Das war damals die beste Musik überhaupt ,kenne sie heute noch auswendig ,damals 1975 war ich gerade mal 13 Jahre jung ,das ganze album hörten ich und meine ältere Schwester jeden Tag ,Nektar super
A Tab In the Ocean, entire, and Recycled side A , compete to be Nektar's masterpiece. What is not few for those who also made Journey to the Centre of the Eye and Remember the Future and still, before I forget we're 1 of the 3 bands who will leave their names as the best rock bands ever, the others being Camel and Pink Floyd. May be an accentric opinion in 2022, but within 50 100 years ... I won't be here to confirm it jbut that's the way it will be.
Right Andrew Swartz? Recycled was the same way. 14 Down to Earth was the starter concept Album for them, although " Remember the Future " was like Tab in The Ocean as well. I saw them at The Palladium in NYC for Remember The Future. And in Long Island in Franklyn Square for Tab in The ocean. Each time I do not remember any other Band playing but Nektar. Tull was doing the same things at this point. And , really Floyd was as well.
That intro has still got to be one of the all time best prog rock intro's EVER! Had the pleasure of seeing them a few times back in the 70's. Still love em! R.I.P Roye Albrighton. Thanks for the music.
I remember buying Recycled first, the A Tab, then 14 Down to Earth, then Remember The Future. I was playing Bass then. I remember mimicking parts of A Tab and Recycled. There was nobody I could play this stuff with. Everyone was playing Allmans, Trafic, Cream, Mountain, etc. All my Buddies listened to this with me. But none were Musically adapting or progressing so as to have a partner in playing this stuff. Deep Purple was out and so was Zep and Sabbath. But Nektar, Henrey Cow/Slap Happy, Crimson, Blood Rock and some other bands were making up the rest of my collection. And I just couldn't find the people to play this stuff. So, it was me and the turntable. I thank all the forces of nature and God that helped me find this music and allowed me to turn so many others on to it.
Not too long ago, I tried to find a CD copy of the album. Nowhere to be seen, not even Amazon at the time! This is truly a buried treasure that needs to be unearthed!
The five eyed wing beast Soaring through my mind Giving me a glance of myself Through the eyes of mirror images Oh fifth world goddess Give me your sorrow So i can finally feel you warm-hearted Soul in my arms
Thank you Roye for those 43 years of inspiring music that I have really loved since the first chords I heard in 1973 ; you've put A Tab In The Oceans of my Musics and Songs ; as I remember my future, your songs make me feel as I am always 18 y o ( not nearly 62 ) ; thanks again Roye ; be fine where you are .
He had so much soul in his voice and rhythm in his guitar. The drummer was very in tune with Roye with is what made them so freaking tight. His right wrist was loose and fast like Tom Johnston of the Doobie Brothers. I know it seems like an odd comparison but I love both bands and I see the similarities.
I bought this second hand and thought it was great. I remember very well playing this being nervous as hell on the morning of my wedding - Sunday 30th April 1978.
I know Iron Maiden isn't Death, but apparently Steve Harris liked this band enough to cover a track from this album. Bad ass! Think these guys were hugely influential.
+EtArcadiaego In fact, Chuck Chuldiner was himself a great fan of Prog Rock and used a lot of the riffing and songwriting techniques in Death, and Prog Rock on their side, had taken these from Jazz.

Yes też był dobry
Any album that can be played all the way through is a good album.
This is their best by far IMHO. So many great progressive rock bands from the 70's. We need more of them now to counteract the bullshit on the radio.

A mini rock opera onto itself. Monster guitars, organ and riffs. Quiet moments too. Spectacular. One of my favorite rock works. Bloody inspired!!!!

tab in the ocean es una verdadera obra maestra del progresivo sicodelico de los 70s
tengo 40 años escuchandolos y no dejo de admirar sus discos
Je me demande comment de simples hommes ont pu avoir le génie de composer une telle pureté
Not too long ago, I tried to find a CD copy of the album. Nowhere to be seen, not even Amazon at the time! This is truly a buried treasure that needs to be unearthed!
Magnum Opus...Love this Album.
glorious, sweeping, magnificent, crushingly weird progressive rock. wow. brilliant. where's this been all my life?
The five eyed wing beast
Soaring through my mind
Giving me a glance of myself
Through the eyes of mirror images
Oh fifth world goddess Give me your sorrow
So i can finally feel you warm-hearted
Soul in my arms

Wow amazing art.

Remember seeing them several times in the 70s when bands toured to small venues of 2/300 people fantastic band.
I bought this second hand and thought it was great. I remember very well playing this being nervous as hell on the morning of my wedding - Sunday 30th April 1978.
SUPERRR!!!...ouvia isso com 15 anos (1977)...e até hj arrepia.
it´s very simple the best progressive rock song i ever heard
true nothing kitsch, its basically how supposed to be a true prog. rock as well the metal riff at the middle very innovative ,,
...good choice. It is certainly right up there for me.
sublime
Adoro esse álbum!
Very nice music! Nice to get to know - after over 40 years!
The riffage at 8:10 is fucking heavy! Probably one of the best riffs I've heard. Love this song, and I love that this band has grown on me.
it sounds very death metal, for a prog-rock band outta the '70's, that's for sure!
I know Iron Maiden isn't Death, but apparently Steve Harris liked this band enough to cover a track from this album. Bad ass! Think these guys were hugely influential.
No, it goes this way: DM sounds like this, as Nektar was long before it.
I saw them in '73. They were supporting Zappa. I was impressed!
Awesome! Didn't expect them to support zappa, but at the same time doesn't suprise me.
It was the London give on the Overnite Sensation tour!
Nice one, good gig !!
Really good, I like this more even than the most of pink floyd´s songs
This song is better then every pink Floyd song imo, who doesn’t like this lol
3:30 and 11:30 are pure magic.
❤❤️🔥🎸🎇
and at 8:09 begins what might be the greatest rock riff, ever.
very very well all.................................................................
This Nektar sounds so very sweeeeeet!!! The true "nectar'' of the Prog GODS!!!
RIP Roye Albrighton...
From 14:45 to the end...sheer, unadulterated bliss...
Wake up! Take a chance! Climb aboard!
Eu amo tanto essa msc 🥺🥺🫶
Ależ panowie potrafili połączyć piosenkowe granie z progresywnymi akordami. Pięknie się tych dźwięków słucha a jeszcze lepiej nuci. Bajka.
All this record is a marvelous trip, but Waves is such a sonic delight

Holy shit. 8:10 is the part that defines this song for me.
how about 3:30?
Un capolavoro!
How could they sound like a band that only appeared twenty years later ?
Hard rockin' band, this one.
After Dark Side of the Moon it's the next best space album of the early seventies. Absolutely wonderful!!!

the riff of 8:10 sounds like the Death metal band Amorphis
+EtArcadiaego In fact, Chuck Chuldiner was himself a great fan of Prog Rock and used a lot of the riffing and songwriting techniques in Death, and Prog Rock on their side, had taken these from Jazz.

No. It's progressive
