Well, thanks for this and the others you've posted. This cleaned-up recording sounds great, very present, and Huddie's lyrics are crystal-clear. I'm glad for that, as listening here settles for once and all some of the misheard-lyrics arguments that swirl around a lot of his works. I've always thought I knew what he was singing, and I remember reading Pete Seeger's transcriptions, which were straight from someone who knew Huddie well and made music with him, but still down the years I've seen some variant interpretations that seemed...well, wrong to me. We all know internet lyrics can be hopelessly wrong sometimes, yes? So I'm happy to hear very clearly now that between Pete's words and my own ear, I had it right all along. Wasn't sure until this bit of evidence! OK, next question for my fellow Lead Belly fans out there: anyone know for sure what he was saying in "If It Wasn't For Dicky", particularly the choruses: "O switches sweeter than dow", or "Oh, which is sweeter than thou", or what? I do the song at gigs as the latter, as at least it makes sense and fits the narrative, kinda.
