Johnny Cash & Elvis are the ONLY musicians in history to be inducted into all 3...the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, The Country Music Hall of Fame & the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Let that sink in for a minute. Johnny truly was the voice of God. Everyone is gangster, until Johnny walks in the door. I grew up in Nashville & my father was the main photographer for the country music industry. I still have a pic of me at 6 years old sitting on Johnny's knee. It is, without question, my most valuable possession.

thanks to technology and videos and recordings and the fact that today his music lives on in both young and old, young people who wasn't even born til a decade after J. R. Cash died rest the fundamentals of learning to appreciate and to play, sing, write perform and hopefully follow in his footsteps or shadows or even hopefully leave a presence as big as he did for folk rock, country, rock and roll, blues, hip hop, pop, gospel and even some rap music and hopefully continue to instill and or infuse musicians with the pure essence of his simplicity in verbosity, as only the father of modern music could do and is still, we can hear and watch Johnny long as you tube holds out and long as they keep remastering, it's the same ol songs I cut my teeth on the same firstv songs I ever heard in my crib when I didn't even know what words or music were songs I've chose to listen to all my life for fifty plus years from big river all the way to blown the whistle when I'm gone, sure I'd love some American recordings 7, 8,9, and or ten, but I get my new by those he influenced or the ones who he influenced influences , and when it's J. R. Cash time I'll take all the man in black i can so really man its like he's right here or like I'm flooding big river with him in st Paul Minnesota and until that day comes here in my home town uh til I feel things brighter I'm. Johnny sings to all of us about sorrow and misery. He doesn't forget poor people or soldiers. Still he hopes that things will be okay some day. I have listened this song hundreds of times with my finnish friends. One of Johnnys masterpiece as a songwriter and composer. Song touches deeply all of us in this world filled with sorrow and fear.

Mine too. I totally agree - things are just as bad and will get worse - absolutely horrific until the Day of Rapture - confused? The Rapture is when all God's Children disappear in the twinkling of the eye. Yes, I believe in Jesus just as Johnny Cash was - he's with his beloved June along with his Lord! I am NOT a Bible thumper, that is so wrong - you would say anything to get him/her to stop. An open hand - invitation - will get you someone who truly cares. God Loves You - He really does.

I've always been of the opinion that, if you're truly a good person, you shouldn't need someone else to tell or remind you to be a good person, or indeed a spiritual text - whether that be the Bible, Quran or Sanskrit texts - but I personally listen to Johnny Cash to keep me grounded, humble and decent. Particularly in today's world, such as things are, it's very easy to go down a very dark road and turn into a terrible person.
In particular, his version of 'The Beast In Me' is another song that I listen to for this purpose.
