      Yes, and in addition to that, Stevie DID give Jeff Superstition. The evidence of this is on record as Beck Bogert and Appice recorded and released it before Stevie did his, so that contradicts this guy's account.

    • @MrSteviethegreat
      @MrSteviethegreat 4 месяца назад +6

      Actually, I think it’s a mix of both. Stevie had already written this song. He walked into the studio heard Jeff Beck playing the drums and started playing with. He had already written over Jeff becks drums. After they jammed out, Stevie told him that he had written the song for him. And he recorded it. From what I understand Barry Gordy was like hell no I’m not letting this get released before you release your version of it. That’s the story that I heard.

      That’s inaccurate:
      Stevie released it in October of 1972, and Jeff released it in January of 1973.
      Moreover, Beck was upset because Stevie released it before him.
      In addition, as Stevie said after Jeff’s passing: Superstition was already in the can when Jeff heard it.
      And today, his statement was confirmed by his engineer/producer-Robert.
      Again, Jeff was messing around on drums on the demo version for his band only.
      He did not have any creative input on Stevie’s version of Superstition.

    It doesn’t come as such a big surprise or shocker to me. An interview Billy Joel did in 1993 at the Berklee School of Music in Boston included Billy saying that when he met Stevie, Stevie told Billy, “I write a song a day.” That would encapsulate the huge amount of material that Stevie was recording in the arrow that encompassed *Talking Book.* It is not as though he was hard up for material, and it is good that he was at liberty to give Jeff Beck something

    From his wiki:
    "His works Innervisions (1973), Fulfillingness' First Finale (1974) and Songs in the Key of Life (1976) all won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, making him the only artist to have won the award with three consecutive album releases."

    Same as Cat Stevens and his song Wild World. He thought it was too pop and didn’t want to put it out. Then he produced a reggae version for Jimmy Cliff and put that out. But his record company didn’t allow it to be released in the US (only UK and Europe as a single I believe) because they wanted to put Cats version out in the US. In the end it’s his most recognisable song along with Father and Son

    These old stories are not only great but also important. Today's music is quite literally missing input from guys like yourself and your numerous guests. I'd so checked out on the music scene, that I hadn't listened to any Bruno Mars not knowing that he'd been a street performer with Jackie Wilson's son since he was like 5 or something. Today, the other performers criticize him and call him a culture thief but he's busy GETTING EVEN BETTER spending time with Bootsy Collins. Quincy Jones said with "Thriller" you all were there to save the music industry; how much more is your input needed today??? THE INDUSTRY NEEDS YOU GUYS!!!

    Looking for another pure love is a far better song than superstition but for some reason the latter is more popular.
    "Talking Book" is a phenomenal album within itself and i wish that my generation(the 25 to 30 year old crowd) would rediscover it and bring it back into the public's consciousness.
    Hell, "Big Brother" off of "Talking Book" alone was a song that was written about Nixon...but it is 52 years after the fact and it can now sadly be applied to trump too.
