  • "STAND A-- oof!"
    All credit for this vid goes to redscab.co.uk. I hope they don't mind me putting it up here. There aren't many Adam Ant videos on this site, and I want to make it easier for fans to scourge through vids. I had a hard time, in the beginning at least!

    It's so wonderful how Adam has managed to pick himself up and dust himself off, despite his mental health being delicate. He's such an inspiration. He broke the mould when he arrived into this world, his calibre setting him leaps ahead of his generation. I'm sure he doesn't really see his bipolar as much of a problem as other's might, because it has helped his artistic flair. I myself have taken lithium, and anti-psychotics for 15 years,which has caused more problems than the illness itself.

    Adam is brilliant! I've been a fan since the early 80's and got to see him on his Goody Two Shoes and Strip tours. Really an amazing showman!

    Thanks for sharing this. Was a huge fan of Adam and the Ants in the '80s and still am today. Have all my original LPs and am starting to transfer those that were never on CD to CD. This was one of the top videos made in the 80s.

    Thank you, Lovejulieandrews. He is a lovely lovely man. I like that he is so public with his mental illness. He still has an amazing voice. I would choose to talk to him out of any celebrity ever. He is very interesting and seems really funny. Thank you, Adam for all the music.

    1. I want to sleep with this guy.
    2. The bastards who are making it difficult to put copyrighted material on RUclips are missing the point. I had forgotten about Adam Ant until I stumbled upon these "pirated" pieces. I am planning now to buy some of his DVDs. So by cutting off access, or confining it to their own company websites, they are harming sales, not protecting them.
    3. Thank you for posting this.
    4. I understand now why they don't show him landing when he jumped out of that tree!

    It is quite possible that Adam Ant as the "Dandy Highwayman" influenced the Jack Sparrow character played by Johnny Depp in the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean". Many other RUclipsrs agree with this theory.

    I like how he explains the idea of a music video. This was filmed in March of 1981, months before MTV began in August 1981. Pretty visionary of them to do this, actually. Another artist who was early with the music video was David Bowie, who made Ashes to Ashes in 1980. I wish more artists were as creative as these early video pioneers.

    Trust me, in the early days of video this was by far a masterpiece. Most videos were just artists lip synching their songs, Adam Ant and Duran Duran were really pushing the envelope with their ''concept'' videos.

    Oh and I think Stand and Deliver was probably one of the best music videos ever made.... whether you think it looks cheap or not!

  • @leggylady
    @leggylady 16 лет назад

    Actually, I think you'll find that MOST promo videos were filmed straight on to tape at the time! One of the first pioneers of using film and cropping the screen to make it look like cinema scope was Ultravox and their video for "Vienna"! (which also happened to be 1981). Before you try to be a smartarse about something, make sure you know what you're talking about first!

    you know, it astounds me that so many ppl think they know about Adam/Stuart and his mental health. most of it is from the press, and we all know what he thinks of the press right? :) but there was a good show here in England recently with Marco talking about it...and I'd trust what he says more..though the tv ppl can still edit it at will. :S
