just fixed glow plug relay power pin that was corroded, making cold start impossible on a chevy cruze, thanks to your hairpin idea. Huge thanks for your video!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the connector pulled off the front brake pad sensor connector...googling and googling and found this.
Thank you for uploading this video. I had an issue with my Pressure Sensor from my Audi and I have found a loose connection. this saved me a bunch. thank you
Thanks man, you're savior. The housing of my Coolant Temp Sensor on my Audi just disintegrated due to brittleness from extreme heat over the years. I'll be working on it as soon as the part arrives.
Jaaaa!!! RUclips is a life saver. Thanks so much dude. That's EXACTLY what i needed help with!! My brake pad wear indicator got ripped out when my caliper fell while i was changing my upper strut mount. it was a dumb mistake because i knew i should have secured my caliper before doing any work in case it fell and sure enough, it fell. Your the best. Life saver!
This literally just happened to me! Wires hanging down with bare copper showing. Took the connector off the wheel speed sensor and was dreading how much the local garage would charge to repair it. Now maybe I don't have to find out!
Great and really helpful video. Hairpin was free as I just cleaned up my daughter's room and found one. My real job was to extract the rear speaker wires out of my Passat car stereo plug as I got intermittent shorts to the speaker lines (due to bad connectors somewhere else). Apparently VW RCD300 models did not have any short protection as two units got destroyed with caps smoking, thankfully the RCD310 had better design.
Dude... dude... holy god dude... Looks,I have a bmw E36 and the last night works with this in my wire harness ok? Don't exist any vid of this about bmw,and start my process. Cut with a dremel a old conector and looks under de conexion clip a bit plastic pin that makes don't out the conection, are terrible!!!! Right... Now its ok,after three days eating my brain was can out pins of conector, but was be a terrific problem for a lot time, wow seriously. First have destroy the bit plastic pin for rear conector, and after put the two bars and found the clips, after this, its possible outing the conexions pins of my hareness. Thanks for your vid,was very interesting, easy and cheap! Sorry my bad english, greatings!
Thank you! Har to get the cable out as it broke clean of inside of the plug,I found eBay new complete part going to replace it hopefully that’s the issue with the engine light next step the evac pump.👍🏻
Great tips. It would have been even better to show where the hairpin is supposed to touch the connector metal part to get it to release. The connector has small metal bits slightly bent outwards and the hairpin is used to push those outwards bent part back towards the metal body of the connector. Sometimes those outward bent parts also may a bit loose and the metal part of the connector starts to slide backwards when you try to attach the connector. Then you just take the connector apart, carefully bent the part that sticks outwards (needle pin seems good for this) to make it slightly more outwards and put the parts together again.
AWESOME!!! I've been battling these for years, i have a connector for aux water pump the wire is broken right by connector. i want to snip it an crimp on new pins, where can i buy pins?
Hello ! how can the connection be restored with the wire that broke from the connector, if it cannot be replaced with another new plug? thank you very much..
Hello what is the way the cables conect back please. 1 which colour and 2 as we took them out with this video thank you but we need to know the rigth way to them back.
Thanks for the helpfull video! Im trying to get my wires out of the connector, but the half circle/extra safety wont come all the way out! It stops half way out. My connector looks just like yours. Does it need to go all the way out? Tried pulling as hard as possible without breaking it... Thanks
hey mate thanks alot for uploading this video, it helped me a lot with my project. I wondered how to put braided cable sleeve over my original installation without cutting and soldering. Тhis is very helpful! i wonder how do you deal with smaller pins?
Dude thank you very much! Tried like 3 freaking hours saw this video and just had one of those metalic things laying around from my ex lol i cutted it and y 5 minutes i removed the pin
Thanks man. Great video. Do you think you could upload one for the smaller harnesses such as fuel temp sensor. Mine wiggles and I know there's gotta be a way to take it apart but I can't see any pins holding it together
Better yet, you can make a depining tool from old windshield wiper; use the U end of a wiper and grind it thin with a bench grinder, the metal is stronger and wont flex when you try to depin the pin.
This particular one, is used on a handful of connectors in the wiring harness of Audi's and Volkswagens. This exact one, is usually used on things like coolant temperature sensor, knock sensor, brake pad wear sensor, hood contact sensor, and A/C compressor sensor. I think it's even used on brake fluid level sensor. Sometimes they corrode, rodents chew the wires, or they just mysteriously sever cleanly like they've been cut. Your air conditioning stop working in your car? Check the electrical connector for a break in the wire. Knowing that, saved me possibly $500-$1000 recently on my Audi A4 B7. It was severed like it had been cut, about 1/2 inch out from the connector. I have a temp fix on it, but this video has helped me understand how I am going to take it apart and fix it permanently.
Nice! I have one a rat ate and was dreading how to disassemble. Thank you so much. Looks just like the one you were working on.
Ahh great! Yes, they’re really not bad after all.
just fixed glow plug relay power pin that was corroded, making cold start impossible on a chevy cruze, thanks to your hairpin idea. Huge thanks for your video!
Excellent! Really glad it helped.
Thanks for this. The tip about a hairclip to release the connector was really useful. Even my smallest tweezers were not thin enough to do it.
Excellent, really glad it helped you!
Thank you so much for this Video !!! I ripped out my wires and wanted to repair it but had no idea how! Great Stuff !!!
Glad I could help phil!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the connector pulled off the front brake pad sensor connector...googling and googling and found this.

Merci pour ce super tuto qui va nous permettre de réparer le problème des connecteurs sur les Renault trafic.
Thanks man, you're savior. The housing of my Coolant Temp Sensor on my Audi just disintegrated due to brittleness from extreme heat over the years. I'll be working on it as soon as the part arrives.
Excellent! That's great to hear you can repair it.
Yeah this saved me lol. Was able to take apart a donor connector and fix my broken one. Saved me $15 or so
Good, that’s the sort of thing we need in this world!
Super helpful. No idea they had a locking collar. Been fighting one all day!
Ahh excellent!

I suppose it's good that they made a sensible system for repairing them!
How did you repair this then mate?
This literally just happened to me! Wires hanging down with bare copper showing. Took the connector off the wheel speed sensor and was dreading how much the local garage would charge to repair it. Now maybe I don't have to find out!
One of the best vids I've ever watched.
Bold, but I'm so glad it helped!
thanks for this tip !! so much money spared with it !
Haha, excellent, do subscribe if you can 😉
Thanks a lot KIND OF MAN! You are incredible! From Ukraine with love!
This video is a life saver thanks for uploading my friend
Good! Glad it helped you.
This is brilliant, exactly what I was looking for, thanks !
Excellent, hope it helped you out!
Lifesaver. Just broke a connector myself so this was very handy to help me repair mine. Thanks very much.
Michael Maher so glad it helped!
Thanks, 20minutes and connector repaired!
Thanks!
It comes out for no time

Juha Seppänen fantastic, in fact I actually find the hairpins work better than the proper tools! Interesting about the Passat, thanks for that.

Great video, Do you know how to get inside the rectangle ones that have a metal spring clip around them?
That's great thanks but what if you need to replacing the male connector?
Great question, I better make a video for that 😂
Excellent video ! I have a VW Polo, these connectors always seem to break. Now I know how to repair them ! Thank You.
Firoz Nanji was
Thanks for this video, I took a cotter pin and bent it how it is in the video. Took a twist, tug and pull but it worked to get it apart. 🤙🏼
great video!. some of these clips are smaller and you will need to buy a terminal removal tool kit that sell for about 20$ on amazon
That's absolutely true, the smaller ones do need the smaller tool!
Love it this video help so much. Now I have find a tge wire that has the terminal connector.
Do you know where I can find them?

Thanks for letting me know too. 😃
that's amazing, so I don't need to spend 25 bucks on pin extraction. thanks for the video its really useful.
Glad I could help!
Super helpful and was able to change my connectors. thanks!
Excellent, glad to hear that!
AWESOME!!! I've been battling these for years, i have a connector for aux water pump the wire is broken right by connector. i want to snip it an crimp on new pins, where can i buy pins?
You can buy pins from the dealer. Or pre-crimped wires.
Hello ! how can the connection be restored with the wire that broke from the connector, if it cannot be replaced with another new plug? thank you very much..
Clear, precise video. Perfect. Thanks Peter.
Thanks Steve, glad I could help you out!
Saved me big money thanks
Hello what is the way the cables conect back please. 1 which colour and 2 as we took them out with this video thank you but we need to know the rigth way to them back.
What? This is some random plug on a car. All plugs are wired different on all cars. How on earth would I know what order yours go back in?
Thanks for helping understand my VW better!
Any time!
You're a genius, took less than a minute. Thank you!
anthony garcia Thank you! Glad it helped.
You have just save me, many thanks
That’s great, thank you.
What a great video thanks so much
Thanks Iain! Glad you found it helpful!
hello…Does the VW alternator connector has 2 wires or one…wen it tore, i only saw 1 white wire…but im not sure if it had 2
Depends on the car. Most only have one.
If I get the same plug identical in size and terminals, it should work switching wires right?
Totally!
You saved em $82 thank you
Wow, excellent tip, thanks!
Is there a way to properly decrimp the wire?
Thanks for the helpfull video! Im trying to get my wires out of the connector, but the half circle/extra safety wont come all the way out! It stops half way out. My connector looks just like yours. Does it need to go all the way out? Tried pulling as hard as possible without breaking it... Thanks
No, you don't have to remove it all the way to get the pins out. Put the tool in and push the wire in before trying to pull it out.
thank you very much .work perfect!!!
My pleasure!
I've got to black wires on my connector whats wire is live please help or does it not matter
Just change them one by one
hey mate thanks alot for uploading this video,
it helped me a lot with my project.
I wondered how to put braided cable sleeve over my original installation without cutting and soldering.
Тhis is very helpful!

Gracias desde Puerto Vallarta
En menos de 2minutos afuera
Thanks so much. I got a connector's housing to be changed. vw beetle
If you can tell me which does the negative go to port 1 or 2
Negative is normally brown. But as for which hole, you'd have to check ErWin!
Great, thanks for this
God Bless You! super helpful
Issacc A excellent, glad it worked well for you!
Hi Peter, can you share what the "#/#" and bottom right number mean on these?
Nothing of any relevance to us, some sort of production code I think.
Thanks alot it helpd me👍🏻
Dude thank you very much! Tried like 3 freaking hours saw this video and just had one of those metalic things laying around from my ex lol i cutted it and y 5 minutes i removed the pin
Glad your ex could help somehow
Perfect.
Thanks man. Great video. Do you think you could upload one for the smaller harnesses such as fuel temp sensor. Mine wiggles and I know there's gotta be a way to take it apart but I can't see any pins holding it together
Du bist ein Held
this wouldn’t happen to be a coolant temp sensor would it? just yanked the wires out of mine pulling off the intake manifold :/
No, but the plug is the same
@@theweekthatis thank you sir. good video !
@@theweekthatis if i’ve ordered a new connector will it come with those wire ends that lock into it?
No, they must be ordered separately, normally it's only the wires that are at fault or the connector, seldom both.
awesome! thank you!😁
My pleasure!
Simple for new connectors, but for old like my its very hard and big problem to take out wire from plug it stuck
Connector is good, wire problem close to connector
This connector was 10+ years old in the video, age shouldn't be a problem!
What wire goes where? Just pulled mine off lol
Every plug is different 🤣
Thank you!!
Right on, thanks!
Thanks
My pleasure
Thenks
When clip breaks the two will not hold together but if you take rubber out they will and then put a bit of glue out of glue gun and that’s it
Surely better to mend it?
Well yeah you make it look easy without the blue rubber on but with it it won’t go in
Just put a tiny bit on grease on the rubber and it will fly in, make sure the terminal is lines up with the hole, the wire might need twisting a bit.
What's conector ?
Sorry?
thanks man
My pleasure!
good video!
poleadorfc pole Thank you! Hope it helped!
