As a heatwave raged across the interior this week (temperatures of 104°F/40°C), I escaped to the coast where it was a cool and breezy 60°F/15°C and found this large pack of Common Murres (Uria aalge) basking, preening, and fighting on the rocks. #birdwatching #birds #wildlife

H-he's fast!

Today a rare rubber boa (Charina bottae) crosses my path. I'd have liked to get better footage but he was laying in the middle of a heavily trafficked trail so I had to be quick. I moved him to safety before more people and dogs came.
