This is my all-time favorite Allman Bros song!
NeuroGoddess mine too
Mine for sure...!
Same here 😢 . Rest In Peace Mr. Dickey Betts
allmans got a goldmine for a guitar player in dickie betts.
Can't get enough of dickey. He is bad ass. One of the best. Love the whole band
Definitely Badass!
want to feel old? this concert in '94 was to commemorate 25 years since the original woodstock in '69. we're now over 25 years since this, meaning that this is closer in time to the original woodstock than today
BEST Music💘✊
This line up was kicking major ass at the time. They were the best of that weekend. And as always they were and always will be THE BEST F_CKING BAND EVER! EVER!!!
You've got that right!
Huge insult to 90s bands that were emerging at this time
@@unknownkingdom You are too young to appreciate this.
@@unknownkingdomWell the majority of 90s bands were trash in comparison to ABB so..
My favorite Allman Brothers song! R.I.P. Gregg ♥ You will be missed.
WOW! JESSICA!!!
Thx for everything Greg
A true historical fact that perhaps only hardcore ABB fans would know is that all of the band's great instrumental tunes, I.E., Jessica, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, etc... were all written by Forest Richard Betts!
Y
Little Martha?
@@alexdelarge703 Duane Allman wrote it after seeing the grave of a 12 year old girl called Martha.
@@pauljordan4452 I know, I’m questioning the OP
Incredible. Simply the best.
what a smokin version ! this ABB lineup at the top of their game, Dickey such a great songwriter
Dickie Betts' sound is the heart and soul of the Allman Brothers sound! He and Gregg are the whole thing. Like Mick and Keith are to the Stones.
Love the Stones reference!
imo one the best live recordings of this song it builds into a juggernaut climax
I saw them at Great Woods this same weekend. I don't recall how, but they played a show, went to Woodstock, then came back for a show. It was The H.O.R.D.E. tour.
Rest in peace and rise in glory Dickey Betts! He was a genius.
would have loved to see Dickie reunite with the band in 2014 for their final tour. Gregg asked him but he declined. But Gregg did speak with Dickie a couple of times before he passed away.thanks for posting.
Holy HANNA what a killer performance!
My fave Betts/Allman tune..
Beautiful, powerful, joyful
🌹
classic & timless=]
Generations like it because it's about a father and his daughter.
Saw them in New Haven in the 70's great jamming band
I just got an email from a colleague named Jessica while listening to this!
Betts SMOKIN'!
It's a long time since the Allmans played Knebworth, they were great that day
Jessica - The epitome of what Southern Rock is all about if y'all don't get it. If I see another Top Gear reference I may go ballistic. (;
+TheBigjohn527 Top Gear. Now go ballistic.
That verison is heresy.
“Great news! What? The Dacia Sandero”
Great performance. My very favorite, mainly guitar instrumental. Now I think I will find one that has the piano feature and listen to all of it, also.
Dickie Betts! 'nuff said!
The best band there that day.
REST IN PEACE GREGG
Amen to that.
Omg the outro to this tune is insane.
Nothing like southern rock
Jessica is an American song of the American group Allman Brothers.
Saw them and heard it live in Gainesville. Tonight, from my native Libya.. Rip Mr. Dickey Betts 💐🥀
Named my daughter after this song.. Jessica
Many of us also named daughters Melissa also, whenever I worked with a Jessica or Melissa I would say, "your parents were Allman Brothers fans." They would reply, "How did you know?" (well that was easy).
@@johnbondola3246 I whistle the first six bars of this whenever I'm around a Jessica!
top gear song,for me forever!
😎🎹🎸🥁👏🇧🇷🇧🇷
Not crazy about Warren's tone. It makes the intro sound like an 8 bit Nintendo version.
+AOB
or worse..
AOB can you play it better?
AOB I know what you're saying, it aint Mr. Betts tone! I always preferred Dan Toler over Mr. Haynes, but that's all subjective. No offense to any of these fine players who ever graced a stage with The Bros.
Sounds like a plastic flute with the trombone-like slider thing. He's good though, just not that tone.
Warren needs to turn the gain down quite a bit on his amp here.
3:20 OMG such rqaycizzm OMG I literally can't even
At least spell the word correctly.
Man I don't care how much Dickie and Warren hated each other...They were GREAT together.
Why dont they get along?
Dickey's had substance problems still..and can be a bit of a 'I'm the boss, this is how it goes' guy. He burned out the rest of the band. Shame, because as much as I love Warren and Derek, it feels like the warren haynes band, not the ABB without DIckey.
I could see how that could affect things. Thats too bad, thanks for the info Mike, appreciate it.
For some reason I've always found rock and roll history so interesting.
I don't think Warren hates Dickey or ever hated Dickey. He probably had a few issues, otherwise he might not have left with Woody in 97.
Neither one has ever said an unkind word about the other in print. Warren has consistently praised Dickey for bringing him into the Allman Brothers. And Dickey (like virtually everybody else) has consistently raved about Warren's playing. Dickey's problems were with Gregg, Butch (especially), and to a lesser extent Jaimoe.
Dickey,Jerry and Eddie-best tone!
These guys must have the high scores for Guitar Hero.
LOl Guitar Hero calls them for advice lol
This sounds like it was recorded on a flip phone while it was being blended into a smoothie, but I can still tell Warren needed to turn the volume knob on his guitar down a few hairs
Warren’s guitar tone reminds me of brutalist architecture, monstrous monolithic featureless cliffs of cement, projecting nothing but their own presence. He has robbed the elegant Les Paul of any hope of subtlety
In contrast, Dickey’s guitar sounds like nature itself: complex, rich, curious, playful, sweet, sour, always perfect in the mix
Dickey has slowed the tempo of this to reflect his daughter Jessica growing up.@@whatWhoNow
It’s the sound engineering/ recording. Keyboard and both guitars sound a little nasty - in a bad kinda way.
Musicianship is top notch by all members.
Ironic to see 2 guitarists playing this song live and the one NOT playing a Les Paul is Dickie Betts. Paul Reed Smith has to love this!
The Les Paul would have caused Dickey back pain. PRS is lighter but both are iconic guitars. I also saw in a video that Les Paul himself had a bent right arm like I do, yet was still a great guitarist.
Ok so this was professionally shot and multi-tracked. So the best they can come up with is this bad copy that looks like a multi generation vhs dub. That can't be.
If you want a totally different experience change the speed to 1.25
Welcome to bo''om gear m8tes
Tonoight on bo''om gear

Hammond uses a toilet

Funny. A glottal stop is '
Sounds a bit off. Somethings not right. Not the spirit of previous versions.
Like you said no spirit, it's a bit slow and no piano. Guitar vb tone is a bit much too. Needs to be backed off a bit.
The argument used to be, who's better Dickey or Duane, at this point it was, who's better Dickey or Warren. I might even lean towards Warren, his solos are so fluid and melodic and he just wails, which Dickey didnt. Dickey was more "jagged" and tended to repeat the same licks over and over. On the other hand, i learned to play guitar solos from Dickey's solos and used his myxolydian scale exclusively. Either one i think is 10x better than the Skynyrd guitarists who i also used to love, but played the same memorized solos with no improvisation whatsoever.
man...always thought Mr. Betts sounded great on the PRS. Damn good player...
He's a master guitar player. Sounds good on the Les Paul also.
Really don’t see what hate has to do with this
Play at paper 1.25
What is he saying at 4:58 with his hands?
@@pauljordan4452 No, he is saying "More cowbell!"
Or actually “more POWER!!!!”
you must understand. :0
the abb must have liked him because he played with them forever...😜
Fk u too... I know ore about this band than you will in your lifetime😎
I can't deny that Dickie was the sound of the Allman Brothers. But, he was a complete A$$hole to work with, according to those closest to the band. But, hey; if you are that great, you earn that right if its what keeps the money coming in. Best of all, he has just about outlived everyone in the classic line up
concrete and clay
to all da critics......get a band........bla bla bla......

Sorry, but Warren Haynes kicks Dickey’s butt!
Love Haynes but not on his best day
I've always thought that, great as Warren Haynes is.. his tone and playing just never quite fit with the Allman Brothers. Even Dan Toler and Derek Trucks "fit" but Haynes just has too much.. I don't know.. something with his amp set up maybe.
Bad
Makes me want to throw up to hear Hayes butcher another ABB song
+Lost Seriously? His tone isn't that good in this performance, but Haynes is a great guitarist.
They supposedly nailed this show and I see now why...
