Two more killer releases in grindcore this year: No/Más - Consume/Deny/Repent; and Knoll - Metempiric Also, in a few months Escuela Grind will be releasing, what I’m sure will be another insane ripper as well.
Haven't heard this album yet but I'm liking what I'm hearing so far. Another grindcore album I really enjoyed from this year was Knoll's Metempiric, which I discovered from Metal Trenches. Jesus christ that album rips.
This album has something for every Metal fan. Glass Shards is my favorite song on the album and this could definitely be an AOTY for me at least! Great review!
Absolutely killer album, I'm gonna be exploring more Grindcore whenever I get the chance but I can see Hiss being one of favourites from the genre down the road.
Love the album. As on Voices there are some tracks that have such a Great oldschool screamo feel to it (Weeping Willow for instance). I doubt that the band is aiming for that, but it won’t matter. Hope they can keep it up in spite of the current circumstances.
Sick album! Can’t stop listening to it. It has it all. Straight forward ripping/weird angularity/brutality/groove/experimentation. It’s a ripper for sure.
Awesome rev. This is prob at my faves this year. Btw since you asked, if you dig this kind of brutal but creative avant gardish grindcore check the latest Knoll.
How have these grind masters just now shown up on my radar? Oh well, this is certainly one hell of an introduction. Love it! These guys take a lot of loveable grind tropes and really make them their own.
Wormrot was one of those bands that got me to REALLY love Grindcore. I do appreciate the fact they added a violinist to add to the experience, some of the experiments don’t really stick with me though. I enjoyed the Crossover thrash/Hardcore punk songs a lot. Out of all of their albums this is my least favorite easily. Voices is still my favorite album of theirs Still its Wormrot they fuckin rule probably a 3/5. I hope that Wormrot can continue on at-least because they are one of my favorites in all of grind.
I never listened to Wormrot until now, but I love Hiss too! It's crazy, it's intense, and it's awesome. Also, If you're craving some more grindcore. I recommend you check out Barbaric Inhumanity's The Art of Disfigurement and Human Downfall EP from 2021 if you want to. Holy fuck. It might be even more crazy and intense. ruclips.net/video/NTUqLBNoQrE/видео.html It actually has news samples of shocking stories and while the drumming sounds like someone smacking a tin can. The guitar work and vocals are fucking amazing.
The intro of Darkest Burden, the first track, actually has a cool underwater, or kind by a shoreline sound that fits really well with the artwork. It's super quiet but it's rad
I only just got in to the band with this album. I knew of them for a while but never really got around to checking them out. It'll easily be in my top 3 metal releases this year I feel!
The atmospheric bright and simultaneously dark and cavernous epic sound and direction that started on Voices and amplified on Hiss is actually supposed to be post-hardcore, at least it was on Voices. Regardless, Wormrot have truly transcended the simple label of grindcore and have become something truly different and beautiful. I might even call it post-grindcore! 🖤🖤
This was such a great album has elements of thrash, screams, hardcore, and death metal. I hear some early touché amore/converge vibes On one track, and then on seizures I hear drums that sound like lateralus. It’s all over the place in the best way.
This is definitely their most "progressive" record to date. Voices is much more just straight up grind, and I love it. This one took me like 2 or 3 play throughs to really understand what's going on, but once I did, I developed a whole new appreciation for this band. Their musicianship really comes through on this record.
Massacred Human Extermination. Banger, you're welcome 🤘 Idk about this one yet. I hold Voices in such high regard that it'll be hard for them to top that in my mind.
Arif Rot is leaving the band. I mean, what a way to go out for him. I’m not sure if the band will continue but GOSHDAM this album was a mind explosion of great grindcore!
@@themetalmeltdownofficial well I went for it...not entirely sure still moments that are distinctively grindcore vocally I don't care for that are still there but the moments that aren't (especially in the back half) are definitely doing it for me at the very least musically! So that is that I guess! 🤷🏼♂️
As far as Grind goes,I only really listen to Napalm Death,Pig Destroyer and Wormrot and I 💯 % agree that this is a total banger of a record!...You planning on reviewing the new Vomit Forth album by any chance ?
FINALLY! I LISTENED TO AN ALBUM BEFORE YOU HAD A CHANCE TO REVIEW IT! Wormrot are truly legends. What other grindcore band has a goat in their moshpit? I have schizophrenia and can confirm that Wormrot does indeed sound like Schizophrenia that's actually fun to listen to. This new album, in my humble opinion, is not only the best wormrot album, but the best album of 2022 and the best grindcore album ever made. I hope you have a fantastic day.
Honestly? July rules. Like I've got advance copies for a lot of the albums coming out this month and so much of it is great. Get ready for lots of positive reviews.
I just listened to this album before watching your review. The only problem I have is something will come on that sounds good and then it will be like Wo what happened?
I like the vocals and drumming but the guitar is not down tuned enough for me. Their was a time when grind-core was the "most extreme" genre" but I think that time is long gone. It is a nice album though. If you want some new underground Grind get the Eraser / Your kid's are on fire split 7" on Acid Redux Productions. 💀🎧
Of all of the metal genres, grindcore is one of only a few I really dislike. The only grind bands I can enjoy are full of hell (if they count) Napalm death, and carcass.
I’m a Singaporean and went to the hiss listening party 3 weeks before the release, and I knew metalheads around the world would FUCKING LOVE IT \m/
That must've been a blaaast
It was FUCKIN BLASTIN
So jealous. I wanted that limited edition shirt! Haha
@@DevZenOx my brother got one since there weren’t any left in my size lol
@@mistudio3939 haha, damn that sucks!
Also, Rasyid challenged fans to guess what movie that shirt is from, and I can not figure it out. Do you know?
Easy AOTY contender for me, it absolutely rips.
Killer review, dude!

Ooo! Haven't heard of that, I'll have to check it out. Hungry for some more grindy tunes.
@@themetalmeltdownofficial I think you'll enjoy it, it's very reminiscent of Full of Hell
immediately sold lmao
Also checkout Consume/Deny/Repent from No/Más. It’s crushing.

Grindcore is fun again! Good work my brothers and sisters!
This was one of my most anticipated albums of the year, and it hasn't disappointed. Easily a favorite of the year for me.
Just listened to it for the first time (twice), shit is fun af and also dynamic too. really like it so far. good video
Awesome rev. This is prob at my faves this year. Btw since you asked, if you dig this kind of brutal but creative avant gardish grindcore check the latest Knoll.
Fucking love this album, and possibly the best grindcore album of 2022.
How have these grind masters just now shown up on my radar? Oh well, this is certainly one hell of an introduction. Love it! These guys take a lot of loveable grind tropes and really make them their own.
Sounds awesome. Can't wait to check it out.

Nahh. Its alright, just not my cup of tea really.
Not huge on Grindcore but I like the experimentation the band added to make it stand out.

4.5/5 one of the best albums this month and July already started

Not usually one for grindcore (idk why) but I’ll check this out. Seems interesting.
It's definitely not a standard grind album, so you might enjoy it? Pretty great album for me so far
Definitely give it a shot bud!

This album singlehandedly made me feel less guilty about giving money to Earache.
I love this record
Yess
Has anyone heard of or heard any king parrot?
yeeee that band is pretty cool

Sadly, the vocalist has now left the band.
