Tbf to the Czechs they had the best functioning offense in the tournament by far. Watching these highlights compared to Portugal, they were actually getting attempts off in the box while the latter had Greece under pressure much of the game but was taking mostly long shots.
I know that we didnt play the most exciting football etc,but i remember it was a month or so before the final round of 2004 EURO starts , i was walking down a street and i caught a glimpse of a TV showing some highlights from qualifiers and there was a highlight of a team with white shirts exchanging passes and then doing some dribbling and scoring a really nice goal against Spain. And i remember it like it was yesterday. I was thinking to myself "Damn that team looks so good, Is that France or something?" then the camera zooms in and it is a close up of the scorer ,Stelios Giannakopoulos. Couldn't believe it that Greece could deliver such quality football. It was unlike everything i ve ever seen from our national team. I get it that to most it looked borign etc etc. But it was herculian leap from what i thought it was our standards.

I remember watching this when I was a kid. Fantastic match. Everyone here is making comments about Czech attacking style of playing, but look at that coordinated Greek defense. This shows that defense is, maybe, even more important than attack in order to win trophies. Defense is also much more harder to play and more exhausting than attack. I remember how, at that time, analysts did not like Greece style of playing, they considered them the most boring football team of Euro 2004. I do admit that Greece also had some luck, but it's discipline, teamwork and determination that got them the trophy. You can't win France (2000 Euro winners), 2 times Portugal, Czech Republic and get a draw with Spain simply because of luck. This is what makes a football so interesting.

Czech team was scary. Even when they were 2-0 down against Holland, you knew they will win, and they did. Same with Germany in the last match of group stages, they didn’t needed to win, and Germany had the lead, but Czech said, no, we will win and they scored twice and knocked Germany out!😄 They won all their group games like this. Shame they didn’t won that tournament!
In my opinion Czech Rep. had the best team in Euro 2004, full of talent and experience.But the high morale of the Greek players and the favor of luck gave the qualification to Greece.
