🇭🇲 🦘 I very much enjoyed viewing this interview with Owen Emmerson and Claire Ridgway on the occasion of their much anticipated book launch.

Great little piece from your interview with the great Claire Ridgeway and Dr Owen Emmerson. So happy for them, a great project. I saw from photos of the event that you yourself Sarah attended the event and showed them support. So good of you. A possible future collaboration between you and them on a book project would be amazing too.

I agree 💯 per cent with what Owen said Henry wore Anne he was like a love sick school boy showering her with gifts and love letters poor Anne must have felt suffocated by his constant chasing also her Father Thomas Boleyn made matters worse by more or less forcing Anne to yeild to Henrys advances

I don't think that Anne was initially attracted to Henry. She had expected to marry Percy and I believe there was young love between them. Plus Henry had been her sister's lover. I think Henry did wear her down and eventually she loved him since he gifted her with a crown and a child, Elizabeth. Unfortunately she had some powerful enemies and let Henry's dalliance with Jane contribute to a miscarriage of a son.

I think Owen is right...for me Anne did out weigh Henry in a certain intellect...I don't think he was dim in anyway...but I think Anne had that extra something special than Henry...& unlucky for her he knew it! 🙄😊

He would have been given an extraordinary education, but probably somewhat conventional, and that doesn't speak to his ability and intellect, necessarily. Anne must have been someone with extraordinary intellect if she was chosen over her older sister to receive a foreign education, and being a 'mere knight's daughter' from an 'inferior' country, she managed to impress Margaret of Austria as well as Marguerite of Navarre, among other notables, who spoke highly of her abilities. As a woman, she wasn't as 'learned' as Henry, and couldn't speak as many languages, but she must have been someone who, if given an equal education, would have been outstandingly learned. Her daughter Elizabeth was the smartest of Henry's children, partly due to her precarious childhood and impressive education, but also because of her amazing intellect and ability, which she got from both her parents.
