The old nav for Toyota showed the speed limit can you do that on this system? It also said the street name you were on; it populated on the bottom of the map even if you didn't have a destination set.
I notice on occasion that when driving on a road the next turn direction briefly disappears for a moment and then it suddenly returns back. Anyone ever see this before. It happens on very specific roads not all roads. I also find it odd that you can’t update the maps via the settings considering that option is actually there. When you go into the map settings and try to update it says “It was not possible to complete the update. Please contact your dealer”. I thought the dynamic navigation was supposed to update over the air and the map would be up to date
IT will update over the air if it has a cell signal for the vehicle. If you lose the signal it will prompt you to visit your dealer. The navi turns should momentarily show on your cluster screen.
I have a 2020 ORP 4runner. Im looki g for a good navigation system. The stock one mostly will get me close to a atra but doesnt say what side the destination is. When your in a 3 lane road in the city its a pain. Is this one better and can it be put in the 2020 4runner
Hello Mr. Welch. I like your video. I wanted to ask a question that may or may not have been asked before. If my 2021 + Toyota XSE model didn’t come with an oem navigation, is it possible to install the oem map by swapping the head unit for a jbl version, purchasing the navigation module, brackets, and connector harness or do I have to purchase another vehicle that came with it? Does the GPS module under the head unit need to be programmed to the vin or is it plug in play? Thank you for your time.
Thanks for the video very helpful. When navigating with the system it will send me directly into traffic sometimes instead of avoiding it. Does the system have a setting to avoid traffic?
Thanks for this video. Can you do one just like this on a 2021 or 2022 highlander? Or could you maybe look into this and reply letting me know please. I have a 21 platinum highlander and when I go to the menu to change the map mode, like you did in this video, there is not an option to turn the speed limit on/off. My owners manual shows that it should be there but it’s not on my car. I’m just trying to figure out if that option should be on there or not since the owners manual shows it. Thanks!
Very informative! Question, how to update to latest map. Thanks.

How do you adjust the screen so it automaticall changes back & forth from light to dark mode when driving in & out of shade covered roads?

@@stevenwelchtoyota I’ve seen the error “visit your dealer” even if there is cell reception.
When I hit the map button the screen reads something about no app installed. How do I make this work. 2023 4runner
IT means you dont have integrated maps you have to use Carplay or Android auto
I have android auto but it still does not work?,?
It works with Android Auto, but you still have to plug it in to make it work.
I have the same model in 2021, but unfortunately, you can't update it via sd card

you can try but they are not meant to be swapped

It does. You can set it to avoid traffic, construction, tolls etc
