It was worth doing my research for 5 hours straight and finding the right video that FINALLY and briefly explains the difference between the lens and what it is compatible with. Great video!
What's about putting your Hero11 in 5.3k 60 SV and throw on the MaxLens2.0 WITHOUT enabling the MaxLensMod mode on the GoPro. Wouldn't it be possible to do some cropping and lens correction in post and get about 4K60 with the same FOV like the Hero12 with LensMod2.0 in MaxLens mode?
EDIT: I bought the MLM2.0 to test this. It's kinda possible but it's painful. At first you have to disable hypersmooth as well. The u can try to correct the lens manually that works but then you have zero stabilization. I decided to make a Gyroflow lens profile but that didn't work, because Gyroflow don't like this insane blacks on the sides. My way to go is: Film 5.3K 25 8/7 with about 1.2 - 1.3 zoom. Hypersmooth off, and then you have not so big black borders. then you can create a Gyroflow profile.
@@timzanderwould you recommend buying the max lens mod 2.0 for the hero 11? Or is the max lens 1.0 better because its compable or is super view with the normal lens enough
@@felixvillmow3019He explains it’s better to go with the max lens mod 1.0 for the 10 and 11. GoPro ISInt in the business of making stuff backwards compatible. They want people to buy their new cameras.
The GP 12 is freakin awesome! They have massively improved the low light performance with the hypersmooth 6.0 on, the audio is better, batteries last longer and I think the picture is much better than my 11. When shooting into the sun with the 12 it still picks up all the color. Its incredible. So far from my experience they have fixed all the issues the 11 had and for me it was worth the upgrade. The GP12 is the current king of action cams.
@@GrenlandUnderVann To be fair, he implied that it improved the low light performance from the previous GP versions, not comparing with DJI. The GP10/11 were horribly glitched in low light, so if that is improved, it is very welcomed. I have seen the vids showing the DJI does better in low light than GP12, but if GP12 doesn't completely glitch like the 10 and 11, on balance, I'd like what the GP gives me because I don't do a lot of low-light video. Just don't want the little I do to look like utter trash.
@@markstumpf6531 Hero 12 is basically the same as Hero 11 in low light. In my experience the only way to significantly improve these in low light is to turn off Hypersmooth and use a gimbal.
Yeah I have the go pro 11 and I’ll be honest the ace pro and DJI have better low light. Only reason why I’m sticking with GoPro is because I like the cloud saving. Probably a dumb reason but that’s my reason.
It would be nice to see what happens if you film not in max lens mod mode without stabilization at lets say 4k 120 and use gyroflow to stabilize. That way 2.0 could be even usable on hero 11, 10 or 9. I would love to see that test.
I have a gopro 10 and without knowing I bought the max lens 2.0. The intention is to film ski videos on steep terrain, should I definitely change to max lens 1.0 or can I make it work with max lens 2.0?
It would probably be the same but if it wasn't, I doubt it would make much of a difference in this case. Bigger lenses can be darker or brighter depending on the quality of the optics and how they are designed.

Finally a video showing the view comparisons! Thank you!

Try the DJI Action 4 before you rave about Hero12 in low light.

The most mind blowing issue now is how GoPro enable front+rear mic for GP12 media mod but not for GP11
It’s coming in a future firmware update

I came here for answers about 4:3. It's the best way to go on the first lens. What are the frame rates and res on the 2.0 set to 4:3?
I love those dirtbike clips
Great video. Is there a linear option with Max Lens Mod 2. Would love the wider FOV but I like to keep the linear option on.
Does max len 2.0 support to use for GoPro 11 pls. I don’t want to upgrade to GoPro 12 .
I know he didnt mention it.
In GoPro 11 no option for Max Mode 2.0 lens, just regular Max Mode
Great video mate. I've just got the Max Lens Mod 2.0 and I'm still having a good play around with it. All the best.
What is this used for mostly?
You have one of the anamorphic lens right? What happens when you use the max lens mode with those? I have a 10/anamorphic/no max lens test.
Max lens 2.0 is way good. 🤘⚡️🤘

Will the Max Lens 2.0 fit on a Hero 12 With the Madia Mod also attached? Would love to know.
Can you use the Max Lens 2.0 on a GoPro 12 in 4k at 60 fps in linear mode with Horizon Lock on and not have the fish eye effect at all?
I am really enjoying the 12 and getting used to how the MLM2.0 functions.
Max lens 2.0 work on hero10?
So if we leave HyperSmooth to "On" and not boost with the normal lens using HyperView, is it as wide as using the Max Lens 2? Especially vertically...
Thank you! you are my Gopro go to! i used all your info for my Real Estate videos Thank you so much
whats the best combination please to get the widest camera angle possible
You should have more views. You're the first place I go to for GoPro info 🤙
Thanks. Finally I know that the Max Lens Mod 1.0 I've bought for my 11 Mini is the best solution for it and the MLM 2.0 is not
Max lens mod 2.0 work with gp11?
my max lence mod does not have the water coating, a real pain and leaves drips on the lence
Will the max lens mod 2.0 work on a gopro hero 9?
He said no software to support on 9, 10 & 11
More curious about the anamorphic mod
They should really add v2 compatibility to the 11 via firmware but I wont hold my breath...
Is max lens mod 2.0 compatible to Gopro 11?
No.
Great review,
It’s working in 9´ also
Best GoPro ever
Agree

Anyone knows how much the f-number on the lens changes with these mods attached? I guess they steal some light.
