    2000psior 140 bar is a tad excessive pressure for a fflp Graco tip . the tip size is 3 x2 = 6 and also the cut of the fan is 30 degree giving the same fan size at 300mm or 12 inched , the ten in the tip size is the size of the hole or orifice which is 10 thousands of and inch wide

    • @camdecorations9779
      @camdecorations9779 3 года назад

      I'll give it that what's the point of using a low pressure tip at high pressure, defeats the purpose of the tip. By the way a 310 gives you a 6" inch fan size a 610 would give you a 12" fan size. your calculation would give a 610 a two foot fan size which would be wrong . Ànd your right about the orifice the higher the last two digits on the side of the tip means how much more paint comes out

    You should update your spraying system to air assisted airless , quick , less overspray and the quality matches a hvlp spray system

    Ryan, been watching your videos and found they are very educational and informative. The Graco system you use, do you need to thin the paint? or does it come pre-thinned? or is there a particular brand you use that's perfect for spraying. Are you using waterbased paints? thanks for your time.

    • @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
      @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop  3 года назад

      Thank you!
      Im happy they are helping people out!
      The graco airless sprayers i use spray at up to 3000psi so they literally spray anything unthinned.
      I use a green fine finish tip mostly 310 size and have the pressure turned down as low as possible and generally only use water based paint but you can use oil based.
      You can spray any brand too.

    Hello again mate, been using my hvlp for ages now for my small mdf projects, and finally took the plunge and ordered a graco handheld...(yeah the mixed review ones) lol. Only reason being it was the cheapest graco airless and I will only use it for small projects. Can you give me any advice on the leyland primer and a decent satin topcoat? People are saying tikkurilla but the prices are ridiculous. I've ordered an extra fflp tip with it aswell its a 310. Any advice will be appreciated thanks.

    • @jamesmcconnon2
      @jamesmcconnon2 3 года назад

      The main thing about the graco handheld is the pump life. Just not designed for long use.
      That being said, a great durable satin topcoat is either caparol pu satin or johnstones aqua guard.

      @@jamesmcconnon2 Hi, first of all what most people don't realise is if you register it with graco contractor club within the first 2 weeks of purchase you get an extra years warranty, 2 years in total so extra piece of mind. Theres a guy on here called sprayaholic and hes done some in depth stuff on them, hes also on Instagram and is really helpful with messages. He says if you thin your material down even just slightly, your gonna prolong the life of the pump and obviously use pump armour etc. Ive used mine 4 times now and I am absolutely loving it. The results I'm getting with it are amazing and its nearly paid for itself already. The quality and speed i can use it at compared to my cheap hvlp really is no match. I suppose the best way I could describe it is a great way to start airless spraying. Yes the gxff is probably a better for long term but there's no way I was diving straight in and paying £800+ for my first airless unit. Mine is water based stuff only and I'm only using it on small mdf bits, not full wardrobes or anything. And if I can use this for 2 years then Ill be more than happy.

    Is that a paint meant for rolling or brushing? I checked out your Johnstone's Trade white on amazon and it seemed like people mostly brush or roll it on.

    • @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
      @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop  4 года назад

      These Sprayers can spray near enough any paint.
      All paints as far as I know are spray able.
      The johnstones sprays really well.

    • @unclejoeoakland
      @unclejoeoakland 4 года назад

      @@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop have you tried spraying anything like akzo-nobel aqualux? They sell it under the name ChemCraft here but it's far less viscous and the drying time is very short. It also sands really well between coats.
      The low viscosity would also help reduce overspray and so improve transfer efficiency.

    You don’t need undercoating?

    • @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
      @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop  3 года назад

      I would never usually do this other than when using my airless sprayer and the tough eggshell or satin.
      First coat goes on pretty heavy and soaks into the mdf, its unbelievably tough once its dry and gives me a really high opacity and strong first coat ready for my top coat and possibly 3rd coat if its needed
