That's a great point. I completely agree, and considering that this is a remake and not a brand new game, having that collaboration with the audience makes a lot of sense. Everyone has had different experiences with the game and different things that they consider important, that bloober, as much as they love the game, may not have thought of otherwise. Even down to the tiniest details, like the car door being open vs closed. I still think they are not showing a ton of their hand, so I don't personally worry that I've been spoiled.
@@smittens888 Yes! I noticed the car door thing too! It's little things like that which show Bloober is determined to listen to reasonable fans. And yeah, I don't feel there's much to spoil. I teach piano for 20 hours a week or so so I work with a lot of kids one on one and as somebody who plays a lot of video games I love to ask them if they play and if so, what they play. It’s astonishing how many of them are really, really into the lore of Five Nights at Freddy’s or similar games and will mention not only that they’re really interested in it because it deals with mature themes, but also that they’ve never played the games, only watched people play them. I really hadn’t considered that point you made about what will happen to the discourse surrounding Silent Hill when this game comes out and potentially big name RUclipsrs start playing it but I think that is a fascinating point and I’m really excited to have young students come in talking about how excited they are about this new-to-them horror IP.
You hit this right on the head, we no longer have patience to just wait and see for ourselves. A lot of people just jump to conclusions and already have their mind made up before they get it in their own hands. I love Silent Hill, I just want to play this classic in a new way and I’m all for it.
HI MUSE! I'm so happy to see you! And as always, as one of the most representative voices of the fandom, you make a lot of sense. Thanks for representing what a lot of us think!
I just wish the only dialogue surrounding this game wasn't a split between people expressing how they don't like what's been revealed and toxically positive weirdos harassing everyone they don't agree with for having a negative opinion. It can't be "some have valid reasons as to why they don't think it looks good," it has to be "Zomg those anti-woke nostalgic haters!!!"
I love how excited you are for another generation to discover Silent Hill. I feel like it would be so easy for someone who is as invested as you are in Silent Hill to gatekeep it and be upset that they'll be bringing their own takes and experiences to the fandom, but you're so wonderfully positive about this remake and what it can do for the franchise as a whole. You're fantastic, and I'm so excited to see your responses when the game finally comes out. Your content is just the best.
This is maybe how konami executives came up with SH book of memories PS Vita : ruclips.net/video/SnNF2Vhu664/видео.html (kill all enemies in 60 seconds type of things...). Someone thought of a SH battle royale I'm sure
Yeah, the story trailer that just got released released so much info about the characters and the narrative, that it would spoil much of what is to come after release. But it at least gave a tinge of hope or reconsideration to some people who were skeptic about the output of this game in the future. It also meant that Bloober Team is really listening to feedback/criticism and making improvements to make it better. Whoever made the story trailer, good for them. Because the previous trailers were not that convincing. There were some who commented that Konami's marketing team did an awful job for the trailers, and Bloober was disappointed at it, because it didn't represent their vision of the game. But now that has been resolved a little bit, I'll wait for the release and see what it actually is. I remember playing this game for the first time back in 2020 and I've gotta say, the soundscape of 1, 2, and 3 is amazing! And the restroom and mirror room sections are probably the scariest encounters I've played among many horror games today. Why does it always have to be the bathrooms? :)
If I were to recommend one video with new footage, it would be the new story trailer as it is a beat-for-beat redoing of the original E3 trailer. But, it's still possibly for the best to just wait and play the game. I have been fairly impressed with that particular trailer, but I am very slightly iffy on the performance for Maria talking to James through the bars. It works fine, but the tone doesn't feel quite right to me; however, it's certainly still valid to alter things. You can also clearly see her eyes which misses the callback to James' darkened sockets in the intro and it feels less creepy as a result. Overall though, I am looking forward to seeing how this all turns out.
I haven't seen ANY videos about Silent Hill 2 the 2nd except for yours and honestly? You've made me more hype and hopeful than any video or gameplay stitch could've. I'm excited hehehe!
Absolutely agreed! I wish they didn’t have to show so much, but they kinda had to after everything that’s happened. Also I love your look! It’s giving Mia from RE Village.
I'm in SH2R lockdown from here on out too. Watched the story trailer, not the extended gameplay. I also want to be surprised. The idea we are so close to Silent Hill being officially alive again. Never thought we'd ever be here again. The story trailer honestly made me cry happy tears.
I never played SH2 back in the day, but your channel is what got me into the lore of the series and made me love it. I am absolutely going to be playing the remake!
This game has had such an uphill battle from the start. Fighting old fans who couldn’t accept change, fake fans hate bandwagoning, and those morons who say it’s woke.
@@dvdantunes A bunch of RUclipsrs have since the reveal of Angela. They claimed she was “uglified” or trans. Same with Maria who’s now more covered up. Complete stupidity.
Your Silent hill f breakdown was amazingly detailed for a short teaser. Can't wait to see future analysis videos! In the meantime, let's finally enjoy the new hype for silent hill 2!
Hi there muse. I'm 20 years old and as a Silent Hill fan that started by playing the HD collection even though it wasnt the best back in 2019 thanks to my preserved Xbox 360, your videos are amazing cause' they showed me how beautiful Silent Hill is. I recently bought my own PS5 and I'm excited for the remake of SH2. I'm a horror fan thanks to Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Love your work. 🦋
If what has been show to us had not been, the changes that we've seen that have turned the fanbase around may not have come to fruition, and we would have received a somewhat lesser experience in the end. It looks like Bloober took a lot of the commentary along the way to heart and made appropriate changes, each time winning over a little bit more of the fanbase as they did. Super excited for the future of SH as well!! Great vid.
I was skeptical and critical but it was out of passion and love for original. Newest previews however, Im very happy that Bloober took the feedback and have shown they care as much as we do. Cant wait for October
I've been telling to everyone who's willing to listen that this SH2 Remake is not even the most important project the Konami is cooking up for the franchise. The Remake is targeted towards the old fans of the series and is meant to be a crowd pleasing and safe project to kick things off for future projects. At worst this was going to be a serviceable game. The issue sadly lies with a fanbase that has been stewing in its own misery for so long that it can no longer approach anything in a sane way.
Love you’re content so much your videos on the people who made the first four games are spectacular I can’t wait to see your thoughts and ruminations on the remake!
Man, just listening to you talk about stories of old and how media are portrayed nowadays makes me appreciate storytelling a bit more. Will you do a trailer and gameplay breakdown of SH2R sometime soon.
I wish they didn’t show the staircase scene!! I agree with ya friend. I’m thinking there is still yet to be potentially unfolded though. There’s still a chance!
Im sure audiovisualy this will be something nice and new but i wonder why people are not worried that cutscenes are not hand-animated. I dont get this "chaining yourslef to the originals execution" which old fans pleased to do (to be fair its kind of justifiable since every piece of information can be somehow related to plot) but i think understanding a material and expanding on it is what makes those remakes worth it. Dead spaces did this -> oryginal had giant spaceship that invoked dread but console watered it down, making that sequential. So in the remake they redesigned locations to be interconnected. This invoked more dread and expanded on the core gameplay loop while keeping old rooms and old scares there, even doing this eerily nostalgic. Hand-animation is what did the prison scene. Not the shadow, not the voice acting but the unnatural way corners of marias lips stretched when saying "im real". And then when touching james to look a second later with her shade, she looks so cinematicly natural that you cant tell those two moments apart.
The very single one thing I don't like about what the game has shown so far is Maria, not her outfit not her face or appearance, but her delivery of line, I don't know if it was the actress or the direction but something went bad
I’m more torn on this being a remake of a game that has little involvement from the original team. Unless I’m wrong in that. I also have sore feelings towards Konami canning all their games for pachinko machines including MGS.
My problem is they are spoiling too much in the trailers because they assume everyone already played it so all the new people getting into it will already know like 90% of the story.
@@adamthompson9785 no it doesn't? I will retract my statement earlier though. It's almost a 1:1 recreation of the original E3 trailer. So I guess it really only spoils as much as the original trailer did.
But do you remember the original trailer from E3 2001? it's litterally a refined clone of that anouncement. And when i say "refined" oh boy... the first was so rough in comparision, and it shows WAAAY more.
42 here. In collsge I played alot of halo. Some DMC, some MGS. But as a young teen I liked RE. So, I got SH2 because it seemed like that. Oh boy. My mind was blown. What was real? What wasn't? What did all that mean? Was Silent Hill just each persons purgatory? What the HELL. We didn't have lore youtube channels to explain it to me. So the mystery amd the questions around the game only made it better to me. 20 some odd years later i finally started watching SH2 content after not touching the game since. Glad to see it hit other people like it hit me. Honestly I think it's better than I even remember. Excuted fir the remake and hopefully it nails that mysteriously beautiful empty feeling the original did. Few books or movies could recreate what SH2 did.
I bought a PS5 last week and the only reason I finally upgraded was for SH2. I totally agree with you that we should wait for the game to come out before deciding if it’s good or not, but I’ve enjoyed the trailers and the recent energy around them. Let’s go!!!
As soon as I heard of a Silent Hill 2 remake I closed myself off of all trailers and gameplay. I went in blindish (played the og) and it was an incredible journey.
If you watched the trailers and the reactions to it more closely, I think you might've reached the same conclusion I reached: it's not the die-hard fans changing their opinion on this game, it's the not-as-skeptical crowd that doesn't care much for the quality or artistic integrity of games and might buy the remake anyways, that are vocally happy that Bloober are competently developing the remake... into a Standard TV Drama simulacrum of the original Silent Hill 2, if the trailers are any indication.
I think people preemptively see something that doesn't work and spin a whole narrative surrounding it. I think Konami is partly to blame for that hard acceptance, but this cultural bubble we currently breathe makes looking objectively at something a hard task sometimes. The game looks effortlessly great despite Bloober team's shortcomings in tech and skill capabilities, but they went above and beyond expectations. I expected the combat and animations to look rough and they look rough, but guess what... they never did combat before. I expected the game to look a bit outdated, and it is in certain aspects, but guess what... it's very stunning to look at. I expected the characters or story to deviate a lot from the original, but guess what... they slightly changed things while still sticking to the original vision. There's nothing here that wasn't expected, except that the game looks and feels like an updated faithful version of the original and I'm okay with that if that's the final product. Only time will tell if we truly got SH2 back.
I was excited about the remake from the beginning despite konami's bad track record. We cant be gatekeepers as fans and be too critical before seeing the final product. Once we gave it a chance and saw the remake was actually a great game, alot of people rechanted and had to admit that bloober team worked hatd and showed a lot of love and dedication to the original game. Its easy to be impaitient but it was worth the wait. I think a lot of the hate came honestly from the P.T. game that got killed before it became reality and lots of fans where still salty about that. Not gonna lie, i was angry too. It looked amazing and the fact that they pulled the plug was a slap in the face but I digress. Sorry for the rant. Hopefully this marks a new beginning for the francise and we will see more great remakes in the future. I would love to see a remake of silent hill 1 with elements of shattered memories added in because i think it had some great elements that where not properly used such as the picture taking to unlock memories. How cool would that be in a modern version of events for Silent Hill one with sheryl having this ability with a old camera aloa fatal frame?
Hill yeah! I preordered the digital deluxe addition, plan to also get a physical copy, and got my Seal of Metatron medallion in the mail from Fanattik yesterday! I am hyped!
I don't think it is fair to put the blame on the people (be patient and open minded). After all, it's both Bloober and Konami who have either made bad games or been bad people. For instance, when Konami allowed Evil Empire to make a Castlevania DLC for Dead Cells, people were not skeptical about the quality of the product. But Bloober hasn't really made good games, and this includes not only mechanics or graphics, it also means story, character development, and an interesting portrait of trauma and other delicate topics. If the SH2 Remake is a shitshow now, it is because both Bloober and Konami, not the fandom.
Great video. I think they had no other choice but to show the game. I think they had to fix some things to bring the game up to snuff. Love the silent hill series and this is a day one purchase for me
The emotions seem wrong with the remake...it could simply be because "I don't like change" but the emotional weight of the dialog just seems to not be there for me. For me, Silent Hill 2 Remake is a hard pass. I will stick with my Day 1 release of the original. [Note: I have no plans on purchasing a PS5.] I also don't like the character models even more.
your videos on silent hill always get me so pumped. and you're right about trying to avoid spoilers for games. i do the same for movies but i never thought to do the same for games. the only thing that makes me feel differently is The Last of Us Part 2 having specific marketing strategies that enhance the gaming experience ~ for me at least. But I think I'll do what you do from now on. Maybe watch one trailer and then close out if it starts to give away too much.
I'm just glad we're getting more Silent Hill. As someone who's played 75% of the originals and some of the western ones, I'm more than happy it's back, with or without Team Silent. I just wished people stop being toxic about the whole situation.
Completely agree with you Muse, and also i had NO idea Slitterhead had a release date, so thankyou. I've had faith in Bloober since day 1, but felt their hand has been forced by Konami when it comes to marketing. I get that fans were hungry for info as i was, but they really fucked up showing early footage and i don't believe Bloober have made alterations due to feedback, i believe they were still cooking a faithful remake of a masterpiece and Konami dropped the ball. I played the first game when i was 10, and nothing has impacted me as much as the Silent Hill franchise has. Im so glad the IP is being reintroduced to a modern audience. I'm really hoping this franchise gets the resurgence it deserves, and by people who genuinely care about it's lore and legacy, not treating it's name like a cash grab... yeah im looking at you Ascension 👀 You rock Muse, thankyou for your content x
Always really appreciate your opinion. Your deep dives helped me understand the depth in many of these games. I bought the originals again to replay. I think I need more time with the originals before I give the reboot a chance. I'll probably wait for your reviews also first. Keep up the amazing work.
It just doesn't look good to me and I'm not even bothered about it. I hope it lives up to everyone's hopes that want it to be good. I'll probably play it a couple years from now when I buy a used copy for cheap.
Love the video. Thank you for your honest take on this. Fans just get really passionate and have been screwed over so many times with other IP's. However we just need to wait and see.
I was always going to buy this remake. Silent Hill 2 is such an important game to me that curiosity alone is enough for me to try it. I was incredibly sceptical, and I still am, but I just have to know. I have to. The curiosity that would come from not playing it would actually drive me more mad than not playing it on principle. I have a physical copy of the original game and original hardware to play it, so it'll always be there.
I was initially excited when it was announced, and then after the first couple trailers that were released that Konami did (That last one we just got should've been the first and ONLY one), and all the backlash about that plus the DEI crap made me, like others, skeptical about it. I said to myself "I'll keep an eye on it." And then that most recent trailer and reviews came out. Ohhhh, Im excited for this! Even if it may not be on the level as the REmakes in the RE Engine (On that note, Capcom should seriously start letting others use the engine after they start using this newest version of it they have apparently. They could make so much fuckin money off that since it's theirs, AND other developers could use it and we could get a wide variety of games from it from others) and will probably have some flaws to it, I think either way it's a good looking game for what it is, and I think in the end we'll all be satisfied (Hopefully) and it'll sell really well and we get a Silent Hill 1 and 3 remake in the future.
@thegamingmuse you really should watch the story trailer. I understand your sentiment but it’s a near shot for shot recreation of the original trailer of SH2 when it showed at E3
I think you should watch this one just because it’s a recreation of what came before the first game, and they did such a proper homage it will really emotionally satisfy you without spoiling much (imo)
When SH2 remake was first announced I said that it was either going to be amazing or terrible with no in between. I'm still skeptical because I've lost a lot of trust with Konami, but I am excited to watch Lets Plays of it. Your channel is going to be the first one I check out when it releases.

Really enjoy your content. Game preordered. Won't make assumptions before I get the final product, keeping an open mind.
I absolutely really love your hair muse just so beautiful xo
I was just about to mention that!
Exactly.
Silent Hill does need something to open it up to bring more fans to that foggy town
This is maybe how konami executives came up with SH book of memories PS Vita : ruclips.net/video/SnNF2Vhu664/видео.html (kill all enemies in 60 seconds type of things...). Someone thought of a SH battle royale I'm sure
Remakes are not the answer
I’m so excited for this game AJ!!!
I haven't seen ANY videos about Silent Hill 2 the 2nd except for yours and honestly? You've made me more hype and hopeful than any video or gameplay stitch could've. I'm excited hehehe!
This looks so promising after this, love your hair btw!
About the game being on PS5 and possible sales problems, the game comes out on PC too the same day, so that's another good chunk of audience!
No one cares about PC gaming. PC gamers are insufferable pricks.
I never played SH2 back in the day, but your channel is what got me into the lore of the series and made me love it. I am absolutely going to be playing the remake!
That's so cool to hear! I hope you enjoy the new one
This game has had such an uphill battle from the start. Fighting old fans who couldn’t accept change, fake fans hate bandwagoning, and those morons who say it’s woke.
I still hate this game I will never support this remake, she may like it but I won't.
@JacobC-i8d 😢🎻
@@derekb4977 good for you
what? who's calling this game woke and for what reason? 😑
All I will say is I have finished the Remake and immediately started the Original just to wash my eyes off of it.
There, you said it all.
👍
-Jill
You remind me of my aunt who lives in a different country it’s comforting to listen to you talk
I've come around and so so excited
I am freaking pumped for this game.
The issue sadly lies with a fanbase that has been stewing in its own misery for so long that it can no longer approach anything in a sane way.
was great except for the jail scene. Voice was really off.
Love you’re content so much your videos on the people who made the first four games are spectacular I can’t wait to see your thoughts and ruminations on the remake!
but also remember that they enhanced alot (for the better) cuz people kept complaining , like James face in the intro mirror scene
Samurai Unicorn & Nightmare Operator are 2 I'm really anticipating!
More Muse on camera please 🙏
Such great points. Really enjoy your content. Keep it up!
It's so weird that I just love your opinions so much
That’s cool. But what’s your thoughts on the new trailer?
I havent seen any of the footages, so im getting the "going in blind" ;D
this game looks so good, and i hope it will be a huge success so we could see sh remake, maybe 3 and the room (didn’t played these two, so i hope ❤)
It feels SO GOOD to see SH again. I never thought we would see the day :D
This abomination isn't SH.
U should see the trailer they showed in the og version they spoiled so much more
@@stitchfan08this. They actually reeled in more than the original game did in that E3 trailer.
Ya this is always the case with remake trailers. Like the whole plot twist is a little too obvious now
@@MrFRNTIK you should probably check out the original game's 2001 E3 trailer. It showed a little MORE than what Bloober did.
@@adamthompson9785 no it doesn't? I will retract my statement earlier though. It's almost a 1:1 recreation of the original E3 trailer. So I guess it really only spoils as much as the original trailer did.
I agree! Thanks for your input and thoughts on this. I feel the same way.
But do you remember the original trailer from E3 2001? it's litterally a refined clone of that anouncement. And when i say "refined" oh boy... the first was so rough in comparision, and it shows WAAAY more.
You are consistently one of my favorite people to watch on RUclips. Thank you.
I saw the new story trailer and thats enough for me. Its clear Bloober has reverance for the IP. I'm so excited. SH2 is my favorite game of all time
Man I really hope your analysis in this video about how Silent Hill 2 remake will be received by a new audience I true.
Have a nice day everybody! Will tge remake be available on steam?
I am simply waiting for the release as well. I've been cautiously sceptical for the last few months.
the hype is real, I'm excited! getting my audio system ready for the spooky, creepy atmosphere!
I thought trshe was the end-all of silent hill content. But wow... you go even deeper
im personally excited.
I really like your optimism
Love the silent hill series and this is a day one purchase for me
i agree that they’ve shown waaaaay too much. i was shocked that they showed the staircase angela scene
The emotions seem wrong with the remake...it could simply be because "I don't like change" but the emotional weight of the dialog just seems to not be there for me.
For me, Silent Hill 2 Remake is a hard pass. I will stick with my Day 1 release of the original. [Note: I have no plans on purchasing a PS5.]
I also don't like the character models even more.
your videos on silent hill always get me so pumped. and you're right about trying to avoid spoilers for games. i do the same for movies but i never thought to do the same for games. the only thing that makes me feel differently is The Last of Us Part 2 having specific marketing strategies that enhance the gaming experience ~ for me at least.
I'm really hoping this franchise gets the resurgence it deserves, and by people who genuinely care about it's lore and legacy, not treating it's name like a cash grab... yeah im looking at you Ascension 👀
You rock Muse, thankyou for your content x
Another great video! Love your work and what you do and I love hearing what you have to say.
I agree with all the points you made!
I am excited for the remake and have been since they announced it. Silent Hill 2, FF XVI, and FF 7 Rebirth are the reasons I got my PS5 last year!
Is the release date pre-poned to 8 oct ?
@thegamingmuse you really should watch the story trailer. I understand your sentiment but it’s a near shot for shot recreation of the original trailer of SH2 when it showed at E3
I think you should watch this one just because it’s a recreation of what came before the first game, and they did such a proper homage it will really emotionally satisfy you without spoiling much (imo)
Your channel focuses so much on silent hill. It’s your duty to watch the new trailer and talk about it 😂
Yeah it's a clickbait title
When SH2 remake was first announced I said that it was either going to be amazing or terrible with no in between. I'm still skeptical because I've lost a lot of trust with Konami, but I am excited to watch Lets Plays of it. Your channel is going to be the first one I check out when it releases.
Good move, I regret watching the trailer. It made me really excited, but I wish I could have seen what was in it completely fresh in game
I hope theres a hardcore mode and Born From a Wish
I feel so alienated in thinking "a short messege" was absolutly awful.
Wait is The short message we'll liked? I thought it was considered awful.
@@mistertagomago7974 see, that's what I'm saying. The best part of that game was the maze where you had to find the items to make the door appear. The rest was a walking sim with a cringy story
Nah, it was absolutely awful. Terrible story telling, not subtle in the slightest, cringe, and not even related to silent hill in anyway.
