I changed the belt on my 2014 viking 6 and now when I take off in it I have to give it a lot of throttle to take off. I was wondering if I tighten the clutch up to much
Hi, the issue will likely be your centrifugal clutch is slipping. That sits behind a casing behind the primary sheave. It will be worn or burnt out unfortunately
I am having the same issue with my 2019 viking VI once i get going it runs good but i have to give it to take off can you do a video on checking if the clutch is worn
40 hour Viking VI that has almost no engine braking in low. Belt slip? One way bearing seems to be working correctly. Gains ground speed without rpm increase on steep downhill crawls.
Thanks fellow mechanic! Just changed my 2014 belt and thought I'd check the wear. Still relevant 5 yrs later!
I own a 2017 700 viking
And live in newfoundland Canada

No problem at all. Pleased you found it helpful. Have a great day. Cheers Andy
For 2019 and newer Yamaha. Yamaha Just came out with a 10 year or 100 000km belt warranty. And also 20 year. 160 000 km engine warranty
Yes, I heard that was on the table. But beware, there are some very stringent servicing requirements & limitations to usage too...

Any adverse noises? Could be bevel drive in engine.
Hey Andy, thanks for the video. How tough is it to change the belt once you've gotten it exposed?
Oh not too difficult at all, just remove the brace on the primary (crank) pulley and open up the secondary using a couple of long M6 bolts :-)
@@AndyMechanic Outstanding, thanks so much!!!
I have oil in the belt case
Well that's not ideal. It's likely the oil seal behind the primary sheave has failed....
