Fitting MPCstuff FAT PADS to my SP404sx (full fitting video)

- I was kindly hooked up by MPCSTUFF last week and they sent me over a new set of fat pads to put on my SP404sx! In this video I go through the whole process of replacing them. Hopefully this is useful if you are thinking of doing the same thing to yours. They feel so much nicer than the stock pads already and its amazing to be able to fully use the SX again - its been a long time!

Finally got my fat pads yesterday. I like the feel of these pads compared to the stock pads. I can trigger sounds much better with the new pads. It doesn’t have that click feel.
Nice man! That’s the main reason I like them yeah. The stock buttons are almost like toggles instead of pads. These feel a lot nicer 👍

I bought the same set of black pads (top and bottom). Documented the process on my YT channel as well (if anyone is interested)
It's nice they hooked you up because... them bois ain't cheap. LOL. Worth it though. I think I have the same knobs you do as well except mine are gold.
Nice man yeah I’ve got a load of the gold ones which I’m going to stock in the shop soon as well as silver. Yeah I couldn’t really afford the price at the moment so was really lucky to get the hook up and it will help with the channel a lot!
I remember shooting off an email to MPCstuff to make a pad set for the 555, if we can get enough folks to advocate for it, us 555 users can get a fat pad set too.
Based on these I would be very keen for that although the 555 pads are a lot nicer than the stock sx pads I think. Would be awesome to try them on the 303 as well

Damn I would be so nervous to do this! I can def see the appeal of those new fat pads though. Awesome video! I saw non juror switched his out and remember wishing he had shown the whole process, thank you for sharing it all the steps.
It wasn’t too bad and I think the added pressure of me filming made it a bit more stressful haha. Just glad to have a fully working SX again I basically had to do it really! Thanks for watching man 🙌

Mine lasted three - four years I think man. I used to always play finger drums on exactly the same pads though so that didn’t help!

Yo man Apprently I’ve had that switched off for a while. I just checked and turned it on again and it does look like it blocks it. You could just change the bottom ones if you wanted though I guess :)

Do you recall how the LEDs are connected to the board? I'm trying to figure out if they are servicable or not.

Do these pads feel the same as original pads or are they better/diffrent?
They feel a lot different. They are a lot thicker and don’t feel as clicky as the stock ones

unfortunately not no - the way its put together you have to open up the back, wish it was as easy as popping the top off!
