Thank you Tyler for teaching me the wonders of grilled cheese, I can't believe I went 20 years without even knowing how to make one, let alone how you can basically put anything in them
The problem with the hot rocks is you probably used rocks that were submerged in water. The rock is porous and has water in it. It gets turned into steam in the fire and expands rapidly and turns the rock into a frag grenade
Thank you for these grilled cheese ways, you taught me to use mayo instead of butter, use Munster and sometimes Swiss instead of just American, I know a lot of people already know that stuff but you have helped me to take my grilled cheese making skills to a whole new level ❤🧀
@@Chef__Tylersomeone already said but the reason that the rocks exploded is because they might have been wet and when you put the rocks in the fire the water in the fire the water turned to steam causing the rocks to explode

You just need to get your engine hotter!
if you want to microwave a grilled cheese, than you have to toast the bread first, and then heat up only long enough to get the cheese to start melting. you gotta f9ind a balance, between melted cheese and soggy bread.
A method I'd definitely recommend for those who have limited space is to use a *toaster oven.* Pre-heat the toaster oven to roughly 450 degrees, and then place the grilled cheese (on an oven pan) into the toaster oven for roughly 8-10 minutes (time may depend on your toaster oven), flipping half-way through. From my experiences, it turns out surprisingly well.
A grilled cheese is one of my favorite foods and im thrilled to find your channel on my feed! You even made a grilled cheese of my favorite food! (Mac and cheese)

My favorite part of the video is you posting whenever I see a video by you and I don’t think I’ve seen it before. I always check your channel to see if it’s new.
4:35 this hot rock exploded because there was significant moisture inside, rapidly heating it up will cause said moisture to evaporate and expand, eventually forcing its way out in a dangerous manner. Its why you never put wet rocks near a fire, they are likely to go boom.
Growing up, we used to take this gadget to make grilled cheese over a fire camping with us. It's two sticks with a square mold at the end and they hook together. You place the sandwich in the mold, shut it tight and put it over the fire. Gave a super good flavor to the sandwich, similar to how I image it would taste if you grilled it but with the crust closer to if you cooked it in a pan. Plus since it was all closed together, any cheese the poured out would just cook onto the break and get super crunchy. By far the best way I know to make a grilled cheese
If you heat rocks, you have to pick the right type of rocks .. those that arent solid, will explode. Right off hand... It is three am here, i can't recall which is best, but an Internet search should tell you. I was facinated by steaming. But i think the panini maker is going to be the most useful to me.
I'm not sure if it has already been suggested but if you can find a way to brown the bread without burning the cheese the sous vide method might be worth a try since that's what people also do with steaks to get a sear.
To anyone who wants to be lazy and not have it be soggy, you can toast the bread in a toaster and then microwave the cheese on it and put it together. It was a great college hack for me and i highly suggest it
Tip for the hot rock method: the rocks you used had a high water content, so the explosions are the water escaping when boiling it. Dry rocks would work just fine!
I have a microwave toastie maker called "Micro Munchy" that is AMAZING!!! Perfect toasted bread and hot insides. Give it a try if ypu can (the only problem is they ship from AUS). Just remember to preheat the maker before you put the bread in!
the air fryer method is my preferred way to make grilled cheese, now for my setup and prep i use a Cuisinart that has a grill grate and instead of using butter or even Mayo, i spray avocado oil on the outside, use any kind of cheddar and pepper jack cheese, cooking at 325F, five minutes per side(applying avocado oil to the top of the sandwich) and once its done, while i don't get a cheese pull after cutting, i do get a cheese pull after each bite. Overall a nice way to make a grilled cheese in around 14 minutes.
little nugget of info for safety if the rock is from or by a lake or river it may have water in it which can make it explode from heat. Glad you're okay though and keep up the great work man.
