This Adelphi Zuidam (Millstone) has been on my radar for a while. Your enthusiasm about it persuaded me to finally go for it now, before it's all gone! Interesting fact from this AD bottling is that it's only 165 bottles from a PX cask. It was already de-casked in 2018 - as it is 19 y.o. 1999 whisky which was only bottled in 2021. This makes me believe that the rest of the cask was in fact originally used in 2018 to create the Adelphi Winter Queen II, which is a fusion blend of Zuidam/Bowmore/Mortlach/Teaninich. Age stated 19 years old because of the Zuidam part that went into it. Probably also worth a try when you come across it 😉Thanks for your review(s) ladies! Positive, cheerful and excellent tasting notes, always a joy to watch!
You two can't make it 3 minutes in any of these reviews without cracking up laughing... so, liked and subscribed. It's perfect. =) Fascinating whisky, too, and not one I think I'm ever likely to see in the US.
Come to this one a bit late. I kind of split my time between Edinburgh and Netherlands for home and work so have had a lot of time to try Dutch whisky. Zuidam's whisky which is usually marketed as Millstone is pretty much the only Dutch whisky I have found that is actually good. The Millstone range has some great bottles, particularly their 100 proof rye is a good one to look at.
I love Zuidam single malts and I would really enjoy trying an Adelphi release of this. Thanks for sharing your tasting thoughts, and for keeping it fun. Cheers!
@@TheGrailTastings @Graham Fraser Graham you have enough whisky already. :). Just wish I could actually see your collection someday. Slainte all from Calgary.
I'm from the Netherlands So I've tried some Zuidam products. The barrel aged jenever and gin are very nice, when you like whisky and want to try something different. Their Rye is a real blaster. Packed with bold flavours.
I've tried many Zuidam products over the years, but their small batch 5yo. Korenwijn (a style of Genever) is still their masterpiece, which is no wonder, cause this is their home territory. 1999 2nd year highschool?! You look younger than me.
Lovely video! How much did this one cost you, if you remember? It's still available at a local store here in the Netherlands, but they want 280 euros for it. Bound to be great whisky, being Adelphi, Zuidam, Cask Strength, 19yo and well rated here - but it's a steep price nonetheless!
We only got a wee sample rather than a full bottle of it unfortunately. Think that sounds about right for the price, it is expensive but if it's within your whisky budget we'd definitely recommend it is very tasty 😊
the "old" Zealand that makes New Zealand 'new' is in the Netherlands. Zealand is where Copenhagen is and boarders Denmark... maybe the root of all the confusion!
I think you are confusing that with ‘De Waddenzee’. In the north of the Netherlands. ‘Zeeland’ is in the south-west of the Netherlands. Bordering Belgium.

Awww I want to see a Gorbals distillery again!! I know there is Strathclyde but what about a malt... pure weegie whisky 😋
Totally agree!! Clydeside has it's first dram out so that's exciting!

We don't Graham 😢 sorry about that, it sold out in a minute!

Amazing, thanks so much for the recommendations!! We'll need to try to source some of these to try 😋

Oh we've never tried the small batch 5, that sounds intriguing! Whisky keeps Jen young (we like to think 🤣)

Ahh interesting!! We didn't know that. . . Rachel is bad with geography anyways but that is a good excuse for this confusion at least 😂
