This is the kind of thing I just look at online but can never justify purchasing. Fantastic bit of kit, thanks for sharing it with us Dave. Id pair this with me Tidal subscription and a pair of Sennheiser cans 🙂
Great review thanks! I saw right at the beginning of the review you had a VU meter on your screen. I've got an R9 and can't for the life of me find the meter! Can I ask if it's a separate app and if so, where to find it? I can't find any reference to the meter in the unit display settings....
It’s hard to tell the difference. This seems to have more features and sits in a full system well. The Astell has stunning build quality, a more solid sound stage and can be used portable too.
Listened to it today with a pair of Focal Clear MGs. Too bright for me. Like my own combination Chord Poly/Mojo2 with Clear MGs better. But to each their own.
More like a "fixed" FiiO R7 considering the latency issues due to it not having an XMOS chip for USB connectivity. $1500 is a laughable for a device with planned obsolescence in terms of software/firmware support. Definitely not a viable upgrade compared to it's predecessor.

Cheers Bob. I am planning some Apple Music on this. Great from the NAS too.
Very cool player, they did an amazing job with the design, not flashy just stylish.
Cheers Darren. I totally agree.

Sorry, I did an update and now cannot find it.
@@geekanoids Aaaargh 😄
Cool video, how does it compare to the Astell & Kern ACRO CA 1000?

Is the price justifiable?
So many features and top quality, I think so. There are deals from time to time too.

Thanks for sharing your experience with these.
So when i wan to use a soundbar would this work. Like from gpu to in hdmi then hdmi out to soundbar?.
Will i get like hd dts or atmos?
Sorry I am not sure on this.
Why would you not need the XLR? any one willing to pay the price of this D.A.P .will most likely have headphones with a XLR cable
Very true. I am still acquiring headphones. My latest pair is indeed XLR. Review coming soon.
Is it good for gaming consoles (PS5) as well?
It could work in that scenario but I have not tested.
Now that's a cool audio player 🙂
Cheers. I am very impressed.
The portion seemed like it had the SD fuller. I say, it’s nice and quiet at 09:35.
🤓👍🏻
So it’s an android phone connected to an amp
Yes, but with some great amps and tech inside. Pure class.
Still no output option for DSD multi channels at this price !!!
🤓👍🏻
Wow. How does it sound?
It sounds amazing.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this 🤓👍🏻
1500usd what were they thinking 😵💫🤔
Yes it is a lot. The R7 is almost as good, with a much better price.
