Great video. I’ll add a couple tips I use to make things easier & less wasteful…use wet/dry bags instead of plastic zip lock bags. I have one for each day I’m in the office (I put used pump parts in the wet side & bags of pumped milk in the dry side and keep in the fridge during the workday…also helpful when out & about) and at the end of the week I wash them all for the next week. Also, Amazon has a pumping bra attachment so you can convert any nursing bra into a pumping bra (doubled my pumping options). :)

Here's a tip for discreet nursing (maybe help with pumping too?). I cut some old undershirts (usually t shirt or tank top with t shirt material since it doesn't fray easily) with vertical slits, 3-4 inches long I think, over or just a bit out from the nipple area (you could try cutting one and see how that goes and modify the next if necessary). Then, whether you wear a blouse or a larger over shirt, your upper chest and belly are still covered when nursing or pumping. Saves money over buying nursing shirts!

Thank you so much! Great info! I’d love for you guys to make a video on what foods to start your baby on. My baby is now 6 months so my doctor said I could start feeding them some solids. I am still exclusively breastfeeding but plan to start some other solids as well. I’ve seen so many articles recently saying that jar baby foods/rice cereal contain so many chemicals. Now I’m wondering what a pediatrician thinks. Is it best to just buy my own fruits and vegetables myself instead of the little containers? Also is it better to start with actual solids instead of mashed foods these days or does it make no difference? I get a little scared feeding her anything other than mashed food just yet but what is your take on it? Thank you doctors! I figured I’d ask the pros! :)

Everything I've ever read says you shouldn't pour freshly pumped (warm) milk directly into a collection of cooled milk. The cooler idea is great, but you'll still have to wait for the freshly pumped milk to cool completely before pouring it into the canister. And then you lose a lot of that nice, fatty hind milk that seems to always stick to the side of the bottle. Agree with K Rayne - Lasinoh milk bags can be put directly onto the flanges (I threw a little tape over the top for extra security) and then it's already in the bag, done, ready to go in the freezer. (Or just pump directly into the bottles for the next day).

I love using the pumping cups from legendary milk. They work so great and can hold up to 8oz per a cup. I never have issues with leaking either. My favorite breastpumping thing right now is using a wearable breast pump (that fits inside my nursing/pumping bra) on one boob and a haakaa silicone pump on the other boob. This set up helped me be able to pump and move around. I have a handsfree breast pump as well but it is hard to bring around and do things because the flanges and bottles are jutting out of the bra so it is uncomfortable. I got my generic wearable breast pump from walmart for around C$50 and it is so worth it. I can even wear regular shirts because they are totally hidden underneath 😁

    • @LeftieLoosie
      @LeftieLoosie 2 года назад +2

From what I have heard it is rare for a baby to be allergic to breast milk. Not impossible.... but babies can be sensitive to dairy formula easier than breastmilk.... some babies can not have breastmilk... but it is rare... and sometimes if a baby is having issues with breastmilk mom making diet changes can fix the issue. An IBCLC would be a great resource to ask about these concerns and can give wayyyyyy better information than me.... but if you want to breastfeed.... there is lots of options before having to stop and provide soy formula! Unless you don't want to breastfeed, which in that case, go for whatever you feel is best for your family!

Hey thanks so much for these tips. I'm going in for a scheduled c-section in a couple of days and I'm wondering about switching bottles while pumping😫 With my last child Iwas an over supplier and everytime I switched bottles the breastmilk got all over me. If you have any tips and/or tricks please let me know!! Thanks so much!!❤❤❤❤

New nerd dad supporting my nerdy wife. We're Canadian, and I'll be Dad at Home when she gets back at work in a few months.
I love those tips. Reading from medical staff, I love to see how you simplify and make reference to the whys to do things.
As a computer Nerd I love to set systems up.
It would be great if you could have a video, a collage (maybe?), of things to be careful for.
For example, I heard before my baby arrived that nurses and medical stuff would want to know; how many pees, poo, milk comnsumed, etc. So, as Computer SysAdmin I installed and track every feed, diaper change, measurement, etc using open-soirce software BabyBuddy.
But that's just for the nerd who wants to crunch numbers. Useful **if** I need to go for a consult .
Productivity medley would be cool. Thanks!

Hey !! My baby is currently 25 days old. I am worry he is always hungry and only takes like 30 minutes naps I tried to keep him awake for longer time but still takes only 30 minutes naps DAY/NIGHTS. Is it normal? (I’m a new mom)

For the first few months all the babies do pretty much is sleep and eat. It’s normal. The older they get the longer their wake up times will start to be. Don’t worry just rest when the baby rest

    Thanks for the helpful content!!!
    Highly recommend these:
    BeauGen Breast Pump Cushions
    “Reduces pain and discomfort”
They are a silicone that helps with the hard plastic flanges. First heard of them from New little life by Allison

What's the benefit to a silicone flange over a plastic one?

Also, those nursing queen shirts seem like they have such a good design! I hate the ones that just have a cut out that you pull open. They never seem wide enough and always slip and get in the way. I just looked and nursing queen also have athletic tops with the zipper design, which seem really nice for wearing on hikes.

Silicone is more conforming and comfortable than the hard rigid plastic flanges. ♥️

I was hoping about more advice about the actual act of pumping... Not a recommendation of products. :/
