Mysterious owl watches with large eyes

While out searching for Cinnabar Moths, I instead came upon a Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus) awake and alert in the early morning.

Thanks! Yep, he didn't stick around long. A moment after this I looked at the camera, and a second later when I looked back he was gone. All without a sound. Very mysterious.
