  • The NAD C 658 can be the streaming heart of a multi-room music system, but it also offers connections to your digital and analog audio audio gear, making it an excellent preamp. No matter the source, its 24-bit DAC renders your music in amazing detail.
    NAD C 658: www.crutchfiel...
    No matter how you like to stream, the C 658 is ready. Once you connect it to your Wi-Fi network, you can play music from Spotify, TIDAL, Qobuz, along with internet radio from iHeartRadio or TuneIn radio. Plus it has Bluetooth for even more convenience, and it's two-way Bluetooth, meaning you can send the signal to a pair of headphones or a speaker within range.
    BluOS software lets you create a multi-room music system, and features a very flexible app that makes it simple to control playback and to configure your system. You can create zones, synchronize them, or operate them independently. The app even works on an Apple Watch!
    Think of the NAD C658 as the brains of your home audio system. Like everything NAD does, it's built to last and to sound great.

    I have this and love it, but make sure you turn Analog Bypass on, or your Phono stage will sould like a CD that has errors.

    I am looking to find a streamer that also play video music well (I have Hifi Rose RS250 - great sound but video files freeze!). Any help and suggestions is appreciated .

      As of right now, the Hifi Rose RS250 is going to be the main choice for a music streamer that also provides video streaming. What type of files are you streaming?

    I’m surprised it seems to have no digital out if I want to use a different DAC.

      Same here. Seems odd that you can't run a separate DAC. Either it is an oversight or maybe something related to the Dirac aspect?

    greate and useful review! i have a question: if you go to time 2:46 of this video review, on the smartphone with BluOS app you will see all inputs listed, but there is no USB input listed, why? please answer, it is very important to me. on original remote control SR9, USB is no 8. thank you in advance!

      The unit must complete the indexing of the USB drive before the USB option shows in the menu. If nothing is plugged into the USB port or the indexing is not complete, then USB will not show in the input list within the BluOS app

      You're welcome, Marco. Yes. The NAD C 658 offers two analog line-level inputs consisting of stereo RCA jacks.

    looking for a PreAmp/DAC for Adam Audio A4v monitors and this fits the bill! Any advice on that setup?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  2 года назад

      We do not have any experience with Adam Audio gear to know what brands may compliment their sound the best. We do know that those speakers are supposed to have RCA as well as XLR inputs which both can work with this NAD streamer/preamp. They do seem like a good match for each other with that XLR support!

    can i connect this device to vintage receiver??

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  10 месяцев назад

      If you have a free RCA analog input, you can connect! You will also need to link the NAD C658 to your home's Wi-fi or ethernet network.

    Can the internal pre-amp be bypassed? So as to feed my own separate pre-amp? Using the balanced outputs going in my balanced pre-amp.

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  2 года назад

      It is possible to put this unit into a fixed output level allowing it to be connected to pre-amp processor.

      I tried putting it in fixed mode, but it sets it own level to 0db, and then causes some type of very noticeable distortion like sound. So I’ve set it to 20db in variable mode and sounds fine. I’ve only had it a few days but I’m very impressed with the unit.

    Hi - would you recommend for pairing with KEF R3s? Thanks

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  2 года назад

      The NAD C 658 would be a great network streamer for those KEFs! Keep in mind the NAD C 658 doesn't have a built in amplifier and those KEF R3s will need 15-180 watts at 8 ohms.
