Necropotence is weaker here because you don't want to exile the cards you ditch, and with Yawgmoth you don't need Ad Nauseum because he has a better card to life ratio. It's kind of ironic that 2 of Blacks all stars are actually not amazing in the most Black deck ever, but running Gate to Phyrexia and Phyrexian Tribute pump out a flavor win beyond compare (and are really needed). He's better than Necropotence on a stick; he's a Yawgmoth's Bargain on a stick. He makes a Bargain between 2 creatures and gets the effect, if that's not flavor IDK what is.
This deck tech is pretty sweet and of course it covers the core strategy of Yawgmoth, but some new tools have popped up that can enhance Yawg further: 1. Castle Locthwain- Conditional card draw for 3 with a drawback of sapping you for life equal to your hand size. Good for when you don’t have creatures to sack or cards in hand. 2. Syr Konrad the Grim- Since Yawgmoth is fantastic at putting creatures into the graveyard, Konrad will punish your opponents whenever a creature hits the grave. 3. Tergrid, God of Fright- Used alongside cards like Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos and Butcher of Malakir, you can literally take your opponents creatures and use them against them with Yawgmoth. 4. Bastion of Remembrance- Zulaport Cutthroat and Blood Artist absolutely love this card, adding yet another aristocrat lifeseeper 5. Last but certainly not least, Sheoldred the Apocalypse rewards you when you draw cards and punishes your opponents when they draw. Basically negates Yawgmoth’s life loss when activated and you walk away with 1 life each time.
