    I have been here in Australia for 2years. and Im a Korean. I also feel same like what u said. sometimes Im so hungry especially early morning. but there is no delivery service at midnight. So I would like to choose Seoul city system that I can eat everything in anywhere and anytime.^^

    Hi you two! I just discovered you and I adore your videos.To answer your question, I don't have to choose because I'm leaving in the perfect city, where the balance between history, art, nature and "city convenience" is excellent.It's in Québec city, Canada of course, the oldest city in north america :) I don't have a car, I do everything on foot or bus and I can take a walk in a forest anytime I want. It's a little bit different culturally from the rest of Canada but in general, you have basically the same feel of relaxation, calm and beauty. And, we speak french!!! Yes, I know it's strange for outsiders ;) !!! So that's it! I'm really happy here, but I think I have a strong fascination for Korea and I want to go there in the future. Thank you very much for all the informations you give, it's very interresting and helpful! Please pardon my english, like I said, I speak french I'm a "québécoise" :D

    You go through different cycles in your life. When you are young, single or newlywed like yourselves, it's important to have that urban life because it's how you discover things (like that area Kyuho had never been to.). It also makes for easy walkability, and if you have bikes/bike lanes (urban biking movement) and good transportation system it's a no brainer. You can always rent a car if you have to go out to visit grandpa or go with your parents, like you've done. If you are going on a weekend get away to another area like the seaside, you can take a train or plane, right? Most parents want a backyard for their kids, and a bit more space once they've become established, but when the kids are off on their own, the empty nesters are opting back for downsizing and urban living like they did when they were young newlyweds. (at least they can until they get so aged they might have to live with their kids, etc. ) The cycles of life and how we live. My husband and I have the best, we own a 3 bedroom bungalow in the City close to a hipster neighborhood here in Chicago. We have a small backyard, which is perfect because we are approaching our 60's so it's still not too much for us. We are talking of moving to a smaller condo in a few years. No kids/grandkids. No dogs, 2 cats.

    세라 누나, 규호 형 :D I'm Jamie ! Long time no see !! How y'll doing?? Looks like you guys are safely back in Korea !! Ive been real busy since my school started a few weeks ago. I came back to Tennessee for my school after spending the whole summer in Korea. It was def worth it. I hope y'all are not too tired from jet lag !!
    About the question, I'd rather choose Korea than Canada or America. It's not because I dislike them. I do like living in America. However, I grew up in Korea, so everything is just more convenient and familiar to me. If I grew up in America, I would choose it over Korea. It's just the matter of each person's preference. They are equally lovely and beautiful in different ways. (but I do enjoy nature here, I can go jump off the cliffs and go waterrafting and such.)
    The most important thing is more of your way of thinking. Some people can be happy living in Africa. On the other hand, there are still people who are unsatisfied with their lives even though they literally have everything. ! I know it's a bit off the topic and not the exact answer that you'd expect, but it's true ! so I hope y'all are very satisfied with what you've got in Korea !!! Love y'all

    Like here in Portugal, we have like the centre of the city and the rest is calm, not busy. But the city centers aren't like Seoul. We have a few variety of stores in a reasonable quantity. Like in the US and in Seoul, from what I've seen in vlogs, if you want to eat something korean you search for a korean products market. Here in Portugal, where I live we only have portuguese stores with portuguese products or worlwide know products. I want to buy foreign products but it is impossible. Seoul was everything in every corner and is one of the most busiest cities. I would choose Seoul for that reason. (A little late but that is OK, right? XD)

    I live in Canada...but in the prairies, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. So everything is VERY spread out. I love the summer months and fall. The sky is beautiful and I don't mind driving where I need to then but I hate winter driving. We get so much snow!! I think I would prefer a compact city environment then. Or just live somewhere warm during the winter months. I wouldn't mind having summer and winter homes so I never have to deal with cold or snow unless I purposely want to go snowboarding...which living on the prairies doesn't help much either.

    This really made me appreciate where i live and i think i've actually taken it for granted :'D i'm still with my parents and live in a nice big house is a suburb surrounded by parks and there are convenient cafe's and other places to order/buy food and grocery stores really nearby. The beach is also just a few min away from where i live. And whenever i want to experience the bustling city i just need to catch the train (a short distance away) that will take me there in 25 min. I like the idea of living in seoul, however i'm not sure if i'd wanna live there for more then just a few years, because i do appreciate nature very much. South Korea is definitely an amazing place to travel to though and i can't wait to in the future! I live in Australia :)

    I have just recently got back from Seoul, visiting my little sister. She took me to Tongin market but we didn't have the Dosirak. We had this fried tteokbokki at one of the stall. It was different with other tteokbokki, this one was fried with a little oil, so that the red sauce becomes dry. I personally prefer this kind of tteokbokki, but I don't think this can be found easily. You should try that tteokbokki!

    I have lived in both Taiwan (compact city and convenient, but smaller and much busier/noisier) and New Jersey (open and spacious, and horrible public transportation), so I can understand how you guys are torn between both. Personally though, the United States is a bit more nostalgic for me, because I grew up there.
    For me it was that nostalgic value for me with the backyard and open space where I get to explore and find deer in my backyard and find a spring/hiking trail in my own neighborhood. I guess you guys just have to find that one special thing that will ultimately differentiate which type of place you want to be in.
    Best of luck, and I love your videos as always!

    So I'm from Berlin in Germany.... Berlin is a big city but not as big or crowded as Seoul but I do like it that you can go anywhere with the public transportation system (even if it does not work every time though -.-) But to relax properly I'll often go to my mum's house which is an hour from Berlin in the Spreewald where it's really quiet and the stores close at 8 pm and on saturdays at 4pm and that's really nice for a week or two X3

    • @2hearts1seoul
      @2hearts1seoul  9 лет назад

    • @SakeGirl44
      @SakeGirl44 9 лет назад +1

      +2hearts1seoul indeed it is!- the perfect combination of forest, lakes and city x3 the thing is that the transportation system outside of Berlin is not that good (one bus per hour or longer) and it is also very expensive (and the price is rising) so that you would need a car to get fast and cheap to your destination... but lucky enough Berlin is a very green city that's what I love the most about Berlin -
      and thank you so much for the nice answer! 🙈

    저도 규호씨와 생각이 같아요. 서른 초반까지는 서울에서 직장 생활 했지만, 지금 지방에서 직장생활 하는데 생활이 훨씬 여유가 생겼어요. 일단 부동산 가격이 싸니까 같은 월급에도 훨씬 여유가 있어 좋네요.

      네 그럼요. 어릴 적엔 서울에 화려함이나 왠지 큰도시에서 일을 해야 큰일 하는 것 같다는 생각에 사로잡혀 있던 거 같아요. 그래서 저와 맞지도 않는 직업을 억지로 붙잡고 매달렸으니까요. 유통회사 영업지원팀에서 일을 했는데 유통이라는 일이 사람 사귀는 일이더라구요. 그런데 그게 제 천성과 너무 맞지도 않고 보수는 적어서 서울의 높은 물가를 생각하면 미래가 갑갑했습니다.
      그렇게 미래가 보이지 않는 생활에 지쳐갈 때쯤 저 스스로에 대해서 심각하게 고민했었고 생각을 바꾸고 시선을 넓혀보니 기능인으로 사는 것도 나쁘지 않다고 여겨졌습니다. 정장입고 출퇴근 하던 생활에서 작업복을 입고 새로운 직업교육을 받고 산업현장에서 용접공으로 새삶을 시작했습니다. 이제 11년차 되어가구요. 3D 업종입니다. 위험하고, 더럽고, 까다로운 일이지만 정직하게 땀흘린만큼 벌고 있어요. 사실 여름엔 숨쉬기 힘들 정도로 덥습니다. 산업용 마스크, 귀마개, 안전모, 전신을 덥는 두꺼운 용접복, 무거운 안전화, 보안경 등의 안전 보호구로 몸의 일부분도 노출시키지 않아요.
      그리고 일 외적인 부분, 가끔 일년에 한, 두번 서울에 가면 과거에 내가 이 정신 사나운 곳에서 어떻게 5년이나 살았을까 싶은 생각이 들어요. 어떤 사람들은 지방 소도시는 무덤같이 조용하다고 푸념도 하지만 저는 그게 더 좋더라구요. 주말엔 등산을 겸한 다른 고장 여행하기 좋구요. 서울은 주말에 고속도로 막히는 거 겁나 짜증나잖아요.
      전,월세 부담이 훨씬 적으니까 제 아파트도 장만했구요. 지방산단은 출퇴근이 불편해서 거의 모든 직장인이 자가용가 있구요. 같은 돈을 번다면 더 너른 편한집과 여유를 주는 건 사실이죠.
      일년에 한, 두번 울 각시랑 수도권 산으로 등산가면서 서울 구경을 가는데 둘이 그래요. 와 이런 신기한 거도 있어 하면서 웃다가 우리 이제 촌사람 다 됐다고 키득거려요.
      서울의 문명을 포기하고 천천히 사는 삶을 선택했다고 할까요. 울 각시랑 저는 만족하고 있어요. 단, 울 각시가 저와 취미가 같고 자연을 즐기는 것을 좋아해서 적응하기 쉬웠던 거 같아요.

    I'm living in Canada for 1 and a half years and going back to Korea next year. Canada is a beautiful country. People are very nice. But sometimes I feel boring. Big cities in Korea are busy and crowded. But on the other hand, it is fun, dynamic and convenient. Also you can go anywhere cheaply and have good chances to learn many things. Now I really enjoy living in Canada, but I miss Seoul. If I go back to Korea, I'm going to miss many things of Canada. There is no perfect place. As for me, I like living in the city. I'll go to the countryside for vacation.^^

I do love living in Seoul now though, I've gotten too use to city life to live out in the countryside, but visiting would be perfect.

  • @woodywade2
    @woodywade2 8 лет назад +2

    Well, in Korea, I love the city and convenience. But a short trip takes you to the woods, or a cheap flight to Jeju. So you get everything.
    I loved living in the woods as a kid, but there were times when it was bad. Like being snowed in, power outages that wouldn't be taken care of because you were out in the woods. Or when your car was low on gas, and you didn't know if you can make it.
    So you sacrifice a back yard and roomier apartments that you don't get much time to enjoy, for convenience easily. Besides, with higher real estate prices, everyone is getting smaller and smaller places anyway.

    A village, definitely. I have a pet and write so more peaceful area is more satisfying for us. Animals should live outdoor, in touch with nature. When I brought my cat to a yard, after two years closed in a flat, he was mesmerized by nature and now just want to be out.

    I know this is a year or so late reply. Personally? I grew up in Singapore, a small and compact city. I believe it's roughly the same size? Everything is high rise and New York like. So if I'm given the choice between a spacious country, nature and house. I'll give up my city life any day or time. I love the huge spacious backyard, Sarah has in her home. I could lay there all day reading and dozing off. As compared to my small apartment here.

      2hearts1seoul Singapore will welcome you with open arms. Hahaha, it's pretty much Seoul like feeling to it. Except everything is spoken with either Mandarin or English.
      No cold weather though, it's kinda hot and humid. Hahaha, I saw you guys saying 17 degree C was kinda hot. Singapore averages 30-35 and at best 24-26 during monsoon season.

    I grew up in a unique suburban area in the United States. My neighborhood was situated between two lakes and in a heavily forested area. My home had a nice yard and nature trails nearby like Sarah's parent's home does. I currently live in Gwangju in the Jeolla province of Korea. I am so lucky that my neighborhood has many well developed parks, a reservoir and a river that runs by my apartment. Personally, I would prefer living in a compact city, with all the conveniences and depend only on the local parks and watering holes. When I get the itch for some more intense outdoor activities, I can catch a bus to the base of a mountain for some hiking. I assume in Seoul it takes much longer to get to the base of a mountain or a hiking trail??

    • @2hearts1seoul
      @2hearts1seoul  9 лет назад +1

      +Nick McKenna Sounds like you grew up in a beautiful place! I have several friends living Seoul who hike often, and as far as I know, it doesn't take too long to get to the base of mountains. I was actually surprised there were so many accessible mountains in Seoul when I first moved here.

    When I was little I used to live in Mexico. My house is actually at the bottom of a mountain and like you Sarah I had a big backyard as well. But I moved to Philadelphia (USA) and it's too expensive to live in a house so I live in an apt. I still can't adapt from going to a big house to a small apt. :( But there is no wifi back in Mexico where I live so that the only bad thing hahaha.

Its also really weird for me to not have a yard and somewhere for my dog to run freely but I mean in my old neighborhood I had to stand outside next to a telephone pole just to get wifi TT so Im torn lol

    I've used to lived in Jakarta. My house is small as compared to those in Canada and other parts of North America's. We had no backyard just a small space to grow plants. Life was not as convenient as Singapore, the place I'm living right now.. Jakarta has no proper transportation system, and having a car means traffic jam 24/7. On contrary, Singapore's transportation system is superb but people here are more busy and life is so fast paced. Almost all of us live in small apartment funded by the government but everything is here; playground, neighbourhood schools, fitness, and even elderly spaces. I can't imagine myself living life slow paced and living with ample space to round around with. But i would like to try so in my olden age :)

    To choose between those . I think it isn't necessary for me. Because the area that I'm staying at in Malaysia is very convenient and you just need 5minutes from the house to the shopping malls. 1minute to the wet market, convenient stores ,and school. The best part : just 30minutes drive to Singapore. And the house is spacious from the inside and outside. There's a big parking lot with a pond and patio outside. Having a car is a must if your not living in big cities like Kuala Lumpur. I do like Korea though.

      I went to Korea last week with my family and we tried all three transportation. We find korea alright but the only difficult thing was the language barrier. People there were helpfull and tried to show us ways even though they dont speak english. We were also lucky to find some Korean who can speak chinese. On the 3 of DEC we left korea and the most amazing thing that happened was it was snowing. It was an interesting journey in Korea for all of us.

    I've grown up in the country as well as in the suburbs, and have frequently visited the city here in Melbourne, I would say I prefer being closer to the city for ease of buying things and getting around with public transport, but when I get older I would probably like the country better. The best middle ground is just an inner suburb where you can have a house, public transport and be near to public parks and bike trails :)

    I need space and nature. I've never lived in the city, there's not many places to go barefoot, you don't see deer, foxes and other wildlife, and there's too much light pollution to watch the stars. I love adventuring, I don't mind living 45 minutes away from town, I spend less money that way.

  • @katewilloughby2141
    @katewilloughby2141 9 лет назад +1

    I've never lived in a city so I don't know. Where I live doesn't really cater to city living; the city has only recently been pushing for more apartments for people to live in because of the housing sprawls; even young people live in houses but have house mates to bring down the rent.
    So I think I would like the experience of living in a city; while I'm still young though because I do agree city living is more for the young.
    Another up side I guess would be that living in a smaller space would mean less cleaning haha and you couldn't hoard as much stuff because there's no room to have random stuff that you don't need/realise you have until you have to move out and wonder why you have 3 broken rice cookers, a surfboard and a box of old books that don't belong to anyone in the house -_-'
