Your friend is correct, nitrous systems are cheaper than your average forced induction kits and are just as capable when used correctly. Turbo applications love nitrous, they use it to help spool the turbo and eliminate all turbo lag. You'll be leaving out of the hole with all of your power, not just some of it.
