You state you're making brine using 4 gallons of water and you mix 1/2 cup sugar and Kosher salt, along with 1/4 cup of the herbs you mention. However, when you add the water, you added only 1 1/2 gallons instead of 4. Are the quantities you stated for 1 1/2 gallons of brine? Thank you.
Sorry if I misspoke. For each gallon of brine, as a standard rule, use 1/2C Kosher Salt and 1/2C Granulated Sugar. I made a 4G batch here, so I used 2C Salt, 2C Sugar, and 1/4C (4 TBL) of each of the herbs. So for 1G, just 1 TBL of each herb with 1/2C Salt/Sugar. Hope that helps!
