@@teocrawford Right! I appreciate your own critque of good/OK/ photos. I respect this aspect because it shows how much you care about your own work. Even the OK photos are "OK" and that's enough. Recognize it and keep shooting :)
I like the way you describe your compositions. Fujicolor C200 is one of my favorite films. I think it is well balanced and is easy to get the right color and exposure while scanning. I think it is even better in sunny weather.
Your Pentax K1000 led me down the Pentax rabbit hole. Now I own a Pentax SL and a Super Multi Coated Takumar 50mm 1.4. Also, I absolutely love the overgrown window composition. It has that magic fairy dust.
This was a very calming and enjoyable video. I appreciate you taking the time to let me tag along on your jaunt. I find film photography so fascinating and relaxing.
Another great video as always! C200 works well in the rain. I really liked that house next to the skinny stairs you photographed. The orange shutters really popped
Wow I never liked the c200 colors in sunny days but man it goes so well with the lighting conditions of weather you were shooting in, and I also think c200 fits your style.
your commentary is superb, I find myself hearing you explain why you do or don't like something about an image and I can't help but feel like that's exactly right!
Awesome video! Great to see you taking time to explore the things around you in the process looking for compositions that work, The stair leading up was begging to be shot portrait. Imo. The shots that have a foreground, a good sense of depth with simple subjects stand out. The window one especially. Always enjoy your videos!
The "half overgrown window" photograph is very nice indeed! I wonder if perhaps something like a 50mm would have been more appropriate for some of the subjects you chose to shoot - especially the green garage door.
I really enjoyed the fact that you shared some of the images that you weren't pleased with because let's face it, most YT photography channels don't share those images. Anyways, I enjoyed this walk about, I hope to see more.
I have a cardboard box with probably 40 rolls of this stuff. The lab I used to go to gave it for free when you develop a roll with them. Never used it because i didn't like it, but maybe I should try it out again!
Some times you have to use a hand held spot meter when you have a lot of contrast in a composition, camera meter's sometimes struggle to get it right. Pentax is my favorite 35 mm cameras, have own several since the 70's as well as Minolta.
Thanks for your sharing. I really like the photo with the window and leaves covering it too. But I think you can get better results with more extraordinary color if the weather is sunny with Fuji C200
Ohh thanks!🙇🏻♂️ Which do you mean exactly? Often the sky was indeed blown out, which might be due to over-exposing (I was trying to cath as much shadow detail as possible)🙌🏼
This was so calmly relaxing. I like the photos. My pick from the bunch is the one with the plants on the door step. Honestly almost all the photos has the Studio Ghibli vibes. Haha so I think it's okay to get off topic. Good Session Teo!
Great video, as usual, Teo. I always enjoy your photo walks and looking at the photos that come from them. I can only imagine that holding an umbrella and shooting at the same time would be a real pain. Have you considered using rain sleeves for your camera? They're fairly cheap and easy to come by, and easy to use.
Sweet, thank you!🤗 Yeah it's a bit annoying at times haha :D I actually have one of those but wrapping my Pentax in that would make everything even harder to work with, especially looking through the analogue viewfinder, therefore I just left it at home for this shoot. I do like to use it with my digital camera, because the LCD makes the process easy even with a sleeve :)
I have to go with the shot of the window. I find it interesting how I am drawn to windows and doors. I see them as common subjects for other photographers as well but I can't pinpoint the reason why.
Me before watching the video: "Ya know, I've never really been into Fuji's film stocks, haven't really tried them but not sure if I want to." Me after watching the video: *orders Fuji C200*
Depends. The initial conversion usually isn't satisfactory, therefore I change things with NLP's own editing panel, which then mostly gets me the results I'm looking for. I believe however that NLP isn't thought to deliver a perfect conversion without any tweaks in the first place so overall I'm happy with the results :)
looking for a film slr, what camera is this, would you recommend it? I'm completely new but very interested in film, I alr know how to shoot manual on a dslr
I'm using a Pentax K1000 here - it feels amazing and does it's job nicely, however there are two points in which I see room for improvement: Firstly the longest shutter speed on the dial is 1sec. I have often been in the situation of wanting more, which is technically possible in Bulb mode with a release cable, but so far I haven't gotten around to getting a release cable🤷🏻♂️ Secondly, it does not have a self timer. I've used a Mamiya/Sekor 1000TL, which does have one and I found it pretty useful :)
does anyone know how he edits his pics or his camera settings that make the video and pic look so cinematic?? i got the same camera and also lense but i can’t do much :(
are the photos edited? or directly from the camera? when I shot on the Fujicolor c200 the colors were much less contrasty and the photos were not as detailed, what did I do wrong?
It's hard to say when considering the steps in the scanning process... they're corrected but not strongly colour graded. I made a video explaining this a while back: ruclips.net/video/FcvJhkMzsNM/видео.html If you had a lab scan it for you, then they might have done it that way, not you. The labs just edit the photos how they see fit, whereas when you scan yourself you have full control. If this is a bit unclear I would recommend that video above🤗🙌🏼
it's super weird to see how you are shooting. Looks like you a picking comfortable where you just slap a tripod on the ground and take the shot. Not choosing the composition yourself.
That's probably due to the editing... I actually spend quite some time adjusting the tripod, but that footage is boring to look at and it drags out the video, so I cut it :)
I like how you explain your thinking behind each image, together they make a really nice series
Aww great, thank you!🙇🏻♂️
