Because of you I went with DDR4 and I have no regrets. I also got a "regular" 12900K and this confirms my choices. I can see the logic for some to push everything to the max and if you can afford to spend like that, must be nice. I could too maybe more when I was single with no kid but priorities. I'm fortunate to be in a position to make such choices nonetheless. Thanks again man for another good vid!
Personally I'd go 12700K for gaming and upgrade the GPU or add better cooling with the savings.

Same, if you have a trash monitor or no monitor at all (could be your 1st gaming PC coming from console gaming on a trash TV) that $500 can get you a great screen and really good headphones/speakers and that will improve the gaming experience way more than the extra 40FPS (max) that the 12900KS could give.
Yeah this is a good move, I still have a 10700k oc’d to 5ghz and I have absolutely no complaints for gaming.

Still rocking my 9900KF. I'm still struggling to justify upgrading. Like you've said, "Do you need more?" and I don't right now. I do want to upgrade so I'm on the latest tech, but I won't be shafted on the price. DDR5 is still a good few months, if not a year or so away from being worthwhile and with your help I got my B-Die down to 37n's latency.

Same here - no point upgrading until DDR5 overs a serious improvement.
My friend upgraded from 9700k with 4000mhz b-die to 12600k. It was crazy cheap upgrade once he sold the old stuff on second hand market. The performance gain is real with 12gen. Just keep your b-die and get ddr4 board. Or just wait for raptor lake but i am betting same thing applies to raptor lake. Caring about money and buying i9 doesn't make sense.
Depending what GPU you paired with. I find my I7 10700 KF paired with MSI Gaming X RX 6900 XT bottleneck the GPU.

Did you run something in the background all the time? because i get at stock speeds 10400 in cinebench r20 at 4.9 all core. Btw 5,1ghz all core 1.26v, after so many years i really don't expect anything else from intel.
In my country the 12900ks is the same or sometimes less than the 13700k , I want to buy one of them which one do U recommend?

@@forthosewhodare7325 i only have a 240hz monitor (i shouldn't say only lol) but I've been addicted to PUBG again and since i undervolted my GPU my dips only hit about 210 fps and then shoots back to 230 or higher.

I think 12900KS is just an above average SP rating 12900K with increased P-core base-boost CLK range. so it won't require higher Max Turbo Power.

I use ycruncher to test stability its much harder on the memory and cpu. It definitely smashes your system more than cinebench m8. I'd love to see if they pass y-cruncher at the same low volts 👍

Below average.
There is such a huge variance in silicon quality, you can buy a lower tier product that ends up being a better bin than the higher tier one. It happened with many techtubers' 9900K vs 9900KS, it also happened with my 10850K vs a 10900K I had before it. The odds are small, but the fact that it happens shows that whatever binning process Intel uses is a mess.
especially the KF variants are nuts for some reason, i have a 10900kf and a 10900k, both delidded on direct die frame, sp63 duds, but with my custom loop i could squeeze 5,4 allcore out of the kf for a year on high voltage, the 10900k only does 5,3 lol
before that i had a 9900kf and that thing did 5,4 allcore on 1,5v for over a year too even without being delidded and without liquid metal on the ihs
i'll go with KF's for the rest of my life if they keep delivering like that

Jufes def understands his audience lol- I went from 90 to 90ti for the 10 percent, worth the 800 after I sell my 90 and I’m currently testing two ks’ to see if I can run lower volts than my 12900k that can do 5.3 / 4.1 e cores / 41 ring at 1.270
Indeed, for some cost is no issue, also for some part of the fun is seeing what you get with the silicon lottery and how far you can push it.

hey man i got a question regarding voltages my 12700K requires 1.350-1.355 to reach 5GHz is this the worst silicon lottery ? i believe i'm below the good average 12700K's out there !!
Is this for Cinebench or something else? I can try mine and get back to you later. But considering Jufes' 12700k needed 1.42v to run 3 loops of Cinebench R20 at 5.1Ghz, then your CPU needing 1.355 for 5Ghz sounds pretty much on par in that scale.
I tune my CPU for games that I play, for Halo Infinite at 5.1Ghz I need at least 1.33v (in BIOS with LLC4 - Asus Z690 Strix D4). When I got time I'll check what's the minimum voltage I can pass Cinebench for 4.9Ghz, 5Ghz and 5.1GHz.
Just an update, tried to run Cinebench R20 on my 12700k at 5.1GHz P-Cores, Cache 4.6GHz and E-Cores disabled. It crashed instantly at 1.40v and when I tried 1.42v (like Jufes did with his 12700k), it didn't crash immediately but it was throttling (100c in most core almost instantly) because my air cooler is insufficient.
I also tried 1.355v with 5.0/4.6GHz and it throttled as well, so I'm sorry I couldn't be much help. I do plan on going custom loop, it's just the case that I want for custom loop isn't available in my country yet, so I'm using 2x120mm budget air cooler in the mean time. For what it's worth I can game on 5.1GHz easily while keeping the temps low to not be of any concern. I believe my 12700k shouldn't be much different than the one in this video because mine is SP81 on P-Cores (versus 78 in this video). I'll check again once I have sufficient cooling.

so i'm using noctua NH-U12A which's suppose to be even better than d15 with 12th gen specifically but since ineed 1.350-1.355 to reach 5GHz my temps go to 95-96 so i need water cooling for that but in my opinion it's not worth it or in other word i'm not too sure if it will help i don't think it will decrease my temps like 12 degrees from air and yes i test on cinebench r20
what made me concerned and triggered that most people talking about their 12700K's on reddit most of them reaching 5GHz with 1.3V or less and i get bluescreens with anything less than 1.350 🥺
oh also these voltages i'm talking about with llc on auto if i change it to level 6 for example i can go as low as 1.265-1.270 but my temps stay the same
@@spicynoodles307 You're more than welcome, it's no biggie, I'm myself experimenting with my 12700k to see what can be done with it. Your air cooler is pretty much already one the best available, I'm currently using Arctic 34 Duo. I will check tomorrow if perhaps I can somehow pass Cinebench R20 @ 5Ghz without throttling so I can tell you the minimum voltage in BIOS and as displayed in Windows under load that is needed, maybe if I open my case and run all the fans on full speed and bring an external summer room fan I be able to do it LOL.
As for LLC I have it on Auto as well, Asus seems to default it to LLC4 and I haven't bothered experimenting with other LLC to be honest.

for 5 GHz it needs 1.21v under prime 95 small ffts 5.2 GHz needs 1.31v for prime.

I have pretty much worst 12900k you can get. SP77. (P-core 86-ish). It still does 5.1ghz, granted little toasty on cinebench. Is it worth, is really up to you.
Ask yourself what games you play and do they even significantly benefit from the extra mhz in that case

My 9900K is an SP 118. Got it on launch day. I daily it at 5.2Ghz but it will do 5.4.
9700k sh*tter here.. Before they removed the SP, I had 58. I can hit 5Ghz at 1.37V but it's not stable enough for me.
I run it at 4.7Ghz instead to have 0 fan noise. So sad.

I love hardware. But no moola. Hence I have value boxes and just try to have fun. Best rig right now is a Ryzen 2600, 32GB ram and a 1650. And it does all the stuff I do, so cannot really justify more..
12700k is the best value (higher end) cpu available right now. To me the 12900k and especially the ks is just not wroth it at all. id get the 12700k and pocket the extra cash or put the savings into other parts of the build

9900ks was less than $100 CAD difference when I bought it. I got 5.1 when more 9900k could do 5.0. At this price difference, I just can’t see it being worth it this time.
2 months later guess what dumbass did the exact opposite ? Price difference was only $80 CAD though so long way from $300 USD.
