I was very privileged to watch a young "Los" play for Waiopehu College alongside the likes of Nopera Stewart, Carl Houston, Nathan Picchi and captained by Nathan Guy (ex National Politician)....he had all the silky and outrageous skills back then....even possessed the uncanny knack of missing the easy goal kicks and nailing them from the sideline. Massive credit to Graeme and Wiki. Older brother Fabian was a typical Spencer ala Ian, Graeme and David....hard as nails, take no prisoners or backwards step, forwards. Carlos....you're a gem.
When he was in South Africa coaching at the Lions, I saw him playing touch. The way he moved and put people into space. Was nuts. Was a privilege to watch him play growing up.
Thanks you for this video! Spencer was one of my favorite players. It's nice to know I'm not alone in my admiration of his playing. He was magic on the pitch.
All Hail King Carlos! When I got to meet the Classic All Blacks in Tokyo a few years ago, the only signature I wanted was this guy's. And yeah, that last minute try against Canterbury - both an individual try and a team try, is the greatest try ever in any domestic rugby game. Canterbury may have it over Auckland in recent years, but we'll always have that Carlos try...
Two things he did we adopted into our U18s squad were chip kicking back inside (think he did that for Tuitupou) and faking the 22m drop out, 'forward passing' the ball to a person 10m away who nudges it over. Such a delight to watch the Blues in this era!
Hated his guts as a Canes fan as he was that good and to find out later he’s from Levin, he should’ve been playing for us! Didn’t eat Toffee Pops for years
The try at 3:28 had so much behind it. 1. Carlos was hated in Canterbury 2. That try was audacious, Canterbury needed the bonus point if they lost within seven points 3. Time was up and Canterbury needed Carlos to miss the conversion 4. Carlos strutted with his team to the corner before placing the ball down making the kick that much more difficult 5. Carlos slots the kick, wins the game leaving no bonus point for the opposition 6. Flips salty fans off as they booed him for being the epitome of a tall poppy in their eyes! Gold🤌🏼
When Carlos took that try to the corner, most people would have called that cocky/cheeky arrogance but even at College level.....and I'm talking 13, 14, 15 years old+ he had a propensity to miss the goal kicks handy to the posts (causing heaps of angst) and absolutely nailing them from the sideline.
I remember that try where he walked all the way into the corner to give himself a difficult kick - he slotted it effortlessly. What a showman.
Then gives the finger to the people 😂 legend
Yeah and he flipped the bird to the Canterbury crowd 😂😂😂
@@siaf9281 Yeah, I remember now that you mention it. The man was all class.
They always miss that part in the highlights.
Wow, one tends to forget quickly how super brilliant Carlos was👊🔥‼️
King Los indeed, what a player, so much magic on the field, a lot of character too, one of my favorite !!!!
All hail the King 👑

My alltime ABs dream team First Five-Eighth 👑 better than Carter imo
I remember him being better than this video... maybe I was spoiled by DC
No tackles?🤣
