car manufacturer going down the route of big power but big weight. I know we are moving away from the combustion engine but it doesn’t make sense.
So it’s only as fast as the m5 comp to 60. Proves it’s too heavy
What black wheels are on the AMG 63 ?
did they also take away the fixed spoiler?
You didn't seem that excited about its new power nor torque, Cars enthusiasts would definitely choose the 63S over it.
Mercedes CEO: i want to have a better handling in our cars than bmw and faster too.
Engineer: but thats impossible sir.
CEO: just fucking mixed everything together.
Engineer: yes sir.
GT63s E CAME OUT.
What a gorgeous car.
So after seeing some videos on gt63e, you're better off with the gt63s and if you need more power just tune it
Very nice jacket Raz. 👍🏼
It’s a nice looking car and probably quick ask heck but your face says you’re disappointed with the sound. I don’t blame ya. I imagine the 4 cylinder would sound a step above an F Series M4. I will never trade my W205 C63S.
I like the car and its engineered well, thanks for sharing
Charging port is ugly 😕
This is so whack, I can't believe people are hyping up hybrid and 4 cylinder AMGs
Lol right
You’d probably be open minded if you could afford it.
?? 8 cylinder 4.0 Liter
Nothing translated into the microphone, since the echo was so bad.
Waiting for it 🔥
Love the review, very happy to see some brutal honesty.
Mercedes is dead
Do you think they will stop making this car? Or will there just be a facelift in 2025? You said this one is the facelift version but it looks the same.
They could have put the charge port behind the license plate
What's the 1/4 mile time and trap speed in mph?
I think I would just go with the regular non hybrid version or just go full electric at this point with an RS etron gt, taycan turbo or turbo s and go as fast or even faster (in the turbo s) than this car. This AMG hybrid and the taycan/etron gt weigh the same but the taycan/etron gt has better balance and lower center of gravity and will handle better (and look better).... Think this car only makes sense if you want that electric boost but you have to commute long distances without any charging infrastructure.
he censors the millage because the millage is like the cars virginity, you're not supposed to see it unless you're interested in buying
Yeah, the only con of electric cars is the weight, but it's the most important aspect of a fun car
That car is a nightmare if something breaks
M5 CS all the way. Too heavy, too cumbersome, too compromised. That weight cannot be hidden. Most criminal of all is that due to Mercedes’ approach in terms of giving all their cars the same face, this could be mistaken for a C63 AMG in your mirrors rather than a £200k special. And to make matters worse, the charging port flap is positioned in a way that destroys the lines out of the box. A few hundred closes later and it will look like you’ve taken a minor knock and not got it fixed. Disappointing. Standard version or CS for the purists.
And it is more than 500kgs lighter than the GT63e
All they needed to do was put the charge port where the gas opening goes on the other side of the car. Instead they slapped it on the butt on the car and it looks terrible
