Social media went from being an awesome tool to keep in touch with friends that may have slipped out of your orbit to an utterly toxic mess full of advertising, politics and hate, Twitter now being the absolute worst of all. I try and limit my time on any of it but in reality I should probably delete the lot. It is a net negative on society in my opinion. Had Facebook remained what it was in 2008(ish) this would not be the case I don't think but it all boils down to money of course!
Well said. I can’t disagree with any of that. It’s been over a week since I stopped doom scrolling and I have to say I feel much better already. Not missing any of the platforms as much as I thought I would, even Instagram 😀👍🏻
I'm a Motability customer and unfortunately I don't have the facility to charge at home. I'm due to change my bmw shortly and would like to try an ev. Perhaps the Ariya. But as I'd have to use local public charging I'm unsure. So, it might have to be a full hybrid or plug in hybrid. I have driven a full hybrid in ev mode. Loved it. ❤ I think I'd love an ev. Yes, it's more expensive using a charging station, but even if the cost is comparable to petrol. The ev driving experience is light years ahead of an ice car.
Thanks for your feedback. Everyone's experiences will be different - we all have things that are specific to us (our super powers!). I think the design of some of the public charging facilities could be better, especially for those with accessibility needs. I hope that situation continues to improve. With the crisis in the Middle East and the potential impact on fuel prices that brings I'm pleased I have an EV and not a petrol/hybrid/plug-in hybrid, however even then the cost of electricity as things currently stand could be impacted. That said, I very much prefer to not be using volatile fossil fuels in the world the way it is. Whatever you decide, I wish you every success with it. Best wishes, Andy.

I found myself “doom scrolling” especially on Threads and it was starting to become a habit - one I’m happy to break. After a week off social I’m detoxing nicely! So pleased that the Ariya is going well. I’ve filmed another in-depth video about mine but I’m not completely happy with the edit so not sure when it’ll come out. Thanks for watching!

I think the interaction with people that do show signs of listening and understanding new perspectives is important since most of the interaction would be contained in bubbles more or less. Someone hearing about a swede getting their mind blown how anyone in the UK (where climate is mild) would be afraid of heat pumps not working in the cold. It’s just completely ridiculous to me knowing that heat-pumps are pretty much in every home here in Sweden. Working all year around. Getting Winters normally below -20. I think you should talk more about it actually. We don’t use natural gas here for housing or even cooking. It’s very rare. *no pun intended*.

About a decade ago a friend of mine whom I considered to be quite rational posted to faceache that they had got home after a fraught commute and had made a lovely cup of tea. At this point I knew that faceache and social media was not for me.
A wise decision by the sounds of it. There’s so much of that kind of nonsense everywhere on social and I even find myself doing it! I’ve only been off social for a week but already feel much better. Time will tell if that lasts. Despite me saying I’d go back to Instagram, if I carry on feeling this good about not being on any platform it might become a permanent fixture…
RUclips is my only "social media" outlet since 2016. I am also a member of just one online forum. It's great meeting with friends over a coffee or a beer and having things to talk about. My advice would be to avoid social media. It is a mind altering drug called MDA: manipulative, destructive and addictive.

Question for you Andy>>> As a fellow Ariya owner ,and subscriber, I was wondering about your 12 volt battery giving you grief awhile ago. Did you find out what caused this? Thx .
I'm feeling much more relaxed since leaving social media, although I've had a week off since then too so that might have something to do with it?! I never got to the bottom of the non-starting issue, although I'm as sure as I can be that it must've been the 12 volt battery. It seems odd that the car fixed itself overnight, though, and I did absolutely nothing to fix it... very odd!!!

Tell us why musk is behaving this way Andy, I'm not going to read the biography of his - loath the guy at this point. Feel betrayed for trusting him the first place, so not really in the mood for supporting anything with his name on it, even if it's a book.
I understand how you feel. I feel much the same, but felt it would be interesting to read the biography to try to understand why he is the way he is. In a paragrah I can't put across what I think I discovered by reading the book - it's far too complex and nuanced to even attempt that. Musk himself will get nothing from anyone reading the biography. The autor and publisher will, but not him.

You're best off not being on tiktok. There's a lot of hate for EVs based on the usual misinformation.
