the pain in this mans eyes, in his voice.. takes a special kind of strength to carry on, gary carries that flag with pride and hurt, but that was skynyrd, pride, pain, hurt, fun, joy, life ... what a band..
I am glad you guys are still out there. There's more good news too. Dickey, Jaimoe, Jack Pearson, Dickey's son Duane, Berry Oakley's son, Berry Jr., Mark Quinones next year 2023 are supposed to tour as Allman Family Revival. Dickey is finally ready to play again. You guys are playin' they will be playin' . Life gets interrupted sometimes but then you get back to where you belong.
Never Got to See Gary Live but for some reason this entire year so far I kept getting Skynyrd songs Stuck in my head on repeat. Day and night I think the universe was trying to Tell me What was about to Come .After Gary Died those Song Stopped Repeating in My Head. .
Had dreams of full concerts with him last year too, I was lucky enough to see him for his last California performance in end of 2019, I could see the deterioration of his health beginning right there, amazing musician he is missed dearly R.I.P
God Bless Gary Rossington and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Sure the band might not even be close today to what it was when we all came to love and know them, but you got to give this old southern dog a bone. He’s seen it all and is still breathing to tell the stories and keep living the dream they all envisioned long ago. When you hear him talk it’s almost like your sitting there with a grandparent or something. Thank god for people like this that are still alive today, there won’t be people like him around forever. Cherish them while we still have them. This man is REAL.
I've always loved all the Lynyrd Skynyrd music, but didn't know the history until recently. After hearing all the stories and interviews, i feel like I knew all these guys and i just love to hear Gary talk. He seems just like someone ive known my whole life. I would love the opportunity to sit and listen to some of his stories.
I'll be 64 this September and pretty much have been a Lynyrd Skynyrd fan ever since I heard Sweet Home Alabama on AM radio back in the early 70s. And then car mechanics truck and I ended up being stationed in Jacksonville Florida while I was in the Navy during the 80's and ran into those guys all different times at all different places! Also including guys from Molly Hatchet & .38 Special too!
Your guitar playing on songs like Cry for the Bad Man and Gimmie Back my Bullets and Tuesday and on and on. makes me feel awesome because you are awesome! Thank you Gary we love you I love and the sounds and songs from Jacksonville.
Thanks for taking the time and effort to turn around in your chair at LJ’s Funeral Service and introducing yourself and shaking my hand.I will never forget it or Dales laugh at both of us. Rest In Peace.👍🎙🙏
For Lynyrd Skynyrd to come together in the way they did is an amazing story in itself. Many come from the same family. Or individual's whom are brought up in families who are tied to the industry in one form or another. They are also brought up in church singing. Or performing at a very young age. These guy's from the same community met at the local ballpark we all grew up around in our communities in the 60's and 70's. To put this together in Jacksonville and be from the same neighborhood. Same school. Is highly unlikely in any profession. To make it to the heights and success that they experienced is a great story. Wish they ALL could have made it the entire ride. Regardless they are ALL part of the legacy that will endure the test of time!! My high school year's were from 75-79 in southeast Louisiana. 70 miles from Baton Rouge. We were going to that concert at Tiger stadium. Thanks for continuing the great music, Skynyrd family. To all, thanks for making us smile. R.I.P.
what a wonderful, heart warming interview... Gary is the salt of the earth... God bless him. Tom Wills did an excellent job... so patient and listened well.
My friend danny moss was also at that last concert in Greenville..he somehow wrestled the Confederate flag from another guy from powells piano and still has it under glass.
I wish somebody could get this message to Gary: Life is short. I think a lot of us fans would like to see you and Artimus Pyle make peace. God forgives us of all our wrongs. Don't look at the past or who did what. In the long run, it just doesn't matter. You all, the old-time Skynrd, has a special magic and I think for that reason alone, it would be beautiful for you both to think only of now and the future, and hug each other on stage. To even do a song together would be icing on the cake. But, you should be brothers again. Doesn't mean you gotta hang out all the time, just at peace with each other. If for no other reason, do it for the fans.
God bless you too brother Gary. You are the greatest ever! Thanks for sharing your precious memories. I pray you are reunited with your LS brothers and God will allow you a jam in Heaven. I would love to somehow be a part of the reunion with God's blessing. As a loving fan from Jackson Lake, Jackson, Georgia. Good health ~ kimie
What a great interview. I really respect the fact that he wasn't bashing the rest of the band like some of the other interviews I've heard. Gary is a real class act.
My husband and I are big fans of Lynard Skynard, and my husband had been stationed in Jacksonville, Fl. in the Navy. He took me to the original burial site in 1983. The feeling and the vibe was just amazing. There was so much energy there it gave me goosebumps. I was just frozen for a bit, letting that all sink in. I can't understand the insanity of whoever decimated those graves. Just makes me sick, it was a very almost sacred place to be.
Tom thank you for interview. I've watched you all my life growing up. I'm originally from Jacksonville FL. Love all LS and Gary is an amazing guitarist
“The MAIN THING, was our hearts were broken, ‘cause we lost our best friends and our BAND…and the guys we grew up with…” @4:30 The pain of the loss of his friends, was much worse than his broken bones!! Rest In Peace now Gary…
It is my sincerest and fondest hope and I'm sure members of the band in the family members will probably agree that if anybody is to do a post interview with the rest of the band or the family members at the Garry's passing it is without a doubt Tom Wills. I sincerely hope
God bess you, man.....now you can rest in peace in paradise with all your band brothers......ronnie, leon, bill, allen, bob, ed, steve, larry..........it's a long list....
I imagine when you are broken and put back together like he has been, that there is always pain. Maybe he self-medicates a bit. I like how he brushes that off. Focuses on the positive. Amazing dude. Gimme a T for Texas
Ifi could say any thing to Gary Rossington it would be you are Lynyrd Skynyrd you all made it there still with you my friend i will never for get the first time i Hurd you guys. were & still are the best band that iv ever hurd love you guys.. i have a strat my self i try to play some of your stuf but iv never been that good so glad to see this interview with you we Love You guys realy do no one can come close to the lynyrd Skynyrd band
What UNBELIEVABLE humility & grace! This isn’t some high-profile interviewer from some high-profile network. Gary doesn’t have to be doing this, and it seems like he physically struggles to do so. But man, he just respects there moment. It’s as if he literally has NO EGO. Lord, if I had accomplished & experienced 1/100th of what he has, I wouldn’t be able to fit my head through the door. Lol
Should go watch the interview with gene in the cemetery. As any band there was a dark side to many things. Gene and Gary probably didn’t care much for each other after events that took place after the crash announced In that interview. Ronnie didn’t trust Gary and Gary probably had some animosity to Ronnie as when Ronnie was drunk him and Gary got into many fist fights. Ronnie on a drunkard night also cut up Gary’s hands and said he was going to make it to where he could never play guitar again. As well Ronnie told Gary to fly home the next day with no apology for that. That probably built up a lot of tension at the moment for the things that happened in the future. God bless their music though and I hope they can finally figure out everything now together in the afterlife. RIP to these legends.
Hope to see them again before they retire. I had a great time seeing their songs performed w the new band (excluding Gary) beautifully w the new band granted got too drunk and forgot some parts of that show. Gary is an absolute legend would love to meet him, shake his hand and thank him for being a simple man that shreds and carries on a legacy.
I can't believe how all these guys hated each other especially after what they had went through you would think they would have a little bit of Jesus and forgiveness in there it's a shame when so many people love them I mean it ain't like God didn't bless them all their life, it's bad when people can't take a look at their own self, nobody will never really know the truth about what happened on that airplane, no one will never really know about their legal matters, no one would really know if Ronnie was going to divorce his wife, lies lies lies
Thank you Gary for keeping it alive. You will be missed.
Love this man. He will be greatly missed. His music will live forever.
The riffs that came out of this man..wow. True Legend.
RIGHT ! dude sure could make his Les Paul tell the story !
RIP Gary they'll be proud you carried it on and solidified the legend
the pain in this mans eyes, in his voice.. takes a special kind of strength to carry on, gary carries that flag with pride and hurt, but that was skynyrd, pride, pain, hurt, fun, joy, life ... what a band..
Tom Wills is a class act and had always treated the legacy of the band with respect.
Absolutely
The man is a LEGEND! Deservedly so! One of the very best ever.
Rest in peace Gary ,
Go see your old band mates and play your music for eternity
I sure hope they are playing in heaven

Amen. He was there the day after
Your guitar playing on songs like Cry for the Bad Man and Gimmie Back my Bullets and Tuesday and on and on. makes me feel awesome because you are awesome! Thank you Gary we love you I love and the sounds and songs from Jacksonville.
I was lucky enough to see Lynard Skynard perform with Gary in Roseburg Oregon in 2015. Still the best concert I will ever see. RIP Gary 🙏
Thanks for taking the time and effort to turn around in your chair at LJ’s Funeral Service and introducing yourself and shaking my hand.I will never forget it or Dales laugh at both of us. Rest In Peace.👍🎙🙏
Always a gentleman. Rest in peace Gary thank you for such great music. You will be missed but not forgotten. 🙏🕊❤

Gary, you are one tough classy dude. I hope you're around forever. You have given us so much

Gotta love him. Tough SOB. Can't just be the money. He's gotta play.
what a wonderful, heart warming interview... Gary is the salt of the earth... God bless him. Tom Wills did an excellent job... so patient and listened well.
You're the coolest guy and guitarist ever Gary. I can spend hours on end watching you play and listening to your interviews!!!
Gary is THE UNDERTAKER OF ROCK
Miss you man. Thanks for the music and the memories. Y'all were and remain the best of the best!🎸🙏

Greenville,S.C.

Simple kind of man 💜
i would pay for audio or footage of that night
My friend danny moss was also at that last concert in Greenville..he somehow wrestled the Confederate flag from another guy from powells piano and still has it under glass.
Nobody could touch the 1976-1977 line up R.I.P.💀 Tom is a legend also, with all the coverage over the years
I wish somebody could get this message to Gary: Life is short. I think a lot of us fans would like to see you and Artimus Pyle make peace. God forgives us of all our wrongs. Gary must've been a really cool grandparent! Rest in peace, Mr. Rossington!

Stellar fantastic music

At 9:09, he loves his fishing, like Ronnie and most from that area at that time.
why didnt he mention gene odem in the crash

His Guardian Angel removed that door because God had a plan for his life
Read what Gary says at about 4;51 if im correct about the plane door being removed from him.
Gary Rossington medicated or been drinking ? or is he sober ?
Hope to see them again before they retire. I had a great time seeing their songs performed w the new band (excluding Gary) beautifully w the new band granted got too drunk and forgot some parts of that show. Gary is an absolute legend would love to meet him, shake his hand and thank him for being a simple man that shreds and carries on a legacy.
You got dat right 👍..
I took too much LSD at concerts in the early 1970s', remember having awesome experiences but can't remember anything!
Gary runs the company. They had to put it back together because they were financially low and some lost everything to IRS problems.
Thinking of others is a thing as a rock star. Lots of people eat off what you provide. Not every star embraces that.
@@jfayiii He's not supporting freeloaders. I am referring to former members and employees of LS Company. Putting them back to work.
