Norway's voting system broke down when we were supposed to vote for the top 4 (the golden finale), so a jury of 30 people chose the finalists. People were hella pissed that this viking-themed dude (Rein Alexander) didn't make it. That's probably some of the reason

Its sad she didnt get the chance to perform this beautiful song on the ESC stage though (written together with Kjetil Mørland Norway 2015 and Christian Ingebrigtse from A1) ☹️

Zach Priddy Ulrikke dreamt of this since she was little and she was soo happy when she won MGP and so excited to go to Rotterdam. Feel so sorry for her, its sad we wont see her with this beautiful song. I think it’s a bit mean actually of EBU to dont go around the rules this one time and let the contestants who was supposed to perform in May do that next year. Its not fair to them at all. I am Norwegian and I would love for Ulrikke to represent us next year. Instead of a normal national final it could be fex two semi finals where Ulrikke performed 5 songs in each semi (either songs she has written herself or by other Norwegian songwriters) and then 2 or 3 songs (voted by fans) would advance to the final. In the final she will then perform these 4 or 6 songs and the most popular song will be the song she will represent Norway with in ESC 2021. That way we will have a kind of national final and Ulrikke gets what she deserves.

A stunning power ballad about being in a toxic relationship, not being able to even recognize your own actions anymore. “why do I think it’s okay not being me ’cause of you?”, she asks herself, admitting she would do everything to get her lover’s attention. The track has quite a modern production with a backdrop of soft drums and a sound that resembles dripping water in the verses. As the track progresses, the violins of the intro become more and more prominent, while Ulrikke sings for her life. The climax of ‘Attention’ is very satisfying and the big and dramatic melody of the chorus is an ear worm too. Just love the song so much.

@@Biglew380 as someone who's grown up with abusive parents, I see the "attention" she wants as those crumbs of love and tiny instances of affection she gets between episodes of abuse and neglect. the strong feelings of fear and hurt make the moments of love feel extremely strong and that's precisely what makes abusive relationships so "addicting" and hard to leave. the (small) good moments between abuse can also make you doubt yourself - they're not abusive all the time (and might even try to make amends and give promises) so is the problem really in me? abusive relationships are never abusive 100% of the time and that's something not everybody knows about. you should google the "cycle of abuse" if you want to find out more about this

In any case this stage is excellent! She can easily win the jury and be top 5 in the televote. I love this performance because it's live and she slays!
Tbh as a norwegian, she can sing good, but the lyrics are questionable. This is something the Jury will notice, but we’ll have to hope for the voting system again as always.
The biggest problem about this 'staging' is because we all know that in early years of Eurovision, they didn't needed the staging and there was only song the one who decides who'll win. But now... You need perfect staging with lightshow, it actually doesn't matter if the song is good. And the problem is that realising those songs before the show is very bad. Why? Because a lot of people are promoting their song and the winner is a lot of times now decided politically. Let's say... We, in Slovenia, we've got no chance to win 'couse we're to small... It's complicated.

This is the type of song you think you don't like but then you hear this masterpiece and get chills through your body. Great stage presence, great vocals, great dynamics...The song has an excellent climax and couldn't be more perfect. It's Eurovision Royalty type of song. It wasn't my number 1 this year because of my personal taste, but it deserved to win.

I think Ulrikke carried this fragile beginning of a song as I would hold an infant gently in my arms. The melody and the song itself is beautiful but what makes this song AMAZING is her voice. Ulrikke is the one who lifts and carries this song up and down. When the chorus comes, she takes us to epic heights that give goosebumps all over...You can tell she is a cowriter on this song, a storm of emotions in her performance.

@@deceptive2844 That would be fun, but I feel as if Europe would be much more accepting of Canada entering than the US which I can understand since Canada is a part of the British commonwealth. Many Europeans have made it quite clear in the comments that they do not want Americans anywhere near their song contest. I'm ok with us just being spectators. I do think it would be fun for us viewers in the states to be able to vote just to see which song the US would pick as its winner.

Vaqif Aliyev you can’t compare those two songs. They’re completely different. If you mean as an eurovision song, I say spirit in the sky is a better eurovision song, but attention is better in other ways. It really depends what the circumstances are.

I don't like ballades on Eurovision, because it's very obvious and boring. Just another ballade, I thought. But she really feels all she sings about. Her face, her emotions, all that coincide with the song. Maybe it's the first time when I really love the Eurovision ballade. Wonderful!
