  • Don't be fooled by the straightforward title-this wacky short animation is a hilarious take on the history of how we got back and forth across this country's vast distances and great obstacles. The whole story of transportation is told with tongue-in-cheek seriousness, from the intrepid trail blazers of long ago to the aircraft of today and tomorrow. Have a laugh and learn something all at once!

I remember watching this in school in the late 50s. We had just studied the transcontinental railroad and this was supposed to support our lesson!

This won the short film Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, great Canadian talent and the director(Colin Low) helped to develop the Imax format.

Loving the "cartoon modern" stylization of it! Great work all the way back in 1952!

This is a really great video, even for someone who is not from Canada, like me. I love the cartoon simplicity and good humor. I'll be showing this to my little one. Thank you very much!

Very entertaining video with all the musical scores and very interesting to watch and know our obsession with travel over the last few centuries.

What a brilliant film. I think it definitely was influenced by U.P.A. It was nominated for an Academy Award in 1952. I feel fortunate to have seen it. Thank you for sharing.

Oh, fuck off. If you don't want to live in a country that subsidises the arts, there's a wonderful shithole south of the 49th parallel waiting for you. Try not to get shot.
