Great looking figure. It still baffles me, we have reviews of figures for upcoming show but we had 3 seasons of Bad Batch and only have 1 figure from the team.
Live action should get more then animated cartoons in my opinion. Really they should stick to episodes 1-6 since this is a nostalgia based line anyway. Having every show would make The Vintage Collection the Modern Collection.
@@gabesstarwarscollection I agree to a certain extemt. I am merely pointing out this show already has figures coming out and being reviewed and we have pther shows which are missing key characters.
@@gabesstarwarscollectionI can agree with that to a certain extent. But it makes no sense to get multiple OT figures and not even the main characters of The Bad Batch. Hell, we haven't even gotten an Asajj Ventress figure yet.
I like the figure and excited to see what they did with the belt/lower tunic tooling, it’s very interesting to see the forethought for reuse. Hoping the show is a success. And lol at the “sweaty” BS figures. Excellent description 😂
I don't get excited about characters from a show we have not seen yet, but cannot deny that Hasbro made a great looking figure. It certainly looks identical to the actor. As a carded completist, ordered one to have a MOC sample. Great review thanks.
@@danielgiorgi2188 Buy 1 mint sample just like this time. I have one of every VC number since 1.0. For OT figures, I buy multiples for MOC, and displays. So for example Yak Face, I have a mint one, a mint 40th card, one on the sail barge, one in my Jabba scene, and of course the POTF card that came with the barge. Leia I pre ordered 4 for the same reason. Finn, I only needed one.
The soft goods look great on him indeed! I would really like to see some Prequel Jedi updates using some of the new Jedi tooling, though I'd really hope Hasbro would resculpt the torsos and belts to make the accurate (like they've done with most of the Imperial Officers). I also hope they'd make them the right heights. Sol looks pretty short, so he might not be great for taller Jedi. The Black Series Kit Fisto for example used Episode 1 Obi-Wan's body and he's freakishly short. I wouldn't want them to do anything like that.
Since they opted to sculpt the piping on the tabards instead of doing it as deco, reusing this torso for ROTS Anakin (or most other PT Jedi) would be very inaccurate, unfortunately. Alas, accuracy seems to often be overlooked these days based on some recent reuse-heavy figures.
Great figure, thanks for another comprehensive review! I love it when you compare new figures to similar older ones. That said, I do think the soft goods don't look great. While I like that the hood is tied down, from the back, the hood looks ridiculously oversized and it still looks way too baggy from the front. Better than before? Sure. But I'll definitely be displaying this one without the robe (as I do with virtually all of my robed figures.)
Sol means Sun in Spanish. I picked up Jedi Master Sol today at GameStop New Rochelle... It's a great looking figure, he is a Jedi master, And also vintage Star Wars action figure line is hard to come by.... So I picked him up.... ☀️🐺🌙🐺🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🪓
He looks great! I don't really want them to use the torso for prequel Jedi since he has the sculpted piping on his tabards not seen in the prequels. But I'd love for them to use this for other Acolyte or High Republic characters. I'm sure the details and fabric draping are a little different character to character but it seems like he could be used for characters like Yord Fandar, Torbin, or the many secondary Jedi glimpsed in trailers. They can also do his flashback look with short hair, which seems to have the exact same costume.
I have a feeling he’s gna go down as one of the best of ‘24 if for nothing else for seriously nailing the Jedi robe! I’m super excited for the series overall
I preordered Jedi Master Sol and cannot wait to get him in my hands. My kids are not into him but they did preordered the female character and that is find. Still, they could use Sol to create a lot of Jedi from the Prequels and his own time. Thank you Bossk's Bounty for another great review.
Love what they did with the arms and the gauntlets. One of the worst parts of the Mace figure is how the plastic draping on his forearms only looks good when the arms are facing down. When his arms are up and turned (or in a fighting pose) it looks ridiculous, like fabric defying gravity.
If he's as great of a character as they're saying, this may be a fantastic addition to the collection (and canon). Oh, and also, I wish his expression was a bit more neutral. He looks so dour (maybe that's his personality, we'll soon see).
I dig this look of jedi with the gauntlets, hopefully this prompts Hasbro to kick out many more Jedi to come. And with the gauntlets, maybe it will help with the tooling to kick out some Clone Wars armor Jedi like Mace, Plo Koon, Kit Fisto, and many more 🤞🤞🤞
I think I will be picking up that figure for my collection, especially when starting a Star Wars, the acolyte action collection as well. Another error being started. I’m excited to see Jedi master soul on my screen.
I'm a bit torn on this one at the moment. It's a really gorgeous figure and I'm sure I'll get it at some point but whether I'm going to grab it at full price really depends on how the show turns out. At the moment I'm not particularly invested in another random Jedi - if only they could put this type of effort into figures from the legacy media. So far this year Dooku is hands down the most exciting figure for me and the only other one I see potentially topping that is Leia. They have they ability to make truly stunning figures these days but it's starting to make our old collections look a bit outdated and there doesn't seem to be much hope of replacing them any time soon. Hopefully the Haslab changes that I guess
@@BossksBounty No, that was an exception and not even what I'm talking about. I'm specifically talking about Jedi characters. Quinlan Vos nailed exactly what I'm talking about in 2011 / '12.
Make a good custom base if you want to build your own Jedi's - think these will go the way of Rise of Skywalker... Limited range of figures for this series I reckon
Very good opening pose BB! 👏 So Little Bossk is no longer in charge of doing dynamic poses? 'And the Apprentice becomes the Master.' 😅 Thank you for your review, interesting and entertaining as ever. 👌
Tim strikes again w another first! Congrats. Really like the softgoods on this one. Show is right around the corner. Fingers crossed that this ends up being a terrific series. Cheers, BB!
This figure looks great. The head sculpt is stellar, and you're right, the robe is ten times better than what we've seen in the past. I just wish they could make them so they looked good with the hood up. I don't think the Black Series hoods are any more successful at this than the TVC ones are. I love that pop of gold on the tabard - it makes him so much more dynamic-looking than the usual boring tan/white/brown Jedi outfits. But, it looks like every Acolyte character has that same look. I wish each character had more of the their own individual costume design going on - Even as part of a team, or a school, it would be cooler if they were more distinct.
I believe the black series ones are pinned down in the same way. The only way they could sort the hood is with a bit of wire. Would up the cost though!
Great comparison review with the other Jedi(s) BB! I hope you’re right and they use the new Acolyte figure tooling to update some other prequel characters. My biggest hope from Acolyte figures is for Kelnacca and I hope his tooling will be the basis of the first new Chewbacca figure in 20 years
Definitely a cool looking figure/character and to me a very good likeness. I also had no idea he was the main actor from Squid Game , thanks BB for the info!
Looks great. It does to me look superior over the 3 Jedi on display. As you said, changing the belt would definitely change the whole look of the figure. Let's just see what we get now. There's a lot of Jedi that they could in theory do now!! Great video as always👍
It’s a bit frustrating having most figures as a lesser sculpt and old paint apps. Never understood why they kept those boots for Mace…? :))) Either I am going to sell my collection (since 2007) or minimize it and do some serious custom work.
