Yeah, but now that I watched it I would like a sequel, pls. Cause Dan Stevens... I wo-I would love to watch Dan Stevens being crazy super soldier again pls. Yeah, I know there's Legion.
Even if sequels are bad, ending a movie on a cliffhanger is worse. Closure is a good thing. And if the first one is good people will watch the second one without question which is a good thing for the creators even if the sequel sucks they're still getting their money back. It's like if Firefly had no movie to end its plot.
Yay! The Guest was filmed in my home town of Moriarty, New Mexico. They blew up our favorite restaurant and burned down the school. Very cool memories! Thanks RLM for bringing attention back to this great movie!
@The Dead Peterson Kid I wouldn't. It would be a prestige to say that you went to the number #1 restaurant in town before it got put into a movie for it's last day
Oh, another semi-famous RUclipsr posting a random bland comment on a famous channel in order to lure some idiots and rack a few subs. How embarrassingly obvious.
Ralph has said he has been a fan of RLM for years and that they had a huge influence on him becoming interested in movies. He can comment on one of their videos if he wants to.Also don't just hate on him because his a furry and is gay,not cool.
lmfao bruh. That'd be the most mundane attempt to gain subscribers ever. It'd be so incredibly inefficient vs just actually going out and making content.
You can't go wrong with being inspired by John Carpenter. The man is a straight genius. Between 76-88 I don't think he made a single bad movie. It's a shame he never gets talked about in the same way Spielberg does. I know people think of Halloween when they think of Carpenter but The Thing is his masterpiece if you ask me. It might be one of the best movies ever made.
Interviews with higher profile industry professionals through the candid filter of RLM is something I look forward to seeing more of in the future. Simon's breakdown of the creative process and production decisions was fascinating.

I like Simon as a guest (no pun intended). Going throgh his though process of a film with film-buff Jay was awesome. And he knows a bit about JoJo? Simon staph pls!
I was interested in the film when he talked about the idea, but when they mentioned that EVERYBODY IN IT LISTENED TO SYNTHWAVE ALL THE TIME, I needed to watch the movie asap.
I hope one day he realizes that being a cult movie doesn't mean that the film was a failure, but rather that it connected to those of us with shared interests & humor in a deeper way than most mainstream movies are capable of.
The minute anyone mentions The Guest I always think back to that kickass bar fight where he specifically orders certain drinks so they can be used as weapons. Never seen anything like that
This is why I love RLM: One minute it's a bunch of guys sitting around a table telling terrible jokes, the next it's thoughtful and insightful commentary on what is (arguably) the most important art form in the western world. Just great, and always entertaining. Thank you gentlemen.
Can’t believe you guys brought The Guest to re:View. I made my girlfriend watch this with me in an empty theater in San Antonio and loved it absolutely. I thought this was my own little favorite movie cause it completely disappeared from existence post theater, seemed like. Nobody talks about it but it’s fantastic. Thank you for validating my taste in movies, RLM.
JONATHAN JOESTAR! HE'S GIORNO'S NON-BIOLOGICAL FATHER! P.S.: I realize that Dio possessing Jonathan's body with his vampire powers, then having ALL the sex all over the place kind of makes Jonathan the biological father of Giorno. However, I just had to think of a way to make a joke to fit in with everyone else here.

Thank you, Jay and Simon, for bringing The Guest to my attention. I hadn't heard of it until now and just watched it. I loved the way it was filmed, the music and the actors, especially Dan Stevens. Keep up the awesome work! ^_^
Thanks for this re:view :) The Guest is one of my favourite movies. I love the Halloween atmosphere, the synth score and Dan Stevens kills it ;) It stands out, and I wish it'd got more recognition than all the other sequel, prequel remakes. More movies like it please!
I recall when I saw its ads years ago I assumed it WAS like a Jason statham Bourne identity thing, where I assumed he went there because he wanted to perfect the family from the armed gunmen kind of thing. Its cool that they interviewed someone who has actually had experience making real mainstream films with a budget and exploring the real nuts and bolts of the industry. Its really fascinating to listen to. I hope they do more re:Views like this.
Love You're Next, especially love the guest and this is brilliant because you get to see the thought process, Jay shutting up and listening is testament to Simons ability to fully explain his vision
I absolutely love this movie and have watched it with many of my close friends, all of which who have loved it as much me. With the current episode, it's my headcanon now that David from The Guest is another alternate David Haller :P
UGotSerbed Yes! I hope we get a season 3.
Climax DeAbsurdum bummer.
Well of all the things brought up in this video JoJo's Bizarre Adventure was not something I expected to ever hear in an RLM video
Your comment got snubbed D:
I'm imaging one of them image searching Jojo's and being very confused, hahaha.

Yes I too would like to thank him for bringing Dan Stevens and his muscles to my attention.

“How about Halloween III meets Terminator?” sold
I was shocked by how much I loved The Guest.
I'm guessing your expectations for it were low.
I didn't really have any expectations one way or the other when I saw it. I went in blind just watching a random movie.
I loved it and laughed at parts that I thought were meant to be serious. Now I know they intended it to be funny and that makes it even better.
I'm extremely surprised because this year I watched Second Class Cinema review of The Guest and same year RLM uploads a review of the same movie..
Thanks Simon and Jay. I really appreciate this sort of glimpse into the creative thought process. It’s a very interesting discussion.
