You know who warms my heart? Martina Šafusová, Diana Raynes, Katerina Idrik, Hervé Saint Raymond, John-Alan Pascoe, Tony Chu, Seth Bergenholtz, and Barbara Velázquez. They took the time to transcribe and translate this episode for you. :D
i love how she totally geeks out on those catalogues. :D
Yup, that's why this channel works. She's our proxy.
Being Australian I was honored that a Platypus was the first entry in the ledger.
You never know Emily, in a couple of years you could be helping to restore Carl akleys hyenas
+Reilly Hessing ... YOU'RE RIGHT
Carl Akley's elephants. She's got action with them
Having grown up in Chicago I've always taken the museum for granted, going there for field trips every other year, but this just makes me go back and go through EVERYTHING.
Going back into these videos and seeing Bill Stanley makes me both so happy and heartbroken, he was such an interesting guy!
I know. We miss him and his enthusiasm around the Museum very, very much.
i love how clear the passion and amazment in your voice is. I just love how we get to see how you truely feel about these things, and to borrow a quote "passionate people can change the world."
Carl Akely's handwriting! That's beautiful
As a Chicago native, I can honestly say the Field Museum is one of my favorite places to visit in Chicago. Ever since I've started going when I was young, It's a place that has continued to fascinate me at all ages. The preserved mammals have always been one of my favorite attractions; to see what goes on behind the scenes and how far back some of these animals date truly blows my mind. Thank you thebrainscoop and the field museum for letting us share the experience!
I think what I love most about these Field Museum videos is how much of what he says is how I feel (very passionately) about in regards to history. The importance of preserving, and documenting history for the future, and learning as much as we can to better understand, well, everything. These are just so amazing, and I can't tell you how much it means to me to see that what I love and what I want to do really exist, and people can live their passion
It's great watching this and seeing how happy they both are. It's one thing to see how ecstatic Emily gets, but to have her with Bill just shows how vital the science behind this stuff is. There's nothing like watching two experts getting enthusiastic about their field, and so informative! Thanks Heather!
I would just like to thank you, Emily, for not being afraid to be a smart person and to let that shine through. You get so excited about learning and delving into your passion. It is an inspiration to myself and I am sure to others to follow your dreams courageously and to pursue your happiness.
being amazed by these episodes at 3am is sO AAAHHHHHH
I'm enjoying the Chicago adventures. Emily's unbridled enthusiasm coupled with everyone's knowledge makes for a great viewing experience. Thanks, all.
One of the major reasons I keep watching The Brain Scoop is because I love your passion for the subject matter, it's so genuine and lovable! (:
tvh I started tearing up seeing Emily in this. Her freaking out is really touching, I love it when good things happen to amazing people who deserve it. And thinking what came out of this trip for her ... yeah, you go Emily!!
Emily's genuine, overwhelming excitement makes these episodes even better. Great work, guys!
This is by far one of my favorite channels. I never would have expected that this subject matter would come to mean so much to me...Thank you Emily and Michael! You guys are so awesome!
Always happy to see Emily being really excited about things. It's her joy and fascination that are contagious.
Emily you are a precious gem. Humans and animals are so fortunate to have you.
Its so wonderful to see someone so passionate and excited about something that they love and are interested in. I feel too often in society today it is looked down upon as something not "grown up" or "cool" to do and I think that it is just awesome to see you so excited, Emily :3 I'm so glad you got to have this experience.
emily, i have been so excited for you about your move, but i'm rewatching these videos now and i am getting so emotional. you are wonderful and the work you and michael do is invaluable and i wish you the absolute maximum happiness and success in chicago
They must have loved having someone so enthusiastic to show all this amazing stuff too, not to mention the project you did it for. I'm so glad this exists! Thank you so much.
The amount of sheer excitement, joy, and amazing that Emily exudes whilst looking at those records is just so damn infectious. I love it!
Seeing how excited and fascinated you are makes me equally as excited, when I normally would've been a few steps below. Thank you for helping me realize how important this is.
I just heard the news about the Brain Scoop moving to the Field Museum! Emily, I am so happy for you that you get this AMAZING opportunity!!! Congratulations on this exciting adventure! You've worked so hard and come so far. I'm excited that it's paying off!
Just seeing how excited you guys are and how important and special this is to you made me tear up.
You made my day, completely. Not only because it was really interesting (I love journals so things dating back to the 19th century are just... gah!!) but mostly because you are so happy about it. it just makes me cheerful.
Emily, your enthusiasm is so infectious! I honestly had very little interest in natural history before watching the Brain Scoop but watching you get excited about this stuff makes it really easy for me to as well.
Love love LOVE these Chicago episodes.. The world thanks you, Heather Hsu!
I love that you can see how enthusiastic Emily is about everything. It's great and makes people appreciate it that little bit more.
Thank you again Heather Hsu! I didn't want this episode to end I could have watched hours of it, it's so great to see Emily's enthusiasm :)
I loved so much to see Emily's responses to seeing various things. So much enthusiasm.
When he mentioned it was for the Chicago World's Fair it all made sense and I was making excited noises. I love seeing science and history linked like this, it's so exciting! Everything is connected! I also love seeing Emily so excited! These are the times I want to go to library school.
Oh my goodness, that's fascinating! I love the brain scoop so much, but this has to be my favourite video series on the channel so far.
Congrats Emily. Your infectious passion for this subject has had me hooked on your video uploads. Best, from London UK.
I like that her passion is easily seen. Its contagious!
I love seeing how excited Emily gets, it makes me even more excited to be seeing these things.
Emily, it is so exciting to see you hardcore nerd out over all of these logs and ledgers! Thanks for sharing with us!!
Thank-you so much Heather Hsu! These videos are great and supporting them is important!
You are so excited!! It's so rare I get to see people fangirl over the same things I do, it's awesome how enthusiastic you are!!
Emily you are so awesome! I love listening to you get so excited over things you're passionate about
Emily, you're so smart and passionate and just a wonderful human being in general and I hope you get to continue doing this for a long time because this kind of "science for the masses" is really important to me.
Emily's excitement over all of these things makes me all the more excited about them! And I already found it fascinating. And those old books, being used regularly still, and just... askldfjaklsdj I'd love to study the handwriting in some of those books.
I've visited the museum so many time, and even went to prom there, but to see all that is behind the exhibits is so amazing
"The whole idea of the expo was to show the weird and wacky world around us."
All animals listed are from Australia.
Good job being weird and wacky, Australia!
Emily's excitement is so contagious. love it!
I love books. Seeing such old ones, especially hand written, is so amazing. Knowing they were hand written by a highly respectable person makes it all the more exciting! Jealous of your journey :)
Congratulations on the new job at the field! It's beautiful watching your dreams come true.
Whenever I start to doubt my major or my choice of going to the school I do, your videos always rekindle the hope in me that I will someday do this kind of research. Thank you for reminding me that it's all worth it, Emily.
It's awesome to see Emily get really excited over this kind of stuff. You can just see her passion. Makes it that more interesting.
Lots of 'what's and lots of 'wow's :)
I'm so happy you got to do this and share it with us Emily!
I'm so happy that she got to do this, it must be a dream come true. It's awesome to watch too.
I love the Brain Scoop so much. This particular video has once again reminded me to be extra detailed in writing field notes in my own research.
Your collection of different glasses frames is awesome. Btw thanks for the great video and thanks Stanley for all the cool info about the beginning of the field museum.
This show always makes me so proud that I also do museum work! Thank you for making such a wonderful thing.
Oh man, I go to the field museum monthly, and I have never heard of any of these behind the scene things. So good!!!
I love how enthusiastic you are. This channel is amazing, everything is so interesting. Thanks for sharing it. x
This is so awesome. It is so cool to see how excited Emily is about this.
I almost started crying watching Emily almost cry! How amazing it must have been!
You DID very nearly cry! Emily you are a pleasure to watch, I love you and I love brain scoop so much!
Heather, you are good people, thank you for these episodes
I LOVE this, watching people's dreams come true is just absolutely the best.
You, Emily, are having an excitement-gasm. CONGRATULATIONS- the world is awesome again!
I absolutely adore her passion about this stuff
I love your enthusiasm, Emily. It's definitely contagious :)
This is so cool! Emily sounds so excited! I love these!!
I love natural history and Science in general. So I adore these videos! Glad to see your getting funded so there will hpefully be more and longer episodes! Great job Emily, and Bill's voice is just a sexy
This is the most inspirational episode of Brain Scoop ever.
I just adore how much Emily loves this stuff.
Collections managers are some of my favorite people, what a wonderful visit!
I like this visit to the Chicago museum, and i hope it has a lot more episodes!
This really gets me in the Library Science/Archives gut. Keeping these records and preserving them is just as important as keeping the specimens. Wooooooo!
Emily, I love your enthusiasm! I can't help but get just as excited :D
So much nerding, so little time. Stellar!
1. Heather Hsu you are amazing. And wherever you are, I am giving you a huge round of applause and a hug.
2. Emily, its really great seeing someone get so excited not only about their own work, but work others did in the same field, Its really refreshing.
3. I really hope I can get to Chicago someday soon.
this episode was so intriguing to watch the rich history the legacies left behind are still most valuable to the field itself
This was so exciting to watch. Now I want to point out how much MORE exciting it is to see those 100 year old hand written books than "Here's our workstation where you can access the information in our server".
Again, we viewers owe a lot to Heather Hsu for funding this Brain Scoop trip.
I love how genuinely enthusiastic you are Emily!
Thanks again to Heather Hsu and to the very interesting (and hopefully watching) Mr. Stanley. I'm rather disappointed from the lack of info I found on you and your work online. Most just tout your expertise and abilities with almost no information on your work, what it does, and why you do it...in Africa... and why mammals... and a thousand other unanswered questions.
As a suburban Chicagoan, this is so cool! I haven't been to the Field since I was little, but I definitely want to go back soon!
I am loving this Chicago adventure!!
I LOVE how truly interested and passionate she is.
I have a new appreciation for natural history museums. Teach me more Emily et co!
I love how blown away Emilie is. That just shows how dedicated she is: she knows her stuff.
I love that she's so happy and excited.
I love your reactions. Such passion!
Aaaah! This is totally exciting! I said "WHAT?!" at nearly the exact same time Emily did when the words "duck-billed platypus" were mentioned. I'm so happy for Emily that she gets to work there. And that we get to watch her already-awesome videos in this museum.
Don't be ashamed of getting teary-eyed over those amazing records. As a librarian, I would blink away tears over those ledgers!
I love Emily as a host because her enthusiasm for things like the platypus and Teddy R's son make me feel normal for getting so excited about them too.
I always get so excited when this show pops up in my sub feed :D
God I love the Field Museum. And Brain Scoop. All my favorite things!
My favourite part was your reaction to the platypus. It was awesome how excited you got about it.
I love Emily's enthusiasm and excitement for what she's interested in. You are the biggest nerd! (that was a compliment by the way)
Those books are amazing! As an archivist I preserve records like this. It is fun to see reasons why it is so important! Love it!
Love the enthusiasm, Emily. Keep up the awesome work.
I love the Field Museum. I went on my first date with my now wife there.
your enthusiasm is absolutely infectious!
I just love emily's genuine enthusiasm for all of this stuff
your passion is so contagious!
I spent this whole video yelling "WHAT OMG" along with Emily in this video. What an absolutely amazing collection.
I love how excited you get!
