The Diplomacy is really fun to play around with, but can be frustrating too if you don't have any neighbors. You really can't generate leverage if other players aren't creating grievances against one another or yourself. Other than that, the system is fun, dynamic, and a good addition to the game.
I have played every Civ, but I like HK far more than any Civ. So sad it's stuck on "Mixed" on steam, even after so many patches; updates; and DLCs. It's better than ever if you ask me.
Was supposed to drop on the 4th on gamepass but to my sadness it postponed. I’m hoping they we’re just waiting for this new content and it will drop soon 🤞
I miss playing Humankind, but the 'overheating PC' bug is still occurring for me, even with all the attempted fixes (official and unofficial). Meaning I can't play for more than an hour or two without it getting steamy hot.
The words “Bulgarian” and “Bulgar” aren’t exactly the same. None of what was talked about is representative of Bulgarians, but of Bulgars. This distinction is important because “Bulgarians” refers to Orthodox Christians that speak and write a Slavic language and are mixed with Slavs, Thracians and many other peoples. “Bulgars” refers to nomadic Turks that speak a Turkic language, are pagans and are mixed with other different Turkic tribes, which is pretty much what the game is referring to.
11:00 The Singaporeans, while they may not have an emblematic District which feels worthy of the Contemporary era, have at pretty snazzy Legacy trait. As Multiplying your City Defense Militia by 100% can easily make ALL your cities have 0 upkeep Armies that are only available once those cities are attacked. But, of course, that's a defensive ability first and foremost.
Guess I have to play a “leverage cultures only” playthrough now. Seems fun especially since I like playing as one mega city with a bunch of attached regions.
It can be fun but also hard since unlike every other mechanic you're kinda relying on the AI for good and consistent leverage collection. I had playthrough today where I was like a big kind dad to other empires who were fighting each other constantly, tresspassing my territory, etc. But I was ignoring all grievances and turned them into leverages, eventually I became ally to all empires and lead Humankind using diplomacy :) But that won't happen every playthrough, if you have aggressive neighbors they will just declare war and you can't collect leverage from them during the war.
Whiskeyyyyy??? Can you do another series where you fully unlocked every military might, like Submarine, Aircraft Carrier and Fully modern army. Last is all cities you occupied will have a every possible buildings unlocked.
I already like the effort they clearly put in to making a unique diplomatic system, I can't wait to see how these new mechanics play out! +5 leverage against youtube.
The first two emblematic districts are great, they're weak by themselves, but if you are actively getting leverage, they can add a great deal to your early game. Sadly, the rest were uninspired and weak.
I'm looking forward to your opinion on things. I enjoy Humankind a lot, but I'm not a big fan of the expansion. Leverage seems tedious to me, since you have to constantly scan the map to see if any new leverage has popped up then send your envoys to pick it up. While innocent enough on its own, doing this each turn really adds to overall game time. The AI also seems bad at acquiring and using it, meaning I'm the senate by the time the congress of Humankind comes together. It's pretty amusing to have final say on all crises though.
@@ruud9761this is true and the way to use them although if you want specific leverage against one empire it's better to keep an eye out for when they spawn
Would really love to know what happened with the console port and why it got indefinitely delayed less than a month before launch...their social media accounts have literally been deleting comments from people asking about it. But their account liked my comment when I said "this is all on Aspyr"
Don't know to really pinpoint the problem for me. But somehow it feels tedious and dragging along which makes me abandon every playthrough attempt around the second culture change. Instead of the Civ "one-more-turn" Addiction, i get tired of playing.
This game is missing something critical but I can't put my finger on it. I think diplomacy is too simple and combat a bit tedious and city/sector design a bit vanilla too. Just needs a bit more ooomph and this game would be top tier but atm I keep staring at it unplayed in my library.
I kind of liked the game and i never had any performance issues but i found the combat system really sucks and is no fun. And since its an important part of the game it prevents me from playing anymore. So i'll pass on the DLC.
The new barbs (er... independent people) are out of control, roaming something like 10 territories away from their redoubt... and the aesthete's active ability is granting something like 540-960 influence in the ANCIENT era (anything other than Zhou or Olmec instantly becomes unpickable, including the new Sumerians). One thing about the diplo system is that envoys/spies are a waste--all you have to do is renounce grievances in the diplo screen and you get like 5 leverage for each one (if you've culturally and/or religiously dominated your neighbors you will have more than enough leverage than you already know what to do with, so the diplo civs are basically useless)
I bought this game at lunch, it was a half baked civ knock off. After a year and I guess a few dlcs I can confidently say the devs can go shove it. The game is still unfinished and they went the route of making you pay even more money for a still unfinished game. If you enjoy the game that's good for you. I for one am very pissed that I wasted money on this.
I rather like it, though I hope modding becomes more prevalent, which I doubt. That said I always hate the retreat options amplitude studio gives all their games. It’s really annoying to deal with.
This game still suffers from bad game design at its core. How does it make sense to start as Sumeria, only then to become Han, Bulgarians, and Swiss, in order to end up as Singapore? What a horrible, shitty design this is. And this is why this game is so unsuccessful. Imagine RPGs would work like this.
honestly i kinda just dont like humankind the whole modding scene just ruins it like even the best mods constantly throw endlessly loading turns for me which just dont ever resolve and basically bricks the save even then theres only really like 5 mods which just its not enough to keep shit interesting after such a long amount of time being forced to only pick one or two mods is just fucked like civ modding is horrid but at least you can use more than two and have it work

But if you city state on nearby independant peoples then you end up with tons of international sway anyway
wow a new humankind and a civ 6 expansion

Thanks Potato! Would love to see more Humankind videos!
Heck yeah, I’ve been waiting for your video on this
You say you love me, but you never visit, you never call...
After installing the DLC and tried a few games I found the AI becoming more friendly, minor factions are still barbarians though X)
Gotta make contact with them and get their trust up. They'll stop attacking you then

Humankind and Civ expansions! Well, I know what I’m saving my Christmas money for.

Hey potato! Was wondering if and when you would play again Terra Invicta, i got addicted when i saw It and i need my dose!
I had stopped playing this game months ago. Thanks to this video I may give it another try!
It greatly improves with every update.
I already like the effort they clearly put in to making a unique diplomatic system, I can't wait to see how these new mechanics play out!
+5 leverage against youtube.
I think diplomacy is the best part of Humankind, grievances and leverages are really well done.
You know, this kinda reminds me of the game Polytopia and their relatively recent diplomacy update. Great game to draw inspiration from!
how could they not add in austria instead of scotland when it comes to a diplomatic culture?
Austria-Hungary is already a culture in that era
@@lodestar536 guess i didn’t know that

Anymore TI videos coming? Hope you feel better, and that sucks about your internet 😕

Can’t you just put the envoys (I think it was) on “auto explore”?
@@ruud9761 Pretty sure that would have them run around exploring the map. You want them sitting in opposing cities waiting for leverage to spawn.

It still seems to be missing something for me,I can’t get into it like Civ games.
is the balance/snowballing better? that along with the bugs was the main reason I quit soon after launch but I stopped following it since.
Secondly would you ever do a day one civ 6 game as a look how far it's come thing
Shoutout both human kind and civ both spitting on console owners
How's the AI and the difficulty balance? Any better than Civ's?

can you continue your terra invicta series please
Did u give up on the terra invicta series?
I'm not sure they've given the spy a large enough hat :P

Does anyone know Potato's official AI persona oh Humankind?
What is dead may never die
Still just better to let independent people build a city with districts then conquer it before they fall.
I gave you one leverage, don't spend it all at once.
And yet they haven't brought it to console still.
Leverage
When is the expansion where they make a nice UI and make the game fun to play coming out?

This vid - promo was just terrible. Next time not just read what they give to you, please.
Fist ha has I am the boss now
Huh weird I feel like I’ve seen this human kind expansion before maybe it was called rise and fall 🤔

If you don't talk about the NUMEROUS performance issues this absolutely awful "update" has caused you are being dishonest.
I didn't experience any performance issues
The only thing for me is game loads for few minutes when starting new play through. Besides that it’s smooth.

So we got one failed terra run and an aborted reboot? Whelp, I was only here for the terra so I am out. I wish you nothing but success.
It'll be back, theres just way too much content to make my brother
