      To me it is sometimes relaxing, because it loosens all the tension in a powerful way. It is not so much calming down as it is shaking of stress and tension. Freeing my chest, freeing my breath. I also sometimes get a soothing feeling as if something warm is appearing in my chest and slowly spreads through my body, releasing any tension or doubts I have. Good music is truly a serene experience and should never be judged solely by the looks of the performers!

    7:28 This is one of the details that make Rammstein so awesome - "du hast" means "you have" but "du hasst" (slightly stronger pronounciation on the s, but nearly the same) means "you hate".
    Ramstein songs have at least two meanings they always build in little twists like that which goes over the head of a non german speaker...
    You, you hate, you hate me...!?
    You... you hate, you hate me!
    You have asked me and i said nothing!

      They have command of their native tongue, and seem to enjoy their double entendres.
      This is how you separate the children from the scholars.
      To be able to write something with a complex double meaning, and not have the two definitions be at odds with one another, but instead compliment... It's some next level shit.

    • @beritgehrke4527
      @beritgehrke4527 8 месяцев назад

      the "s" is identical in pronunciation (only the spelling is different) - the only difference is in (neutral) sentential stress when you have the whole sentences: Du hasst mich. (stress on the main verb "hasst") vs. Du hast mich gefragt. (stress on the main verb "gefragt"). And the lyrics are even more subtle, it is not "will you marry me - no" but "will you be faithful/true until death parts you - no", which could also be understood in terms of friendship etc. And yes, I always loved their play on words!

    • @jmpet7134
      @jmpet7134 8 месяцев назад

      @@jastermereel8387 Its a play on german words that sound similar. Initially it sounds like "you hate me" but later they add the words "nicht gefragt" which when combined with "hast" is past tense of "to ask" so it actually says you didn't ask me. The meaning is lost in translation due to the play on the german words.

      They missed an important part - in the beginning the singer and the crowd perform "Du hast, du hast, du hast .......... du hast mich gefragt". As a German speaker (from Austria): when I heard the song for the first time, I understood: "Du hasst, du hasst, du hasst, ...." which means "You hate" or "you are full of heat" - by adding "mich gefragt" it suddenly turned into "du hast" (you have). However, for me it had several cute moments. I had to laugh out for the question if they play on weddings. And "smooth and relaxing" was something I didn't expect, lol. I mean for me they are indeed that, although also energising, but I wouldn't have expected it from one of them. But yes, the question if we would become their friends now was the cutest. I just thought, well, I'm pretty sure there are already Germans following this channel who wouldn't reject. I myself didn't come here by that, even though I just recognised them yesterday but binge watch them since then now. And funnily at some point I thought they should react to Rammstein. Im a german native speaker and I have to say that it is very hard to translate the lyrics of a Rammstein song. This is because they always play a lot with words. So for example the beginning:
    "Du
    Du hast
    Du hast mich"
    literally means :
    "You,
    you have,
    you have me"
    But the verb "hast" sounds exactly the same as the verb "hasst" which means "hate". So as a german speaker you can choose between two meanings: The literally one above and the following:
    "You
    you hate
    You hate me"

      @@verenas3536 Rammstein is approved by German teachers all across Russia. For real. Of course, we discuss the issues regarding R and so on, that it`s not natural and it shouldn`t be reproduced but there are no nazi-vibes if I can put it this way. The Nazis in Soviet/Russian movies speak Hochdeutsch: very beautiful (to me, however, some refer to it as "barking"), very threatening, very difficult to follow. That stuff is never used in class.

    • @lo4568
      @lo4568 2 года назад +8

      @@mytargetlanguages8803 Hochdeutsch has nothing to do with the nazis, many people speak Hochdeutsch here. A better term for Hochdeutsch is Standarddeutsch. Standarddeutsch refers to all the variations of the German language that are written down in a dictionary ( = that are standardized). There are three variations of Standarddeutsch: German Standarddeutsch, Austrian Standarddeutsch, Swiss Standarddeutsch. All three of those variations are "legit", meaning that if you get a letter from the government (for example), it will be written in Standarddeutsch. It's basically the official language. Many people speak Standarddeutsch on a daily basis, myself included. Standarddeutsch does not include slang or dialects. They are not Standarddeutsch, which means that you will never receive an official document that is written in a dialect or slang. If you are unsure whether a term that you have heard is Standarddeutsch oder dialect/slang, just look it up in a dictionary. If it can be found in a dictionary, it is Standarddeutsch, which means that you can use it in official documents/scientific papers/etc. There are also slight differences in German, Austrian and Swiss Standarddeutsch, which you can also look up in the dictionaries, but most stuff is the same. This is why Germans, Austrians and Swiss people can all communicate perfectly with each other, as long as we use Standarddeutsch. Once we start speaking in our different dialects, we don't understand anything at all anymore lol. But that doesn't only happen between Austrians and Germans for example, it also happens between Germans and Germans or Austrians and Austrians because we have multiple very different dialects in our countries. So a German from the north and a German from the south will probably not understand each other well (if they use their dialects), UNLESS they choose to speak Standarddeutsch. Standarddeutsch/Hochdeutsch is basically a blessing to the German language because otherwise we wouldn't understand sh#t lol

      @@verenas3536 it’s actually the old “radio speech”. Back in the early days of radio, you couldn’t understand anything anyone said unless they massively overpronounced. Hence the stereotypical “radio announcer” voice. The dialect Till uses in performance is the German equivalent. Before it was used by Nazis, it was much more associated with Ernst Busch: a leftist singer, and a big inspiration for Till. Busch is most famous for being the Narrator in the first production of The Threepenny Opera. He was also active in anti-Nazi protests throughout the 1930s: using radio to continue broadcasting activist music into Germany from Amsterdam. When the Spanish Civil War broke out, Busch went to Spain along with many other German exiles. Rather famously, he recorded an album during a bombing raid on Madrid. Eventually the Nazis captured him, and he spent 12 years in a concentration camp. When he was released, he suffered a stroke (likely due to mistreatment while in the camp). His ex-wife found him (prewar he had a habit of marrying lesbians so they could get citizenship papers), and helped him recover. He returned to East Germany as a hero.

Is that why there so are many romance languages. You can see it better, thought in French, since the Vulgar Latin spoken there was heavily influences by Frankish tribes and the motive that Portuguese is considered the language most close related to vulgar latin (aside from sardinian from what I know ) its because the Gothic (The germanic tribe that settled on the Iberian peninsula and got clapped by trhe Rashidun arabs )influence is almost dead, but there are lots of arabic influence in it, though

    It is wonderful to see other cultures react to Rammstein. You did a great job explaining it as always, because this song of Rammstein is hard to translate. It has dopple meaning with the word "Hast" (have) and "Hasst" (hate), this is why it is difficult to explain.
    Yes Germans watch your reactions also and appreciate it.
    Greetings from Germany and everyone stay healthy.

    I've been watching your videos for quite some time and it totally surprised me to see them how they react to Heavy Metal. Such genuine responses, curiosity and interest is very refreshing for someone that listens to Metal music for mostly 30 years now.
    And what makes me like them even more, they don't judge negatively even though they seem religious and pious, they're just people apprectiating things with an open mind. I've encountered more "modern" and "civilized" people being disrespectful and judging without question that I can count.
    And Parvati is a true metalhead at heart, bless her !

      and with Rammstein they do have brave hearts, really. I mean we see the themes that run through their music and there is (almost^) always multiple layers of depth and nuance, ambiguity and hidden meanings, they actually have something to say, they are artists. And they have also at times had difficult penalties for their bravery or stance, eg songs like Links when people were making silly xenophobic comments saying if they sing in German they must be far right even calling them 'neonazi', just because they play hard music and sing in their native language. They have been arrested and/or detained in several countries, including US and Russia, for "indecency", which in fairness is sometimes pushing the performative bondaries but has also been for things like waving a Pride flag, or the kiss at the end Auslander, etc. And the hardships growing up, and so on
