The editing on this is off the charts! Like so many here, I've watched from the beginning - all the footage. I'm an editor myself. The job to sort through ALL these amazing shots and moments to create this piece is just superb. The music takes you on an emotional rollercoaster. Bravo! Bravo!!! Love particularly the ❤for the Ocean. But it is all so so good. I felt myself tearing up. Congratulations to Everyone! One World. One Ocean.
Kudos to all the participants of the race, you provided hours of great entertainment, angst, tension, smiles and tears. I can only imagine how you folks felt along the way.

A inspiring feat, it's unmanageable to fathom the preparation it takes to race these IMOCA's around the world. Thank you for the coverage. This is such a huge event to cover. Some new stars were born this year for sure. IMHO the event needs to focus on a single class. It must be heartbreaking for the VO65 teams who were left out in the cold. Engagement for fans is important, but in port racing has to be re-imagined as these boats won't deliver in that arena, in the way that SailGP does. So perhaps more stopovers is the way to increase public engagement and have cross-over in port events. Where teams sail different class boats in chase events. Great for morale and shore crews have more time for repairs. Take a page out of @JoyriderTV playbook.

the city that appears as Itajaí is wrong! is Balneário Camboriú.
In the final result, there was an assumption that, based on their most recent results, 11th Hour was bound to win the final leg. As it turned out, in the Bay of Genova, it tuned into a real chook raffle. Had the collision not occurred, there is no reason to think they might not have been 5th to the finish line. Feels like a phyrric victory, that doesn't do true justice to Holicim and Malizia.
There is every reason to think they would not have been any further back than third.
There is nothin 'phyrric' about it and it would be nice if people could get beyond this false sense of 'unfairness'. The unfairness, both by the actual rules of racing and the reality on the water (you did pay attention to the final in-port, yes?), would have been if 11th Hour had not received redress.
Certainly all the other teams agree.
I agree with the other reply to you, and you should also note that if 11th hour did get 5th place in the final leg like you say they could have (Which obviously is possible, but unlikely given their previous placements), they would have gotten 1 point, which would have been enough for them to win the overall race over Holcim PRB. Therefore, 11th hour clearly deserved this win.

What I feel extremely unfair is that you basically removed @kevinescoffier from the scene without any story behind this move. We deserve to know, we live and breath this Race. Kevin was a key player in this campaign and as a fan of this Race this edition won't be closed for me as long as we don't have a light on this. I know you guys like to avoid some subjects but still. Cheers! And what a race it is!
You may do all the promotion you want, fact is this edition is by far the worst ever. Lowest participation, a fake VO 65 competition, Imoca wrecks and to top it off a ridiculous decision behind a desk. Bad luck belongs to sport, but only in sailing you get rewarded.
Not to mention the terrible weak coverage of it all.
I'll give you credit for consistency. Not logic or sense or willingness to adapt to offered counter arguments ... but certainly consistency.

"Those rules are wrong": The sailing community does not, generally speaking, agree with you.
Coverage: it was constrained by economics. Certainly not as broad and regular as the previous edition. Let's see if the growth potential for the next edition pans out or not. The same old, same old with the VO65s was not sustainable. A completely new class of one design was obviously not possible. We shall see. I am hopeful. You seem bitter.
VO65s: they are getting old and probably not safe for a full lap and there were insufficient sponsors to fund it. Instead they are relegated to a team development class that allows young teams to challenge themselves without the full load of a complete campaign. I'm pretty okay with that since it develops serious talent for future editions.
As for the whole "IMOCA wreck" thing. I don't even no where to start pointing out how false that assessment is of a major off-shore class that is involved in many races, including around the world, paired and now crewed. The IMOCA Globe Series is comprised of 9 different races of different types. There are expected to be 40 boats in the Vendee Globe next year sailing these 'IMOCA wrecks'. It is not ad hominem to call your argument ridiculous.

Sorry, I disagree with the last sentence, not only did TOR 's internal video department cover the race in a great way with all the footage by the OBR's plus Niall's show but so did WBD, I was their onsite reporter and we covered every arrival, in-port race and departure LIVE, broadcasted it to 200 countries and translated into 20 languages for paying subscribers of Warner Brothers, Discovery+ and Eurosport. I know, I wish it was free too and everyone is used to watching sailing for free but at the end of the day everything you really love you pay for it, you love ice-cream, you buy it, you want to see a movie, you pay for it... those who really love sailing subscribed. I did so that my family could watch me back home. Anyway every thing evolves and so has the Ocean Race. It was a great edition! Sincerely, Natasha Gonzalez
@@paulfisher1665 Rules are wrong when they promote abuse and fraud. Just hypothetically assume Charlie paid Guyot for crashing into them. Nobody would know and it is a fact that the race was over when that crash happened, under these current rules. I can give many examples why that rule is a complete miss, from sailing and other sports. And I don’t care what your so called sailing community thinks. I have read many critics about this ruling. Lousy spectators (like me) or experts: A lot of people following this race did not agree with the way it was settled.
And I followed the Ocean Race, not the Vendee or whatever. You just don’t seem to understand my observations on these wrecks are exclusively about the Ocean Race. I explained it before, but you obviously did not care. Only 5 boats in it, 2 utterly uncompetitive. So 3 contenders. Many DNF’s dus to mechanical failures. And no, the same did not happen to the former boats in the Ocean Race. Every race had some DNF’s due to failures, but not that many. Not even close.
Furthermore, the IMOCA is being promoted as spectacular in strong winds. Well, they all tried to escape stronger winds every leg. I don’t know where you got the idea I want the VO65 back (I don’t care what boats as long as it is interesting to follow this race) but I guess these old boats may have done at least as good in the southern ocean.
Finally, if sponsors are sparse they should have postponed the race until the global economy recovers. But in a way I am glad you seem to agree with me this race was rubbish. You just turn it around, blaming the economy and the lack of sponsors.
O, and please stop calling me “Bro”. It makes you look like a fool even more.

I don't care you didn't. I was like you in the beginning of it yet turn my head around as it continued. I still hope there will be a dedicated platform to this race kike we had with VO generations but hey - it was a great ride and the story was there too!

I didn't follow it religiously like I was going to when the 65's were in the intire race. I followed the 1sr two legs pretty close and the checked out for the most part. It was st least two weeks after the race ended when I decided get and update only to find out that the race had been over for over 10 days.
I stand by what I said - shittiest race in the history of the event. Cockpits and autopilots is not the Ocean Race. If you want that, watch the French round the world race (Vendee globe)
