I've been using the Air Direct, when I'm shooting big events, for a couple of months now and its been amazing. So much better than the old Case Air and the original Camranger (both of which I struggled with). The only issue for me is that the iOS app currently doesn't support Fuji cameras but since I predominantly tether to my MacBook Pro computers its not a huge issue.
Do you use CaptureOne or Lightroom?

Great vid. Two things. You can use the Internet simultaneously, just turn on Bridging in ADU. Also, AirDirect can send the Jpeg for speed, and the the raw (if enabled) in the background.
I bought this product (have CamRanger v1 too) but running into a big issue, wonder if others are too,. When I take a photo, it shows the RAW file first, thereby taking 3-5 seconds to display. If I shot JPG only, it works great. It was my understanding that if you show RAW+JPG, it would quickly show the JPG first, even if you took several rapid photos. 5DIV tethering into LR Classic on MBP latest CC.
Your understanding is my understanding too. I hope it's a bug or an option. I gave you a like to see if we get an answer.
hi if you shooting using air direct does your cam can playback the pic in camera? or only can be seen in pc?

Are the images saved to the cameras memory cards also.If I shoot Raw + Jpeg can I send the jpegs only to the ipad but save both joeg and Raw to the cameras sd cards

I have read and seen different amounts of time it takes for a RAW file to be transferred to Capture One Pro. Another guy on youtube (Rocky Mountain School of photography) had 6-7 seconds for his 30MP RAW (Canon 5DM4) file to transfer to COP. And Frank Doorhof (also on YT) told me that it took him 6.5 seconds for a 60MP Sony file.
So I was wondering if your 3 seconds with Z7 (45 MP) - the camera I own - was a consistent time you measured in a studio environment ? (with uncompressed 14 bit RAW files)
The second thing I was wondering:
The Rocky Mountain guy said that one is definitely faster if you transfer the JPEG to Capture One Pro. BUT he also said that nothing would be written to the card in the camera. That would mean that you would only have a JPEG as final image - which would be awful. ;)
I would be happy to write the RAW to the camera and capture a Hi-Res JPEG to COP to check focus and - within reasons of a JPEG file - the exposure. I do that with my CamRanger 1 at the moment. But of course it could be faster.
I understand this works with the "mobile mode"with their app. But does it also work with the ADU mode in COP ? (writing RAW to card and JPEG to COP)

What happens if your camera goes to sleep or you shut it off to change lenses? Do you have to futz around to reconnect everything or does it all just work immediately?

Hi Mike, sorry I missed your last question. You should be able to but I will need to check. There have been some firmware updates on the unit too. It should however in theory work with all camera features available
Thank you for the review. When testing with the Nikon Z7, what size were your raw files? Were they lossless compressed (for example) or uncompressed? I suspect they were the former. Additionally, were you shooting in 12-bit raw or 14-bit raw?
I was shooting in full sized uncompressed raw for this
Good video. One thing, my Air Direct sends the JPEG almost immediately, followed by the raw about 5 seconds later.
Can the recipient device use home wi fi while it’s connected to the tethering device WiFi
You can with an update. You can see the Airdirect to work over the home wifi (this is a new feature added after I created this video)
Hi, I can not connect the air direct with my camera. I'm using Fujifilm xt-3 and capture one pro. I used to use tether tools cable & it works. Now I'm using the air direct did not work. Why ??
How do you ya the Flash shoes ? If you have a flash trigger
I'd love to use something like this in the studio, but having to use a flash trigger makes it obsolete which is unfortunate.
no, it's a cold shoe mount. get a l-bracket and mount it :))

I've been running some tests and it can work as a webcam! I'll be putting out a video very soon to show.

Can I just send to Capture one the JPGS only while shooting RAW+JPG, and save the RAWs on the unit? ( Can the Air Direct have a memory card in it)?
The air direct doesn't have a memory card. But i think what you are asking is possible (but would be saved on your camera memory. I'll check when I can and get back to you.

@@StoryartAu You said you would check if shooting Raw + Jpeg with wireless Air Direct, not Smart Shooter, you could send the jpegs to capture one and the Raws to the camera memory cards, what did you find out?
When shooting to the smartphone are the images saved on the cameras memory cards.

It should work with anything that uses a USB connection to camera so yes

t's west of time and money , it's not working in my mac or i mac, and it's so slow in my iPad pro i don't recommend to buy it it and how come you dont inform us that its not working with the mac ????
It works with the Mac, I've had no problem. As explained in the video it is slower on a device (like the ipad pro or phone). When you say it's not wokring on the mac can you provide more information so I can help?
Air Direct is no more. Tether Tools pulled the plug. Sad.
