- "STAND A-- oof!"
All credit for this vid goes to redscab.co.uk. I hope they don't mind me putting it up here. There aren't many Adam Ant videos on this site, and I want to make it easier for fans to scourge through vids. I had a hard time, in the beginning at least! Видеоклипы
"I like when he jumps off the tree branch and you hear: 'STAND A-- oof!'" That comment made me laugh so hard, I nearly wet myself! Thanks for posting!!
"stand a-oOOf" lol my favourite part
jesus christ I wrote this 4 years ago..
"Reviewability where you'd like to watch it over and over"? I'd say you hit the nail right on the head! Still watching after 35+ years! ❤️
"STAND AN... oof!!" LOLAGE!!!! CRACKS ME UP EVRY TIME!!!
It's so wonderful how Adam has managed to pick himself up and dust himself off, despite his mental health being delicate. He's such an inspiration. He broke the mould when he arrived into this world, his calibre setting him leaps ahead of his generation. I'm sure he doesn't really see his bipolar as much of a problem as other's might, because it has helped his artistic flair. I myself have taken lithium, and anti-psychotics for 15 years, which has caused more problems than the illness itself.
Stand and deliver! Worth the effort indeed, as it's an iconic video!
I love it! I love Adam. always have. :)
And the Stand and Deliver video was and is still viewable, and something I could watch over and over again. er..I have.
I love that STAND AND D-OOF! bit haha
Adam is brilliant! I've been a fan since the early 80's and got to see him on his Goody Two Shoes and Strip tours. Really an amazing showman!
Thanks for sharing this. Was a huge fan of Adam and the Ants in the '80s and still am today. Have all my original LPs and am starting to transfer those that were never on CD to CD. This was one of the top videos made in the 80s.
Nice to see this! STAND AND DELIVER. I like the line " try to use a mirror/ not a bullet or a knife". Adam is ahead of his time here.
still good after 43 years
I loved it then, and love it now. Ah, I long for the days when videos told a story ;)
i like the face he makes right after he says "that's what mike and I decided we were going to make."
Thank you, Lovejulieandrews. He is a lovely lovely man. I like that he is so public with his mental illness. He still has an amazing voice. I would choose to talk to him out of any celebrity ever. He is very interesting and seems really funny. Thank you, Adam for all the music.
His voice :)
Such a brilliant soul! Thank you for sharing this short and very sweet video of *Adam Ant* - teehee...His videos always make me smile :) ♥
gorgeous man
He is a gorgeous man.
mike mansfield said it all, I recorded a vh-1 show hosted by clare grogan about 11 years ago and someone requested this vid and i just used to rewind it and watch it over and over and over again. Been hooked on the guy ever since.
mtv was so cool in its infancy
Great video, thanks for the upload.
Superb band........
I'm glad he didn't hurt himself badly when he fell awkwardly from the tree branch.
1. I want to sleep with this guy.
2. The bastards who are making it difficult to put copyrighted material on RUclips are missing the point. I had forgotten about Adam Ant until I stumbled upon these "pirated" pieces. I am planning now to buy some of his DVDs. So by cutting off access, or confining it to their own company websites, they are harming sales, not protecting them.
3. Thank you for posting this.
4. I understand now why they don't show him landing when he jumped out of that tree!
He WAS the 80's!
This video totally made my day! :)
It is quite possible that Adam Ant as the "Dandy Highwayman" influenced the Jack Sparrow character played by Johnny Depp in the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean". Many other RUclipsrs agree with this theory.
he got the name from tv prog, adam adamant lives, 1965/66, abt 19th century dandy in 60s swinging london.
I like how he explains the idea of a music video. This was filmed in March of 1981, months before MTV began in August 1981. Pretty visionary of them to do this, actually. Another artist who was early with the music video was David Bowie, who made Ashes to Ashes in 1980. I wish more artists were as creative as these early video pioneers.
Finally my computer let me watch the bloody thing! love this video soo much!:)
He is so beautiful
Trust me, in the early days of video this was by far a masterpiece. Most videos were just artists lip synching their songs, Adam Ant and Duran Duran were really pushing the envelope with their ''concept'' videos.
Agreed, Its Deffo one of the best
he got his name from adam (as in the first man) and ant because they will be inharmed if struck by radioactivity (i got that from the man himself)
@peaceandlies
He was ahead of his time; many guys since have worn makeup and lip gloss, although sometimes against their will but these days it is not uncommon for guys to look after their skin and presentation.
well the name came from other things as well but ive defo heard him being a fan of adam adamant lives when he was a kid.
Fascinating. Thanks for posting and sharing this! Looks like it was a BBC news feature right?
he is so cool
The real Captain Sparrow!!! Adam Ant rocks!!
it was good of the ants to rescue adam from the hangmans noose at the end, and then they are all boucing around as they run off..fwaa fwaa quadiddley fwaa fwaa quadiddley fwaa fwwa...ooooooooo ooooooooooaaaaaahhh...staaand and deliverrrr..
Ne s'est il pas inspiré d'un sketch (hilarant) des monthy python sur des
bandits de grands chemins de cette époque "the luppins or your life"
he did something complete different at that time!
14 grand was a lot of cash back then. adam ruled the early 80's
Oh and I think Stand and Deliver was probably one of the best music videos ever made.... whether you think it looks cheap or not!
Actually, I think you'll find that MOST promo videos were filmed straight on to tape at the time! One of the first pioneers of using film and cropping the screen to make it look like cinema scope was Ultravox and their video for "Vienna"! (which also happened to be 1981). Before you try to be a smartarse about something, make sure you know what you're talking about first!
@peaceandlies
No probs, I wasn't getting on my high horse or anything just throwing in my thoughts for what they are worth. :-D
damn. i'd be straight for him.
you know, it astounds me that so many ppl think they know about Adam/Stuart and his mental health. most of it is from the press, and we all know what he thinks of the press right? :) but there was a good show here in England recently with Marco talking about it...and I'd trust what he says more..though the tv ppl can still edit it at will. :S
cool
adam ants back in 1981.
Agreed. 'Nuff said. :)
oh adam y couldnt u be like this now??
this music was very undergrround in canada at the time it came out...ie.// word of mouth popularity..
Don't knock the lip gloss. It makes him look like he just got done eating... a glazed donut, if you're picking up what I'm putting down.
@junkie4vids I think Keith Richards also influenced Sparrow too..........My dad said him and keith have similar hair............
Poor Adam glad he didnt hurt himself
love him
jeez when did stand and deliver actually come out? i know i had a damn big crush on him even way back then! glad it was on him and not jason donovan or ronan keating or such!
No he didnt, it was the joining of 2things, The 1st man who was Adam, and a strong, hard working Insect that 2b honest rhymed with Adam, Nothin' 2do with the charecter Adam Adamant mate, sorry......
Visually interpret the lyrics?
Howabout dressing up like a Highwayman that shouts "Stand and Deliver"?
Oh, you already thought of that...
@junkie4vids Ahhhhhhhhhh, what a sandwich that would make....lol
His bipolar was not caused by drugs.
I've always wanted to know who is that fine looking "dark haired" woman at the begining of this music video?
TheXtro101 she was Adams girlfriend -- lucky girl , he is stunning!!
TheXtro101 she's also in the antmusic video
Amanda Donahoe
14,000 pounds. Sorry Mr Jackson, but i think this beats your multi million dollar efforts.
