My favorite parts of Super Mario Sunshine are the sections where they take away the water cannon and you're playing 3D sections that are inspired by NES Mario. Are there any other 3D Mario games that recreate the feeling of those sections of Sunshine? I did not own a Wii, Wii U, or 3DS so there are plenty of Mario games that I still haven't played.

Definitely agree with you on Galaxy 1 vs 2. Galaxy 1 was simply special and I don't think Galaxy 2 recaptured that, but its great in it's own right. At the end of the day it's to each their own tho

I respect your views but I think you can use the same arguments on some games. Just as the original SMB has aged as a 2D Mario and drops down, Mario 64 has aged as a 3D Mario. With nostalgia goggles on its right up there but looked at more objectively how is it better than Galaxy 1&2 or even Odyssey. It’s probably the 2nd most important after the original, but in hindsight not a better game than later 3D entries.

I do feel like you guys use the IGN nomenclature for talking review scales so often that KF should just adopt it. I know your review scale is much more of a jumping off point for the amazing and deep convos you have around reviews, but you always reference games as being 10s because of your IGN history and close ties, that I feel it’s a little convoluted. It feels as though a Kinda Funny 5 and an industry / IGN 10 mean two different things. I feel your conversations would be enhanced if you could discuss 8/9/10s instead of just 4s & 5s… just a thought.

Mario 64 is the Mario I grew up with and I love it for that, but I have to admit that multiple 3D Mario games were better. To even put it in my top 5 would solely be as nod because it was the first 3D Mario game.

Mario 2 was a Mario prototype before it was fleshed out as Doki Doki. It's 100% a "real" Mario game
