with the combo machine....make sure you use fabric softener to stop the wrinkles. Or immediately take them out and hang for the last little bit of dampness. A pain..but way less painful than dragging the laundry to the mat!
The kitchen in the apartment that has the non working fireplace has a horrible kitchen layout. You can’t reach the sink without reaching over the oven, a potential burn hazard and fire risk depending on what you are wearing. Not an inducement for washing your hands when preparing food. 😬
I like watching these because the apartments look like well appointed prison cells…. for a crapload of money. 🎃 And for that price you don’t even get central air. 🤔
Where would you put central air in a building over a century old? No one has central air. The cold air from a window air conditioner is just as cold. They aren't prison cells. They are places to crash for the night, and they're bigger than Tokyo's capsules, which are the size of a coffin.

If I was going to get a studio apartment I'd want a sofa-bed or a murphy bed. Then you can lay the living room out like a living room and you don't feel like you're inviting guests in to your bedroom (unless you want to ;-) )

Finally some apartments in New York City with en suite laundry. The first 2 apartment were nice and had some character - brick walls, roof deck with scary steep stairs. I could make either of them work, just the prices. Sadly though, in most large cities rents just keep go higher and higher.
So the apartment before you got the toured one, the fireplace... actually seemed to stick into the other room, which suggests that the bedroom wasn't actually there before. Watch for the corner before he looks at the rest of the bedroom. The one thing i'm still not liking, the fact that all the microwaves are for tall people. There is one where i'm at, and i have to use a 3 tier step ladder in order to clean it, well, okey 2 tier works, but to get to the upper cabinets, 3 tier. Yes, i'm short, maybe average height back in the 1600's? 5ft.
Wow, watching this channel is such an interesting anthropological experience. Knowing there are people who actually pay a fortune to live so badly. NYC must be really irresistible.
I'm enjoying your videos. You have altered my perception of New York. The things I have not liked are patios above the 2nd floor and spiral staircases. We won't even discuss the prices :)
I see a lot of windows in these videos that appear to be from the Foggy Windows Company. They must be doing really good because there seem to be quite a few in NYC.
If your LG combo washer/dryer is giving you damp, wrinkled clothes, you’re packing too big a load into it. If you limit your load (about a 7-hour wash/dry cycle) to two complete sets of clothes, they’ll come out dry and wrinkle-free.
That's a combi boiler above the washing machine, Cash. Heats the radiators in the rooms and also hot water on demand. Most houses in the UK have them, I guess they're less common over in the US.
I wish I knew where that 1 bedroom apartment was other than "in Manhattan." Manhattan is a big borough with lots of very different neighborhoods. The really nice apartments Charles had were in East Harlem. True to form, it seems like the nicest apartments are in the scariest neighborhoods.
@figmo397. My son & his gf just moved from East Harlem to Kips Bay (way more “residential” area ...plus he can afford it now😆🤩) The old apt was in an OK area- not the best, but not the worst by any means. Thing is : that EH apt was A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E! Super modern, washer/dryer IN unit, & RELATIVELY affordable👍 (No doorman or elevator like Kips Bay apt thou🤣😂😭)
Regarding your combo washer dryer, before you dry the clothes, take them out, shake them and put them back in the dryer and they’ll dry a lot better. My mother taught me that many years ago and it works. Try it and let me know. 😆 My mom was a home economics teacher at PS 164 in Washington Heights.
For counters like that first kitchen that don't have a nice eating area, you can attach wall shelves to make that eating area, especially in a tiny place like that.
So I’m from Canada and this might be a stupid question but in New York State or New York City specifically is there a certain percentage that you are restricted to increasing rent two? Like if my rent goes up it’s only allowed to go up by something like 1.5%. But after I move out they could raise the rent to whatever the market value is at the time I move out. But I just wondered what is the markup of almost $1800 within a restricted framework within the city? Or is it just like oh market value is $5000 so I’m going to raise it to that? I don’t know if this makes sense
@@jessmPS there are 3 different types of apartments in NYC. Rent controlled. Rent stabilized. Market rate. Rent controlled apartments are free & far between. The rents must be approved by DHCR which is actually state & increases cannot be more than 7.5% per year. Landlords must prove why the increase is justified. There is also a MBR (maximum base Rent) that the landlord cannot exceed but they are allowed to charge a fee for fuel increases. Controlled apartments were passed out as tenants moved & those units became Rent stabilized. Stabilized apartments have 1 or 2 year leases & increases are voted on every year by the Rent guidelines board. It can vary on percentage from test to year & usually it's a sh*tshow between Landlords & tenants. If a lease comes due for renewal the tenant has to almost gamble on whether or not to take a 2 year lease. Market rate is just that. A Landlord can charge whatever he wants & it's up to the tenant to decide if it's worth it. During the pandemic people were moving out of NYC & Landlords were lowering rent & giving concessions trying to get people to move in so they weren't losing $$$ on empty units. Now that those leases are coming due Landlords are raising rents like crazy to make up for any $$$ they lost (& also sometimes just for greed). Hope these explanations helped

with the combo machine....make sure you use fabric softener to stop the wrinkles. Or immediately take them out and hang for the last little bit of dampness. A pain..but way less painful than dragging the laundry to the mat!
To think that I would acutely need close to 6000 a month to get into anything I would like in New York is mind blowing to me!!! 😳
We paid $6,000!
...Every 6 months.😏
I always lived in big spacious apartments in Brooklyn. The size of these rooms are sooooo small. I can see why minimalism is all of the rage.
Making a virtue of a necessity was always popular. Probably most have storage somewhere else, like their parents' house.
The kitchen in the apartment that has the non working fireplace has a horrible kitchen layout. You can’t reach the sink without reaching over the oven, a potential burn hazard and fire risk depending on what you are wearing. Not an inducement for washing your hands when preparing food. 😬
The paint job on the fireplace. Love the drip effect........ Happy Halloween. 🤣☮
It went up 1795 cuz they fixed the shower door🤣
Imagine having a job that makes you enough to pay just shy of 5k in monthly rent yet you live in this piece of s***. As ny'ers say... Get outta heeea.
This is Gonna b so Good CJ🔥🔥🔥👍n Happy Sunday😀….
I like watching these because the apartments look like well appointed prison cells…. for a crapload of money. 🎃
And for that price you don’t even get central air. 🤔
It's funny and ironic how you're the one doing time and you're also the one getting robbed. But it's voluntary so I guess that makes it all right.
Where would you put central air in a building over a century old? No one has central air. The cold air from a window air conditioner is just as cold. They aren't prison cells. They are places to crash for the night, and they're bigger than Tokyo's capsules, which are the size of a coffin.
@@robinlillian9471 Way back in 67, you could stay in the Greenwich Hotel on Bleecker Street for $1.60 a night. You had to be a single male. What you got was a cot and a chair with a naked light bulb hanging down. No AC at all. Just a little bigger than those Japanese capsule rooms. You had to go down two floors to the bathroom. I know cause I stayed in one once. I needed a place to crash for the night. Those were the good old days!!
Thanks for the tour I love how you test everything
Cash, you are so quick with all the clues.... you must be great at playing checkers. I really like Apt 2 for 3k. 36k for a year vacay in NYC with furniture rental maybe 48k... not too shabby.
The place with the mirrored, gold shower. WTactualF. That kitchen sink was an afterthought. The fireplace! what happened to the rest of it? oh my.
1st Apt- Dude, I love the private roof deck! So cool!
2nd Apt- I love the view of all the tres and all the exposed brick. I’m a sucker for exposed brick.
3rd Apt- I’m sure it’ll look dope when it’s renovated. I love the size of the unit, downstairs, and backyard space.
4th Apt- it’s so unique! IlI love the view and roof deck on this one as well. Not a fan of the sink sizes in this though.
5th Apt-My grandparents had the gold shower slide with the mirror in their house lol. The fireplace looks kinda odd. Maybe it’s just me. I love how bright it is though.
6th Apt-Again, another sick view! I love how vibrant and spacious everything looks in this one. Beautiful counter space.
7th Apt-View is clutch again! Especially the master bedroom view. Not totally sure why this is the same price as the other though.
8th Apt-I love the “illegal” backyard yo 😂. I’m not big on studios, but I actually like the size of this one.
Whichever building had a gym in it is where I’d wanna live (per usual that’s my biggest draw 😂). Loved this video! Thanks Cash! You’ll have to give us an update on your the pregnancy and your wife is doing man!
Just as I was about to cut out early, you brought on the MVP Charles and my interest returned.
Yey for a 16 minute video! Loved it of course!
Cash's 1st apartment was good but the rest were kinda meh especially the one with the fireplace split between two rooms! What was that all about!! Loved Charles 1st apartment best of all even though it was very expensive. Thanks guys.
If I was going to get a studio apartment I'd want a sofa-bed or a murphy bed. Then you can lay the living room out like a living room and you don't feel like you're inviting guests in to your bedroom (unless you want to ;-) )
The second apartment, how do you wash dishes with the stove blocking access ??
You don't. You go out to eat and use paper plates on the rare occasions you reheat your left overs.
So happy I left New York. I only go now to visit. ❤
I don't even go to visit. The crime is insane!
@@jacksonmorganfroghin4815 I know it’s crazy sigh 😔
You do an amazing job with your videos, just your work ethic in general is inspiring for many I’m sure. I will say, pretty much all your videos remind me of why I’d never move to New York, even though I’d love to. I love everything about NYC. The culture, the bodegas, the views, parks, and hustle n bustle. But the prices, holy shit. I mean….. HOLY SHIT.
Charles for the win on his unit!
Yoooo duuuude!...be glad your stuff doesn't get burnt by the dryer..your clothes will wear out way quicker if they're dried too much....I *purposely* dry my things so they're not quite completely dry, on low heat. Keeps 'em newer longer
Finally some apartments in New York City with en suite laundry. The first 2 apartment were nice and had some character - brick walls, roof deck with scary steep stairs. I could make either of them work, just the prices. Sadly though, in most large cities rents just keep go higher and higher.
Why not just go to a laundromat? You could even pay the staff there to do your laundry for you for a couple of dollars.
People perish for lack of knowledge!😢
I'm enjoying your videos. You have altered my perception of New York. The things I have not liked are patios above the 2nd floor and spiral staircases. We won't even discuss the prices :)
When you have a steep stair case to the outside space. Install a basket with a pulley for getting food and libations up and down.
Those stairs are deadly ☠😱 And the second to last apartment was a disaster.
They're young adults. No children. No old people.
That's a combi boiler above the washing machine, Cash. Heats the radiators in the rooms and also hot water on demand. Most houses in the UK have them, I guess they're less common over in the US.
I love your videos
Thanks for everything you put in , I appreciate it
I’m all for weird apartments 🤣
So glad to see Cash not slam the microwave door.
Cash. You need to lure Charles over to your firm. He delivers the good stuff.
The cube hole as you call it it a loft bed. So you need a ladder to get up and down. I used visit someone who had once like this in their apartment.
“Okay. Take that back. They’re reachable.”
Brilliant.
Cute apartments, the only thing spooky about it is the price.
Super modern, washer/dryer IN unit, & RELATIVELY affordable👍 (No doorman or elevator like Kips Bay apt thou🤣😂😭)
coffee and Cash in the mornin ❤️❤️❤️✌️
Regarding your combo washer dryer, before you dry the clothes, take them out, shake them and put them back in the dryer and they’ll dry a lot better. My mother taught me that many years ago and it works. Try it and let me know. 😆 My mom was a home economics teacher at PS 164 in Washington Heights.
Why not just go to a laundromat?
@@robinlillian9471 Cheaper to do it yourself, healthier and more convenient. Why go outside when you can do it at home.
Always fun‼️✨
For counters like that first kitchen that don't have a nice eating area, you can attach wall shelves to make that eating area, especially in a tiny place like that.
I wonder how many broken doors on washing machines, cabinets and other things Cash has opened have occurred 😂👍 great video as always man
1st uni...The dryer wouldn't open the other way because of the angle wall.
Both units...washing machine is next to the sink so it can ďrain.
Where do all these grey bathroom tiles come from. Are they giving them away in NYC? Every apartment you review has them.
Combo washer/dryers will dry better if after the wash is done, you run it for an additional spin cycle
Great content Cash. Keep it coming
Only in a rent stabilized apartment
@@CashJordan can you define rent stabilized in NYC cuz all rent is restricted to about a 1.5% increase per year in Toronto from the date of move in.
@@CashJordan ALSO THANKS
@@jessmPS not everything is rent stabilized. Most aren't. If it's not stabilized then the landlord can do whatever they want for an increase.
I always get a kick out of you loving kitchen sink sprayers. You are just to cute.
Only the dryer door is reversible and the machines normally have the washer on the left side.
Does anybody ever sit on a stool in their own home? So uncomfortable, LOL. Stools always strike me as an AirBnB picture feature, and when i stay at AirBnBs that have stools, i use them tio put my shoes on them 😆
Sorry, Cash but Charles kinda one up ya on his apartments. I really loving the studio apartment I like how the kitchen is separate to bedroom/lounge room.
i love the fire escape access especially if its a floor above 5th, great smoking spot imo
WOW! it's amazing to think of who can afford those apartments that cost so much but are soooooo small. The space of the apartments would drive me crazy.
I kinda like the 2nd apt, it’s cozy.
