I just noticed Mr. Mudgin is played by the break-pads boss from Tommy Boy. Great short with solid practical effects that Who Framed Roger Rabbit would soon master.
dec++ i remember too many job interviews where i felt like a goldfish in a bowl and regarded as fish shit in the bottom of the bowl in my youth. i can remember how racist some hr people where back in the early '70's when i was out of high school and looking for work. even though i was white i always noted the gut feeling of bad racists in me.i've always believed in equal opportunity in the work place without distinction to race, creed, color, origin, sex and handicap( allowing for reasonable accommodation per the US ADA ACT OF 1990.)i noted how hr worked, talked, and acted. also learned how to handle the "open question," tell me about yourself". i would say that one question was 75% of the interviews as their is no prep for that one.now retired with a decent pension and soc. sec amounts each month as a result of good job decisions i made in the 1970's.hr is always the hardest hurdle to get thru in job searching. however, i do think they keep you calling back to weed out sorry people and see how you deal with a challenge and problem solving.going to your interviews dressed appropriate, having a working pen, demonstrating good computer skills and coming alone to your interview goes a long way in being hired. these things worked for me
Mr. Mudgin: Wouldn't you be much happier in showbiz? Boom: Happier? There's already plans for this new thing called.....CGI that's gonna boom in 11 years and hand-drawn cartoons like me will go out of business due to the rise of computer generated films.....and the only place to go is television. And even then, they'll replace some of it with weird live action kid sitcoms for most of the slots. It's better to get a business in the real world than go into obscurity. Mr. Mudgin: I see your point.
Certainly a type of matte process, hard to tell but they may have done that type that needed to put a black silhouette behind the character that sometimes appears off-registered due to process of having to optically matted these things in. The fact the character has very thick outlines perhaps negates that a bit.
are you suggesting that Disney "borrowed" copy written work" ?/ Gasp!!!!! of course they stole this.. it's a Canadian production so of course they stole it..
Does anyone remember a Canadian Fiomvoars short about a guy taking home a dying plant, he takes it back to his appartment and it ends up taking over the whole place? Please help me find it! Its driving me crazy.
Christopher Sobieniak I think they animated him in rubber hose style yet his character isn't designed to look good with that type of movement, but I could be wrong. I'm just going off of previous knowledge. It could also be he looks too 2D while the Movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit had them detailed and angled to look like they fit in with the real world.
A very overlooked piece of creativity.
Excellent film, even back in 1984.
I like the character of Buck Boom!
10:03 I really like the "live action zip" applying Smear frames to live action is very neat.
Awww buck boom is so cute 🥺🥺🥺🥺

"Secretary, would you PLEASE send somebody up here to get this BALL out of this TUBE"
Doesn't take much to see that Mr. Boom must've been one hell of a nightmare to animate, especially when his movements are over the top.
It's harder to do a more realistic character actually.
@@VinluvAntonHandesbukia I mean to get him to sync with the live-action footage.
This was so cute. And weirdly inspiring!
Wow!! Four years before Who Framed Roger Rabbit!
Of course when this came out, I'm sure they were still working on Roger Rabbit anyway since work on that started few years earlier.
True, but Disney scooped up the film rights pretty quickly.
yup disney stole it...
I wouldn't say outright stole if they paid Gary Wolf an initial sum originally.
Yep sure does
man I wish my job interviews were shot in such awkward angles, instead its all fish eye and close ups.
That's what the people want!

I don't blame ya
LOL.
The voice actor sounds like a crossbreed of Tom Kenny and Billy West
@John Collins He probably used all his good voices in this
Never see I like Bob Dog better, love the animated character, thought it was Buck Boom!
Dear God!!!! I haven't seen this since I was 15 years old!! Back when Cartoon Network WAS Cartoon Network!!!! Ahhh the memories :) :) :) :)
I remember seeing this one night on "O Canada" around 2000. It was pretty cool to see it again after so long.
Yeah, that was it! O Canada would show at 12AM in Cartoon Network. Staying up and watching it that late at night was totally worth it, lol!
So that's where I saw this! I vaguely remembered this one but couldn't figure out where I'd seen it.
Pre-Adult Swim Adult Swim
Sure it did
This feels like a classic.
This was impressively done. I think the man's eye contact with the cartoon character could have been better.
This channel is just amazing it sad there is no millions subscriber ... please keep the amazing work I really wish you all the best
This is actually hillarious
Mr. Mudgin: Wouldn't you be much happier in showbiz?

Thank you for uploading this. I used to watch this as a kid and haven't been able to find it until now!
This was a lot of fun to watch :) I thought it was Brain from Inspector Gadget from the thumbnail! But I wasn't dissapointed, he's a fun character!
Very cute animation!❤🙂👍
It’s like a shapeshifting Roger Rabbit.
That cartoon dog is making that other cartoon dog from Get A Job more decent.
Wow; this pre-dates Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Not too bad, if I may say so.
Not too bad considering there were no cartoon shadows, reflections, lighting and shading elements added.
11:18 “YYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS, Mr. Boom?”
This is great
We all got our struggles, actor dog... Lol
Anyone remember this as part of O Canada on CN back in time? I have.
This is incredible.
I actually like that
I first saw this film on 16 mm back in 1967. I have always remembered this as an XLNT use of stop action filming
That's impossible, lol. This is from 1984.
How The Heck Did They Do This? This is Just As Good As Roger Rabbit!
DUDE!
I saw this short years ago on O Canada! on Cartoon Network, and I almost forgot about it until I saw the title and thumbnail!
We're happy you found it here!
This film came out 4 years before "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and I wonder if it may have had some kind of influence.
5:10 looks like snoop dogg album
Reminds a bit of Sam and Max.
I like the Macbeth reference at 4: 38
Boom acting like daffy
This is super cool
this is like Roger rabbit isn't it
+Guest Mann Yes. The techniques used are very similar.

Much like animations from Grim Natwick to Studios Fleisher in 1930
4:45 that line was spoken by an old man; not a lady!
"under control"
So many treasures from The Great White North.
That cartoon would have been great at Taskmaster.
It would have been hilarious is he had to fire Mudgin at the end
Mr.Boom gives me anxiety by constantly moving
Buck Boom is titled reference was the phone call list in Emergency Numbers from Canada Vignettes.
"Ms.Pebody"
I'm sure it's spelled "Peabody".
BECAUSE I'M BLACK?!?!?!?!
he's just fainted once, too bad caused was a dog character looked like Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny, maybe.
Had a tough time finding this. Just kept typing “cartoon job interview” and it never shows.
mr boom sounds like he was voiced by billy west
dark of doodle world
7:24 😂
I can't beelieve there's a knotting joke in this.
Does anyone remember a Canadian Fiomvoars short about a guy taking home a dying plant, he takes it back to his appartment and it ends up taking over the whole place?

Feels like a French movie for some reason.
Did anyone else see the picture and think this is the design for Brain from Inspector Gadget?
Ya first
lol
The shots look they came from the 1960s
Dead inside
It's so annoying the way he's animated XD
Well he is a "cartoon character" and I suppose they simply wanted to play off that fact.
Christopher Sobieniak I think they animated him in rubber hose style yet his character isn't designed to look good with that type of movement, but I could be wrong. @Ahmad Nasser Sorry I can't believe I didn't catch that typo
Ren and stimpy is expected thing
BECAUSE I'M BLACK?!
why is this in my recommended
The first thing that happened was kinda racist
It's a racial allegory..
