Gungnir, I recommend throwing the Ranger Emblem you got into the shimmer. It will cycle between all four emblems so you can get the Warrior emblem without having to farm WoF.
It's kind of depressing that there are 21 yoyos in this game, and of them, only two actually have unique effects. One of which is after you've already beaten the game and gets outclassed by the zenith, and the other only being introduced in 1.4.4.

Just wanted to share a small tip (I know it’s a bit late but Whatever). Fake dungeon walls can be destroyed by projectiles now. This includes yo-yos which can shred entire sections in seconds. Makes exploring the dungeon much less tedious
If you're having trouble with the mech bosses in the next episode I'd recommend the zenith. It's really good for the mechs due to its long range and high damage and it's relatively easy to find.
It's still one of my best weapons for early hardmode playing the Everything seed on legendary-- It's actually wild how good it is even after getting things like Bananarangs, Life Drains, etc, especially after getting access to ichor flasks.

you can only really kill them before skeletron on either drunk seed or on everything seed, since to get them to spawn you need to be in dungeon underground which is same requirements for dungeon guardian, except on those two seeds, they push dungeon guardian down so you can reach the old man and painful fact, tmodloader is broken with that and dungeon guardian has normal requirements even on special seeds to spawn
Gungnir forgot molten armor exists and it would've made the fight much easier lmao. Also PLEASE get the *Starfury,* the star projectile now works underground and it's really good for killing underground enemies, BEFORE you fight the mecs, do the Hardmode Goblin Army and get the *Shadowflame Knife,* and *KILL the Destroyer first* to see the new 1.4.4 rework on the *Light Disk.*
@@JamFusion. It actually needs like 3-5 times the amount of materials to craft one now than it took to craft one before 1.4.4 They did this to balance the light disc because you can have reforges and it stacks higher now

You used to be able to stack 5, the recipe is 5x more expensive yet we actually get a 6th thrown disc for free. So technically it has become cheaper in the sense that “buy 5, get 1 free”
nights edge is amazing in early hardmode since it hits for such a large range, through walls (for enemies like wraiths) and because of it's high knock back. mining underground isn't scary at all anymore, nothing can touch you except skeleton archers when you aren't hitting them
I wrecked through the WoF with the Night's edge. I had made an ENORMOUS runway across the third of a large world in the underworld. Ended up not even taking five hundred blocks to kill it with my buffs. The fact you can ignore the Hungries, and hit both the mouth and an eye at once is completely OP. I really hope they add weapons this powerful for the other classes, because now Melee is simply the strongest class in almost every way both late pre-hardmode and Endgame. Edit : forgot to speak about the yo-yos. I love them. But the Night's edge beats them all, both in ease of use and DPS. AND EVEN RANGE!
I started a melee playthrough for the first time in master mode. I had heard horror stories of trying to do WoF as melee, and was mentally preparing. IT TOOK ME LESS THAN A MINUTE TO KILL IT WITH THE NEW NIGHT’S EDGE.
If only you could do the same for the obsidian rose, that was the one accessory that stopped me from crafting the terraspark boots when I got lucky with my chest items
I may be mistaken but I think the Bee Keeper HAS received changes. It's larger, has auto swing, and swings faster, making it a really good sword all the way until you defeat skeleton and get the masamune
A tip for anyone who plays the drunk seed/legendary seed: Use dynamite to make an arena for Skeletron, it surprises me a bit how people gaze over bombing an area for an arena. It’s really helpful for starting the boss and doesn’t almost get you killed at the start. For the legendary seed however, you’ll probably have to deal with the bees and evil biome enemies.
I’m so glad melee is finally getting some love. I remember back when the nights edge and Excalibur were some of the best weapons in the game, then they got completely outclassed in 1.2 and haven’t been any good since. I’m happy to see the nights edge back on top
The only change to the Bee Keeper was a slight damage and sprite size increase. I really like the muramasa change, sucks that it's doomed to be thrown away almost immediately to make the nights edge. Loving the series so far, gunanir!
night's edge is suprisingly viable against hardmode i should mention! destroyer is actually not too bad with this thing and even against skeletron prime it does okay. next weapon you should go for before you get excalibur and all that though is bladetongue. it's a very fun hardmode true melee weapon that can dish out some serious damage AND inflict ichor.
The main thing about the Bee Keeper is the Confusion debuff, which is invaluable when fighting enemies with any knockback reduction pre-HM and in early HM.
main effects of shimmer: 1) dismantle recipes and get most of the ingredients back one tier at a time, in many cases allowing for a more time consuming reforge for free 2) upgrading stats by creating new permanent buff items. heart and mana crystal, golden worm, food, pearl, etc. 3) transmute items to ones with similar effects or those that are part of a certain tree, often used to get rare drops for free. Angler cellphone pieces rotate as do each tier of eternia defender turrets, ankh shield pieces come in pairs, sterilized forms of walls return the monster spawning version, etc. 4) change the cosmetic look of town NPCs by forcing them to take a swim. town pets unaffected. Most consistent way to do it without moving the liquid itself is to build a house above the pond with an activator floor, a manual trigger outside the house, and furniture on platforms (so you do not need to replace them every time) within the house- assign the NPC you want to change, leave the screen and return, toggle the activator floor twice (once to dunk, the other to prepare for the next NPC), unassign the NPC and assign the next target, repeat for every one you want to change. 5) make enemies invisible or in some rarer cases, make them change forms (slimes into a new aether variant, and skeletons and zombies alternating between each other).
Yeah the nights edge is ridiculous. I’m also running a master mode play through on the crimson/corruption seed and instead of using the storm bow for destroyer I used nights edge and it recked him. I’ve never used melee weapons against bosses before (except for eater, brain, and golem), but the melee class in 1.4.4 is actually viable for most bosses now
Nights edge is so amazing, its even strong in early hardmode an just obliterates the mech worm in master, queen slime mount + nights edge and good potions and you can just stand still and destroy it (and you can get the discs to destroy the other 2 mech bosses)
I used the Hive Five against Skeletron with a white string and hive pack in my recent master mode run, and it was absolutely heavenly. I love yo-yos so much, I wish we got more sick yo-yos like the Hive Five.
I'm pretty sure enemies don't drop anything until after skeletron is dead, since I've killed plenty of enemies and three dungeon slimes, all without getting a gold key
The biggest problem with melee now is that it’s too good. Once you defeat Plantera and get the Terra blade, absolutely nothing is better than it until you beat Moonlord.
I’d argue influx waver is better for single targets christmas tree sword is comparable with crowds and there’s a lot of boomerangs that kind of overshadow it in a lot of situations
me and my friend were doing for the worthy and we broke a pot near a chest that had a key, then we used the key for a chest right next to it containing the shadow key and a muramasa, all before skeletron
i think the true nights edge should be changed a bit more and i think, it should explode and hit twice (“second” after-effect swings upwards (like blade of grass), while summoning a full circle of 20 dimensional rifts (lights bane thingies) on the larger aftereffect, and 10 on the smaller one, that will collapse into the nearest enemy, exploding and hitting 5 times each - and should be balanced accordingly (aka projectile spam plus combining effects from the nights edge lights bane, murasama, volcano and blade of grass) and balanced accordingly

I'm curious for next episode, because in my opinion the worst part of a melee playthrough is the beginning of the game and the start of hardmode night's edge is definitly capable of taking out the destroyer, but it takes a while and in a master mode playthrough the mechs have so much health and deal so much damage that it becomes nigh impossible to tank enough damage from the probes to survive the whole fight with night's edge's range I've been trying to play master mode and all my playthroughs die as soon as I reach hardmode due to how unfair normal enemy damage is, so I'm also curious on how he will obtain the frozen set (if he goes for that) and how he will survive in general, gugnir has done master mode a lot of times so I know he can do it, I'm just curious to see as to how he will do it, because I don't have the skill or the patience required to play master mode legit
If your struggling I'd suggest using solar armor as it does wonders against skeldtron prime. You can also use soaring insignia as it really helps with mobility!

My friends and I were playing on the getfixedboi seed, and we killed about a dozen of slimes that had keys in them, and didn't get any keys, we started getting keys after we killed skeletron. I want to reiterate, and would love to be proven wrong, and be told that i just got really unlucky. but I don't think that it is possible to get keys pre-skeletron anymore.
bee keeper was amazing back in 1.3 when it didnt change direction when swinging it. Used to be the go-to weapon for melee Wall of Flesh. These days its pretty bad
Going into hard mode as melee with shadow armour and not molten is an interesting way to do things Molten is the endgames armour for melee in prehard mode and is way better than shadow

I actually play on drunk world as well and the same situation happened in dungeon that there was a chest but I was so lucky that I got golden key from a pot that was in the same room.
I actually find Night's Edge isn't super effective against the Destroyer. It appeared that it wouldn't hit as much per swing as I thought it would. Excalibur, however, is quite good.
While not practical, you can probably even beat the mech bosses with nights edge and it wouldn’t be very hard, it is really op. It can reach 500dps with pre hard mode gear.
Destroyer can be fought with the night's edge, but I'd rather get the debuff combo of Shadow Flame Knife, Frostbite from Frost Armor, and a Cursed Inferno from the flask. It's so good against the twins and skeletron prime, but other melee weapons i would recommend are the Bananarang, Chain Guillotines, Ice Sickle, Frost Brand and Drippler Crippler
The extra armor, crit chance, and base damage, in regards to Adamantine armor, is better for Destroyer, especially with all the spam the probes can do if you have a sloppy fight

The Bee Keeper got a slight dmg buff(26dmg to 30dmg) and had it's size increased so now the blade is alot longer

I just beat WoF in my Master FtW world with nights edge and it was so satisfying after all these years to actually use it to kill the wall

Gungnir, I recommend you use Light Discs after you beat Destroyer, as they are an stackable boomerang. Bananarangs are also a busted option.
4:40 it's been patched where the enemies cannot drop items until skeletron is defeated since 1.4.4

Bee keeper got a decent bit bigger. It’s a pretty good weapon.
It also got a notable damage buff as well.

The Night’s Edge is legitimately better than a majority of early hardmode melee weapons, comparable to the blade tongue.
With Night's Edge and PHM gear I've killed Master Wall of Flesh in sub-minute time, it's nuts.
My favorite new melee change is the nights edge because now it can be used for early hardmode and is the best weapon for legendary mode wof

I actually play on drunk world as well and the same situation happened in dungeon that there was a chest but I was so lucky that I got golden key from a pot that was in the same room.
IMO, new nights edge is pre hardmode zenith.

I actually find Night's Edge isn't super effective against the Destroyer. It appeared that it wouldn't hit as much per swing as I thought it would. Excalibur, however, is quite good.

While not practical, you can probably even beat the mech bosses with nights edge and it wouldn’t be very hard, it is really op. It can reach 500dps with pre hard mode gear.
This is a good sign because I am playing melee class on my hardcore expert world and have a night's edge. I think this is attempt 21?
The Night's Edge actually just makes pre hard mode a joke like actually.
Destroyer can be fought with the night's edge, but I'd rather get the debuff combo of Shadow Flame Knife, Frostbite from Frost Armor, and a Cursed Inferno from the flask. It's so good against the twins and skeletron prime, but other melee weapons i would recommend are the Bananarang, Chain Guillotines, Ice Sickle, Frost Brand and Drippler Crippler
its...the destroyer...he's immune to all debufs, most of these work against other two tho
The extra armor, crit chance, and base damage, in regards to Adamantine armor, is better for Destroyer, especially with all the spam the probes can do if you have a sloppy fight
Flying Knife is pretty decent as well

A couple of odd decisions here, I would have used a gravitation potion to get out of the dungeon and molten armour for WoF
I tried gravitation potion but knockback wouldn't allow that, instead used stairs I dug out to the side together with the bundle of horseshoe balloons

I've been using just the regular night's edge in early hardmode and it is still very viable (it does have the legendary modifier though).
Even before 1.4.4 night's edge was always a pretty solid option for early hardmode
@@thomasdevlin5825 You're right about that. But the range it had previously made it hard to use without almost dying. Before 1.4.4, I used the breaker blade instead of the night's edge because it had better range.
