    Hey Guys, today one the boat we had Ben, Paul, and Declan, who are long time subscribers from Maine. They made it all the way out to Jupiter, Florida for a charter on the Movin Weight, and we had an absolute blast. The day started our a little slower, but we eventually got onto an intense Mutton snapper bite and after the boys were satisfied with their snapper fill we went out to drift where Ben not only got on his first sailfish, but also got a second, Declan got a nice Mahi, and Paul got a few Tuna bites. It was a pleasure having the Maine boys on the boat, hope we get to do it again, and if you'd like to have this fishing experience book a charter with me at movinweightcha... Hope you all enjoy this video!

    Gotta say brother you had a great attitude with these guys you were unbelievably patient and positive and a gentlemen. It was rather painful to watch many of them just how they handle the fear and fight a fish etc some are pretty darn green and I know how frustrating it can be watching stuff like that resulting in lost fish wasted fuel and opportunities etc the list goes on. I’ve been there we all have but I just had to point out that it’s easy to recognize how great you did seperating your normal day in the water and really committed to showing these guys the best day possible and you just had an outstanding attitude the entire time you’re way more patient then I am and I’m very patient with people lol. Well done man did the right thing and you ou should be proud these guys really don’t realize how lucky they got to not only have the experience but also a pure commitment on your end to just let all personal emotions go with the goal of just helping these guys get meat on the deck and have a fay out on the water they’ll remember for the rest of their lives. That’s what being a captain is all about sometimes and that seperation between being skipper and yourself is very difficult for many people but you ojoforfnit out the park. Tight lines brothe stay safe.

    Adam, just wondering if you had considered this alternative to the long leaders for muttons: why not rig something similar to what we do for planers? Rig it so you can attach a weight to a "heavy swivel" that separates your mainline and your leader. All you need would be a "heavy swivel" and a double-sided coast-lock swivel to make it work. After a fish strikes, you reel the rig up to the "heavy swivel", unclip the weight, wind the swivel through the guides, and then the leader as far as you need to get the fish close enough to land. I think this would make for a much more enjoyable fight for the angler versus hand-lining the fish once the leader gets to the rod tip. You could have a leader of whatever length you want and very simple to change them out if needed. Just a thought. I appreciate you posting your videos. It's like a gift when I get notified of a new one!

    yo adam, as a west coast angler, im genuinely curious why you would use a 20ft plus leader like you did for this video's style of fishing. ive seen you do this on the electric reel when using a 2lb lead and 4 hooks but i dont quite understand the reason for this type of fishing. cheers!

    • @jaybee006
      @jaybee006 Год назад

      Don't want to speak for Adam, but in my experience, lots of bottom fish like mutton are very leader shy and the long leader gives the bait plenty of freedom to swim naturally. You can make this process easier with a "quick release" system with a wind-on leader. We use a similar rigging strategy for using planers when trolling. Reel up to the planer, unclip it from the planer bridle, and then reel the leader in as far as you need to get the fish close enough to gaff. This keeps you from having to hand-line all that leader.

  • @keithscudder7136
    @keithscudder7136 Год назад

    Hand liming stinks. You should try something like a quick-release planer set up. You need in-line ball-bearing fitting to hook up a quick release that has a weight attached.
