It's okay. It can be very jarring experiencing hope for the first time after so long. Be sure to take it in small doses - mix in some mainstream media misery to temper it out at first, then slowly ramp up the hope dosage as you go. It's difficult getting back on hope, but it's worth it.

It’s my understanding that Walz was an Army Command Sergeant Major, the highest level an enlisted man can go, except for one special guy at a time that they send straight to DC. I had a friend in North Carolina who retired as a First Sergeant when he was on the Sergeant Major promotion list. I remember looking at the Fort Bragg Web site, and the Command Sergeant Major was right there on the main page beside the commanding Lieutenant General. It seems to me that this is a substantial accomplishment, and especially when compared with a couple of private-no-class Republicans, and it should be noted repeatedly during the campaign.
Walz Seems like a normal talkative leader with a good ideas for the country 🤩

Neither Harris nor Walz are progressive. They're both Zionist (as are all establishment Democrats), so that alone is enough to disqualify them as progressive. They're just less conservative than the atrocious standard for Democrats for the past 20-30 years, and that and surviving Trump's term has distorted popular recognition of basic political ideologies among voters.
So the best reason to not call them progressive is honesty/accuracy, entirely independent of any campaign considerations.
Progressives need to stop being afraid of being called progressive. Own it and tell people why instead of running from it.

By refusing to step down earlier, he made it impossible to have a vote/discussion by voters on this issue. However this situation isn't Illegal or undemocratic. Let's say Biden died in a car crash or was in a coma. This would be the same result, a new candidate would be picked by the DNC because of the Short Notice and the fact that the election is 3 months away. It would take to much time to get everything prepared for another primary vote. And by the time it was done the Democratic Candidate wouldn't be on the ballots in some states because they took to long.

He has a good record but I think, as a woman there is an empathetic aspect to this for Harris. He seems like a genuinely affable, decent guy. He resonates with everyday people and he was a schoolteacher so clearly he cares for kids. He has an exuberance about him that is palpable. I completely understand why she chose him. I think it will bode very well.
