Not sure, the track does not cross for sure, but perhaps it once did. The turn on the right past the gates is a dirt road that dead ends into what looks like a bridge over the Animas River, so maybe at one time there was a wye or some other offshoot from the main track. It might also have just been side tracks for moving ore from the mines? There's lots of mines up that dirt road where the bridge used to be. That's where I was standing when I took the video of the train coming out of town.
Absolutely one of my most favorite drives on our trip before last. Camped at Lake Molas and it was wonderful other than couldn't get the fire going :P

At 6:35 there are what look like RR crossing gates, but I don't see the DSNGRR track going across the highway. What are those, then?

Are they possibly road closed for snow gates?
