Quite sad that the cut Ashman songs didn't get released with the broadway cast recording as bonus tracks. Felt like the last chance for those songs to finally see an official release!
I admit that this song doesn't really establish who Jasmine truly is as a character, and I get why it was replaced, but I really really love this song, and I especially love Courtney's performance!
AlwaysGonnaSing Yeah, apparently her character only acted this spoiled so her suitors would leave her alone
+Timothy Yang It jus didn't add to the story
Actually, in the story, Jasmine uses this song to scare away potential suitors since she doesn't agree with the idea of forced marriage. She was just pretending to be spoiled and shallow, but she wasnt.
But it fits.
Yeah, but it's also the first impression we get of her character, which doesn't fit with or add to how we come to know her.
"No rhinestones, I won't be played!"
LOVE
I feel proud of myself for knowing this song way prior to this. But all in all Courtney Reed makes me so happy and she killed this song!
I love the brass section
This song is kinda like "Congratulations" from Hamilton. I get why it was cut, but damn it's still so good!! I wish both could make their way back into their respective shows somehow.
I adore this song. It's so Jasmine. It's totally something she would do. I love it!
I love Courtney Reed, I was quite sad that I didn't get to see her when I saw Aladdin. Her voice is stunning!
Courtney is a princess
I'm so happy she sang this song cuz it got cut even tho this song isn't the best for jasmine an I love these palace walls better. But I love Courtney!!!! She is amazing
I forgot how much I love this song. 😂 So great to hear Courtney sing it.
Why couldn't the show have this song and "These Palace Walls?"
I mean, "Call Me a Princess" could go right before Abdullah (I think that's the Prince's name) storms off claiming he wouldn't marry her and "These Palace Walls" could go where it already is.
I was actually surprised at how little Jasmine was in Aladdin. She only sang in 3 songs and wasn't in that many scenes. "Call Me a Princess" and "These Palace Walls could both have gotten into the show in my opinion.
IDK this is just what I think. :)
Peri Zoe Yildirim-Stanley it's cuz in the original prod when they still had this song, Courtney sings the reprise of Call Me a Princess before she sneaks out of the palace which would have contradicted These Palace Walls
I dint know this song had been cut from the broadway production... I loved the number when they did the show in Toronto
I don't understand why this was cut. It was showing how resourceful Jasmine was to pretend to be a brat to scare potential suitors away, it's not like that's was her real character?
Actually, now that I think about it, this song sorta reminds me of My Strongest Suit from Aida.
Can we make Aida into a movie already?!?
RockStarHouseBand Ugh, right??? And you know what I want? Uzo Aduba as Aida, and maybe Beyonce as Amneris (though I don't know how good her acting is).
I don't think Beyoncé would work because Amneris as normally played by a Caucasian woman.
Right? Light skin v. dark skin doesn't automatically translate to white v. black.
She's so beautiful!!
Her voice is amazing
I get why this was cut, but I still love this song, especially the bridge.
I literally. Love her.
Did you know that this song was actually written in the late 80’s/early 90’s for the Disney film? It was cut from that too. Is it cursed or something? :P
I had always loved this song and wished they had kept it for Broadway along with keeping Rajah in the show, the Tiger could have been done on stage better than the monkey. But I think this would have worked if they had done it with her singing it to Rajah after her father talks to her.
Does anyone have the sheetmusic for this song? Please? I really really need it!
Did you know this song used to be a deleted Disney Aladdin song?
Awesome Character piece! Where can we get the sheet music? I've been looking everywhere!
Has anyone been able to find the sheet music to this?? I have looked everywhere and cannot find it.
You can check musicnotes.com They probably have it but it costs about $5 to see all pages
*YES!*
No, okay...
I wish they kept the line “ruling those darn third world nations”
Guess it wasn’t PC....
Diva much, lol. 😂
I'm glad they replace this song.
Is that Jennifer Lawrence singing? That probably isn't, but that really looks like her!
